MacBook Pro :: Why Won't Track-pad Work Properly And The Cursor Will Move On It's Own
Jun 2, 2012
I bought my Macbook Pro less than a year ago and the other night I was watching a TV show in itunes and I couldn't use the track pad. I was able to finally shut the Macbook down and the next morning I rebooted it. It was still acting weird and the trackpad was jumpy and would randomly start opening windows and menus as if someone was contriolling it remotely. I used my bluetooth mouse and it seemed to work ok until tonight when I was copying some files wirelessly (or trying to) and evey time I tried to select files the cursor would jump to another screen and open a menu and then select all and open all my file folders. I was able to get that to stop openin ght ewindows but I still can't use the track pad and the machine acts like it is possesed and has a mind of it's own. I have made sure file saring and screen sharing are off and the battery shows to be normal from doing the control+battery test.
it feels like someone else is controlling my mouse. This just started happening. My trackpad doesn't work or works sporadically. While typing the pointer is scrolling all over my screen.
I have a 2010 MacBook Pro 15" and randomly, just opened the screen to wake it from sleep, and about 5 minuets after being on the computer the track pad started becoming more and more unresponsive. To explain on unresponsive; at first the two finger scroll to scroll the page up was not working, then the pointer would not "follow" movement from my finger very well, and finally anytime I touched the track pad (such as just laying a finger down and not moving the finger across the track pad) It would do almost any gesture and was completly unresponsive of movement. I restarted the laptop multiple times, complete shut down wait about 10 min then start back up, and the track pad would be functional for a couple of minutes before doing above listed again. So I cleaned the track pad with a napkin while pressing down which seemed to make it work again and so far has not acted up again.
I have a 2012 Macbook Pro and the GPU is causing issues with Yosemite. There are a number of issues I have run across:If I have four tabs open on Safari then I start to get a flickering on the screen from the GPU refreshing. When I leave the computer alone for more than 20 mins the screen saver should start -- what happens is that the screen goes to black. When I move the cursor I do not get the login screen. I have to rebootFireFox Web browser will not runI get issues with the computer running very slowly..I have already turned off the transparency option in settings.

mouse cursor not working properly, when i go to my hidden dock it will not appear unless i left click, and when i try and drag and drop whatever i pick up gets stuck to cursor and i have to power down, and when i go to the tool bar at top, and highlight a particular section the highlight does not follow my cursor nor will it change from file to edit to view etc. without me actually clicking each individual section, i have done 3 fresh installs, and run the boot cd live and still have the same problem running to boot cd live.
I have no idea what is causing this problem, i have run hardware test, both using memtest for mac and macs own internal test holding the D key down on boot, memtest ran with not errors, but the mac test came up with two seperate issues the first was using the quick test the second was using the extended test: 4MOT/1/ 40000003: HDD-1363 and the second was 4MOT/1/40000003: HDD-1429,Oh the machine is a intel based 20" imac, with the core 2 duo 2ghz processor, 2006 i believe and its running osx 10.5.
had my macbook for about a year and a half and recently it just stopped working. Literally it was fine one minute and the next the screen was just black. I tried turning it on and off and now it stays at the boot screen for like 30 minutes and then just goes to a blue screen. I can move the cursor around the blue screen and stuff but there are no icons and there is no finder or anything. everytime i turn it off and back on the same thing, bootscreen and then bluescreen.
I just turned on my new 27" iMac and can't seem to get the mouse to go any faster. I've got it turned up all the way on the tracking speed. This display is huge and I don't like having to pick up the mouse just so I can get to the other side of the screen.
I have added a second display to my iMac, but I can not move the cursor or content to the additional display, which shows a picture of the galaxy. I have searched but can find a means to do this.
I have a 2009 13 inch MBP with 4G of RAM. Its loaded with the current version of Snow Leopard, version 5.1.5 of Safari and version 4.5 0f the Mail App. The screen of the MBP freezes up 3 - 4 times per day. Ninety percent of the time Safari is open when this happens (some of the time, the Mail App is open as well. The remainder of the time I may have another browser open, but the Mail app is open. I can move the cursor around the screen and "force quit" any open applications except Mail and Safari when this happens. The icons for Safari and the Mail App in my Dock turn grey if I click on them. Otherwise the spinning pizza wheel shows up. I have to use the power button to turn off and restart the machine.
I have tried resetting the PRAM. I also got a couple of error messages concerning Hazel (v3.1.1) via Growl on one occasion. Simply stated that there was an error when Hazel started to run, checking .docx files for Music and video. (Hazel runs from startup and I have rules set up to remove partial and duplicate downloads and clear all Trash files within a set period). I uninstalled Hazel, but the freezing still occurs. The apps I have running most of the day are Mail, a browser, Omnifocus, Preview and either Pages or Word in Office for Mac 2011. I back up a couple of times a day using Time Machine and every couple of days update a copy of my hard drive using Carbon Copy Cloner.

