I received my computer back from them yesterday, but when i opened it it was COVERED in packing material? (Thats what they said anyway). After talking to them they said they would cover my laptop for 90 days from water damage or Accidental damage! Only problem is, my computer screen flashes black randomly.. Anyone have any experience with it? So far they replaced the screen and the logic board...
I have an iMac 2.8 24 inch, about Two years old running 10.5.7 , when I start the computer it shows the normal Gray screen for about 30 seconds, then the screen goes all Black , but with a small flashing white line ( _ ) in the top Left hand side corner.
It just stays all Black for ever , I then hold down the On / Off button and turn off the computer, I then hold down the keyboard '' option key '' and press the on button at the same time , then I get the option to start from the main HDD , I click the Icon and the computer then starts normally , and every thing runs ok.
Can some one please tell me what I have to do to get my iMac to start up normally again , Ive run Repair Disk permissions but the problem still occurs . Over the last few day's Ive been trying out a few new applications, so not too sure if this has any thing to do with this current problem
I installed several system updates on my 2007 iMac last night, running OS 10.7, and today I can only get a black screen with a flashing white power light when I try to start up. My computer will neither start up nor completely shut down, and my wired keyboard won't communicate either.
I tried to install Windows 7 via Bootcamp a couple weeks back, but shortly after it failed, I deleted the Bootcamp partition in Bootcamp Assistant. However, whenever I want to boot my computer, it tries to go into the Windows Installation, but it gets stuck on the flashing underscore on the top left of the black screen. Henceforth, whenever I want to boot into OSX, I have to hold down both ALT keys. is there any way of fixing this so the iMac boots STRAIGHT into OSX (like normally)
I dropped my BlackBook, and now when I start it up its stays gray screen for a little while, and then a folder with a flashing question mark comes up. I researched it and it said to run off the restore disk and then run disk repair. Well I did, and I got "Invalid Node Structure, Volume check failed. Error: Filesystem verify or repair failed." I even tried going in to single-user mode with CMD+S, but it didn't do it. Same with safe mode. Could DiskWarrior help me or is my hard drive permanently damaged from the impact? Do I have to erase and restore? Or will that not even work?
i was trying to reformat my old mac mini, because i had lost the password and before i could reformat, it asked me for my password, when the dialogue came up, i click on details, and chose the second option down which i think was 'mac OSx installation disc 1'. my computer shut down, and now when i try to turn it on is flashing black and white every about 30 seconds.
I was going to download windows XP using bootcamp and I did everything up to the point to the point where you choose FAT or NTSF. Well the only thing there was NTSF so I decided to cancel it. It said it was going to reboot so I waited and it restarted. I ejected the disk and now the screen is black and theres a white underscore flashing. I restarted it and its still not workingand the screen is still black. How do I fix it? I already tried the ctr+option+p+r thing wiht no luck. Do I have to reinstall OSX again?
My screen starts to flash when my macbook Pro is on for a period of time. Does this mean it is going to die? Does the battery need to be replaced? Is the video processor going out?
My screen periodically starts flashing and getting huge white lines that run down the screen when I play games (only have crysis maximum edition) but then it stops and goes back to normal. Ive noticed that it doesnt happen all the time, and not at certain moments in the game (i.e. happens at one point but doesnt happen again at that same point a different time) and it will stop if i go and look only at a wall. Is this normal or is my MBP F'd?
When I turn my MacBook Pro on, the colorful pinwheel shows up and then the screen flashes white and goes back and forth from my screen saver to the white screen andI can't get it to stop.
When shutting down, we get a familiar light blue screen before the computer turns off. I'm getting this flashing at me while operating my MBP. It seems to happen twice, every so often. The screen will turn blue and become empty simultaneously for about a half second - then the screen I'm expecting to see comes back for about half a second - and then the light blue screen comes back again for about a half a second, and then everything goes back to normal. What the heck is this?
I must say, I'm having a little bit of a difficult time with my switch to Apple from Microsoft last November. I've already had to replace the logic board, it appears as if my network card is no longer working (I can only connect via WiFi) - and now I'm having this odd light-blue screen flashing... My video card?
I was given a MacBook 13" laptop, new to apple computers though. At first I was told the laptop itself did not power on. I charged it overnight, and it will come on, however, only to a white screen with a file folder in the middle with a ? mark in the file folder. I googled the screen and got several choices, start in save mode, did nothing. I called apple, since it is a 2006 model computer, it is of course out of support, but she emailed me articles to follow directions. None of them did anything, since it was given to me I do not have the start up disks, just the laptop and the charger. I did notice that out of all the steps the only thing that did anything different was the "reset NVRAM/PRAM" it made speakers make a sound as it was starting up. Thats all it just still went to white screen and file folder.
I came back from work to wake up my iMac. It made the noise but the screen stayed black. I tried restarting by holding the power button- I can hear it start and the chime but still have a black screen. I tried resetting the pram, and unplugging the cord but I still get a black screen. I can hear the chime though; I'm not sure if that means anything. I just had the hard drive replaced in February so I hope it's not that. just wanted to clarify that when I restart, I get the chime but the screen stays black- I don't get to the grey screen. So I'm assuming right now that my display may be shot?
I'm having a terrible issue with my MacBook Pro 2.2GHz Santa Rosa Core 2 Duo A1226 (not unibody). All of a sudden, the screen began flashing violently, terribly violently. And as soon as it happened, the entire computer froze up. After forcing it to shut down and powering back up, it cannot boot past the gray restart screen.
my Mac started doing this a week ago. The bottom half of the screen flickers/flashes lines. If I leave it open on a flat surface and I touch the screen for a little bit, it'll go back to normal. When I close the laptop, put it in my case, and travel around with it, the next time I open it up it'll start flashing again.
My computer started getting really slow all of the time and then it froze with the spinning rainbow. Normally if I simply press and hold the power button to restart it, the computer is fine. This time when I turned t back of I got a grey screen with the flashing question mark.
My computer froze on me and the rainbow cursor appeared. I forced my Macbook Pro to shut down and when I restarted it, a grey screen appeared with a flashing folder that has a question mark inside.
I tried the following:
1) restarting it holding down the "shift" button and nothing changed
2) restarting while holding down opting+command+p+r until I hear it ding 3-6 times - nothing changed
AND what causes this? This is not the first time I have heard of a Macbook Pro doing this...
So I have a DYNEX 21 inch HD TV conected up to my MBP via the VGA connection route. My problem is that when I want a program (or more specifically in this case a game) to go into fullscreen mode it automatically goes to my primary monitor and turns the other screen black. I know I can switch the primary monitor from my actual laptop screen to the TV however I just want the game to be full screen on the TV while still having access to my dock and everything on my laptop.
I have a problem with my screen - when there is something black on, I can see a faint mark of a lighter colour. I have tried to take a picture, please excuse the poor quality. There is nothing visible when the screen is off, even under close examination. Is it less visible when lighter things are on the screen, and invisible when the screen is white.
No drops or liquid spills. Will this go away on it's own? Any fixes?
This is unnerving. At random intervals, my screen flashes. It more like "winks" - as though a screen capture was being made. Actually, when you make a real screen capture, the screen doesn't wink, but that's the impression I get. The screen doesn't flicker or flash like it's a hardware bad connection, but goes through a fast, but continuous normal-white-normal cycle. I'm looking at my activity monitor to see if something is unusual, but I can't tell. Everything I look up seems to be real.
I've had my mac for about three years now and everything was working fine. After I installed lion, I notice that this started to happen. I don't lose any of my information though when it does that. It just goes into a sleep mode I guess? Anyways, is this a feature from the lion update? Something standard?
