I want to produce a logo for a piece of coursework so it doesn't need to be to professional or anything, but does anyone know of any free software or apps I could use?

I have just purchased a set of logitech x-530 speakers to go with my 2010 MBP. It was a bit of a rushed buy without much research and as such I have realised that the computer doesn't seem to have the appropriate soundcard to produce 5.1 sound (is this correct). At the moment I can only play 2 channel sound leaving the other 3 speakers hanging about. Do I need to buy a external sound card or is there an adaptor
View 16 Replies View RelatedSo I was cleaning off my new Macbook Pro (a month old) the other day and noticed one spot wouldn't clean, I figured it may have been something stuck on there so I tried a little harder with no luck. I must of missed it, but there's a little piece of white dust (about 1px or so in size) behind the glass . I'm going to try to ignore it, but it's a little hard when you're as OCD about your electronics as I am, whenever I turn on my Mac it seems that my eyes drift over there. It isn't even that bad in my opinion, when I sit at a normal distance it's nearly unnoticeable, it's only when I look for it that I can see it.

I've had about 8 unibodies both 15" and 13" and the light grease fro the keys occasionally gets transfered to the screen in the shape of keys, and I've seen many people talk about a little piece of fabric (looks just like the screen cloth) they place over the keyboard to prevent this from happening. Anyone have an eBay or another online link to something like this? I think keyboard covers are silly, so just looking for the fabric solution.

Also, do any of you guys know of a non matte fingerprint resistant screen protector? I looked into it a little bit more. Turns out it might be a dead pixel. I have applecare. I was wondering what they will do. Will they replace my screen, give me a refurbished 09 model, or give me a brand new computer?

My macbook is from 2009 and now a piece from his screen doesnt show any pictures anymore. I went to a shop from Apple and they told me that its a contact problem and to solve this it will cost about U$700, thats almost the price from a new mac!

I'm planning to buy a new iMac in the next week but I'm looking for the one that will produce the less heat so that will make less fan noise. I'm only using it to watch YouTube and play World of Warcraft. Anyone know which one will produce less heat, i3 or the i5 or even the i7. Budget is not a problem. I prefer to pay a little more if I know I will have less fan noise so less heating. Anyone maybe have different model at home or at the office and noticed a difference between all the models ? Maybe it's more a size question between the 21.5 and the 27 inch iMac and less a cpu question ?

- keep a record of customers
- track income/expenses
- create invoices
- track billable hours
- track mileage
Right now I'm using a combo of Pages/Numbers to do all this, but with a growing customer base I'd like a more all in one solution that doesn't cost the earth. I'm starting to get files all over the place, and tryingto remember which invoice number I used last so I can type it into a new invoice is getting annoying.

This was already occurring in Leopard and now in SL as well - occasionally, sometimes even more than that, the "Funk" built-in sound comes out of nowhere - at times even several times in a row. Why?
For those who don't know what I'm talking about: it's the sound you hear when you for example get disconnected from iChat or MSN, etc. You can listen to it if you go to System Preferences Sound Sound Effects.
Why does it sometimes occur out of the blue, even with no apps running?
my first night with my new Macbook was last night! All is great so far, just one questions though. When I was in the bed las night, the apple logo was so darn bright in the bedroom it woke the wife up once! I have an issue with a macbook pro and booting from DVD. When I try to boot from the DVD it starts reading and after a few minutes I hear the driver stops and only a gray screen with the apple logo in the screen. I have tried two snow leopard disk and the original disk that came with the macbook pro. I can boot into the operating system, repair permissions, verify disk and disk utility does not find any problem. I also tried with a usb dvd and the same symptom, after a minute it stops reading the dvd.

View 13 Replies View RelatedDisk Utility in OS X gave me a Invalid key length after checking Catalog file, so I restarted to OS X Install DVD. It did the same thing on the OS X Install DVD. I went to Startup Disk, changed it back to the Mac OS X on Macintosh HD option - so I could go in and back my stuff up. It just goes to apple logo, does the spin thing at the bottom, and goes black. I can't even boot from DVD anymore.

It now shows me the gray screen, apple sign and spinning circle for about a minute before it's decided it's done and would like to turn itself off. I have tried resetting the PRAM and the SMC. I have tried restarting in safe mode. I tried to restart it off the AC adapter without the battery. I hear the chime, I see the apple, and the status circle, and then nothing!
