Nov 7, 2007I was working with a Power Mac G5 when this strange thing happened. I had pulled the CD drive from the machine to test out a problem with a new Mac Book computer(door wouldn't open on eject command). Discovered that that we had a wiring problem (I was using the bottom connector not the top). So I go and put the drive back into the Power Mac, turn it on & the only thing on my screen is a small square icon with a picture of the North & South American hemispheres on it, flashing. Can anyone enlighten me as to what just happen & what I can do to fix it?

Dec 10, 2014I'm selling my old iMac and while cleaning the hard drive it froze. I forced shut down and when I turned it back on a circle with a diagonal came up initially, followed by flashes of that, a question mark and the apple symbol. Now it won't get past the grey screen and the flashing symbols.

Jun 27, 2010I turned on the MBP today (Mid-2007 Santa Rosa) and everything was going fine- until the screen started to jump! Literally the whole display bounces constantly, revealing a white line at the top of the screen (as if trying to center the screen or something). This is on the LCD- haven't tested it on a monitor yet. I just had my logic board replaced about 4 months ago for a faulty 8600GT chip- I'm so hoping it's not that.

Sep 6, 2014I've been using my computer like I normally do this morning. I was listening to iTunes on it and noticed it was acting a little slow and glitchy. When I went to get back on my computer I opened it up and nothing showed on the screen, it was all black. However the little white light is shining so I know it's on. I've only had my Mac for a little over a year now and have never had this problem before.

yesterday i left a file download in firefox for 5 hours then went back to check on it , it was working FINE, Then i got Back after 2 minutes and the screen is suddenly white and not showing anything i shut down the laptop and restarted , there was a chime and just white screen...i connected the laptop to an external monitor AND EVERYTHING IS WORKING on the external screen but the laptop screen is white!

Jun 11, 2010My screen periodically starts flashing and getting huge white lines that run down the screen when I play games (only have crysis maximum edition) but then it stops and goes back to normal. Ive noticed that it doesnt happen all the time, and not at certain moments in the game (i.e. happens at one point but doesnt happen again at that same point a different time) and it will stop if i go and look only at a wall. Is this normal or is my MBP F'd?

Feb 19, 2010I spilt water on my macbook pro, and wasn't smart enough to let it dry out. When I plug it into charge, no light from the charger comes on. When I turn on the computer, it starts up, the screen is still pitch black.... but if I look close enough I barely can see my startup screen. I am thinking about replacing the logic board? Aug 18, 2008When shutting down, we get a familiar light blue screen before the computer turns off. I'm getting this flashing at me while operating my MBP. It seems to happen twice, every so often. The screen will turn blue and become empty simultaneously for about a half second - then the screen I'm expecting to see comes back for about half a second - and then the light blue screen comes back again for about a half a second, and then everything goes back to normal.What the heck is this?

MacBook :: White Screen With File Folder Flashing?
Mar 12, 2012I was given a MacBook 13" laptop, new to apple computers though. At first I was told the laptop itself did not power on. I charged it overnight, and it will come on, however, only to a white screen with a file folder in the middle with a ? mark in the file folder. I googled the screen and got several choices, start in save mode, did nothing. I called apple, since it is a 2006 model computer, it is of course out of support, but she emailed me articles to follow directions. None of them did anything, since it was given to me I do not have the start up disks, just the laptop and the charger. I did notice that out of all the steps the only thing that did anything different was the "reset NVRAM/PRAM" it made speakers make a sound as it was starting up. Thats all it just still went to white screen and file folder.