Lower track pad functions will not work on my MBP...right / left click functions. All other areas work fine and wireless mouse works as substitution. This issue just start upon start up today. Track pad was working last night.
I have managed to install virtualbox on my mba 11.6 with win 7 as the guest.
1. The only way I can move from win 7 back to osx is to hold esc and drag the cursor down through the bottom of the win 7 window. Is this how its supposed to work? 2. I have set up a shared folder on osx and set it up on virtualbox but cannot mount it as instructed through the command menu. 3. Virtualbox doesn't recognise my pen drive but osx does. 4. Would it be advantageous to use win 7 lite as I only have 160 hd?
Excuse my asking seemingly simple tasks but I'm struggling with it, and cannot put anything on win 7 until I master it.
I'm using iMac with magic mouse. My mouse cursor now stuck in top left corner and cannot move. I've tried to reset the pvram by pressing option+command+P+R
I also tried to power off 15 sec and restart, seems useless also. Now i cant use my imac at all.
I have a Imac 27" - suddenly it seems it freeze - I can move the cusor with the pad - but clicking dosn't activate the function. I have tried to restart (power off) but still the same. I succeded once to get i alive for 15 min. then it stopped working again. The Imac 27 is opdated and less than one year old.
I just opened up my new macbook pro. I am having trouble configuring the mail app. When I set it up to my yahoo account, it loads all the bulk mail, but my inbox stays empty even if my boyfriend sends me emails...how can I get this working properly? I have it set to update every minute, but its still not loading any emails....
I just bought a new macbook pro with retina display. i found a bluetooth problem. when i use my bluetooth stereo headset, the sound interrupts every a few minutes!
Info: MacBook Pro with Retina display, Mac OS X (10.7.4)
I have a macbook pro (i7) 13'', everything was working properly, but out of a sudden the keyboard is dead & won't respond to anything, now I can't login. I restarted it many times but still the same problem.
After I executed automation and default clean up function with Onyx. After reboot Finder doesn't open anymore on the menu bar there are only three options: finder, files, help. I have to click on the finder menu and choose run full finder to get it back to work.
Launchpad simply doesn't show anything anymore
spotlight just disappeared...
Im able to create a new account and everything works fine. I have keychain in the current account so it will be better if I can fix this.
I noticed that my Messages on youtube are instantly deleted when I comment on some peoples Youtube channels. I don't think its the person that owns the youtube channels doing it because it is deleted almost instantly after I log out. It's very odd and I don't think its youtube censoring my comment because I'm not cursing in the comment and I don't believe cursing is against the TOS on Youtube anyways.
Another thing I notice is that when I'm on a flash based chatroom that when someone I am talking to has left the chatroom it will still say they are in the chatroom until I click on my friendlist and than they turn red as if they are gone. It is very odd that I am noticing these strange bugs. However the chatroom thing could be a chatroom problem because it might do that on my Windows side which I never checked because I'm usually on that chatroom on my Mac side.
As i ask that battery not stable, last few day i was sense that the percentage doesn't work properly, like when it showing 1% battery life, but after another few second onward its showing me 2% left...So i would like to know what happened to my mac book pro ya? its that cause the battery going die?

We have a 2.4GHz intel Core 2 Duo MacBook. The track pad and "F" keys work but none of the other rows of keys work...any help figuring out how this can be fixed?
I have just bought a Trackpad - it says it needs to work with OS 10.6 something and I am running on 10.5.8. It also says to upgrade through the Software update - but I cannot do this, will I need to take trackpad back to store?

I just got a new macbook pro unibody a few weeks ago, and when i go to shutdown the mac, my cursor is stuck for a good 20 or so seconds and then i can finally move it to shut it down. This does not seem normal to me and am wondering if this is an isolated event or it happens to others? Is there a fix for it? Such as a new driver, reinstall, etc.
