MacBook Pro :: Desktop Shows Up As Blue But Shows Up Correctly In Settings?
Aug 21, 2014
My MacBook Pro 13", running on latest update, is showing a completely blue, plain blue, desktop background. It changed all by itself. When I tried to reset it by right clicking on the image I want on my desktop and selecting "Set Desktop Picture" nothing changes. When I go into my settings and try to change it that way, the image I want as my background shows as already being my background, yet my desktop is still blue. Tried rebooting already.

i have a daewoo HDTV and only yesterday for no reason when i plug my Macbook white 2.2 into it has this darkish blue tint appeared.... the macbook is normal while the TV has the tint.
the tv has worked perfectly before for 5 months! i ve tried different pc monitor cables.....could it be the short white MAC adapter? i have not changed any settings going into "display" and chaging the resolution/ frequency does nothing.

I am trying to get my MacBook LCD to work right. It happened because one time I was carefully wiping my MacBook screen with a little hand sanitizer and a paper towel. However, later my screen started to show a-lot of weird lines and eventually blue, pink and green tiny vertical lines but it is not completely renderd useless, it is just plain annoying and whenever I have an open window on the screen for a long time and I move it around eventually, it shows an imprint in the background into the screen and even when I restart, shutdown or use Windows in BootCamp it just shows up.

my mac seems to be slower as the days go by. on the start up screen when i first got it i can type in my password and when it goes to my desktop the macintosh hd icon is already there and the tool bar at the top with the battery and time is already there too. but now when i log in it seems to take time to load the macintosh icon and the tool bar. i also bought AirPort Express the little accessory that plugs into the wall and lets you get wi fi off of and wireless air tunes and printing.

I have just purchased a MacBook pro. When I put a blank DVD into my MacBook, a blank disk was shown on the desktop. On the MacBook Pro I get a File DVD.fpbf which when I try to burn a disc shows error code 0x80020063. How can I go back to the blank disc display?

Every now and then my desktop will show some weird colors in relation to the background image, but it's very odd looking. I don't really know how to describe it, so I've attached a screen shot for reference.
The problem goes away if I just move the mouse over the area or if I open and close a program window on top of the area.

I'm very satisfied with snow leopard, but with one qualm: I noticed that apple changed SOMETHING with the way expose works with gestures. Back in leopard, when I swiped four fingers down, it would expos, and four fingers up = show desktop. However this doesn't appear to be the case in snow leopard. When I swipe four fingers down, it often shows my desktop instead of going into expos. I have to swipe my fingers up and down a few times to get it to go into expos correctly. It's really odd and I don't understand why it's doing this. Could it be related to the fact that I have my upper right corner set to show desktop?

This has happened to me twice in a week on two separate machines, with two separate discs. When inserted into the Mac, the "blank disc" window comes up, even though the disc is full of files. The "get info" window shows 8k of space taken up on the disc.
How can this be, and what can I do to fix it?
Both machines are running Leopard.

I'm not sure if this make sense, but I'll do my best. (I'm a Mac newbie as of four days ago, and generally loving it)
I've somehow set up my display to have an appearance of a folding effect emanating from the bottom of the screen. This effect also shows through any open windows, which is annoying and distracting. If anyone knows what I'm talking about and how to turn it off, I'd appreciate it. I tried taking a screen grab, but the effect doesn't show up on it.

I am new to this seeing as my last macbook ran flawlessly for 6 years. Anyways, I just purchased a new macbook pro, and I love it except for the fact that I will get this weird white pixel that shows up on my desktop. The pixel is screenshotable and seems like it is sitting on a layer above my mouse. This pixel goes away when I restart my computer, but I think it comes back when I use microsoft word. This pixel moves off the screen when I use expose, and it is only present in desktop one. If i were to open a new desktop or view an app in full screen mode, the pixel is not there. I have tried reinstalling microsoft office but to no avail.

I have just completed rescuing a water damaged MB C2D which was originally a 2.16 and is now a 1.83. Fun project for a cold Sunday afternoon. 5 hrs I have one issue with the MB and that is the charging of the battery. The battery icon sometimes shows 'no battery' or if it shows a battery is recognized, it isn't charging. The LED on the mag-safe charger is always green. The battery is from the water damaged 2.16 and my thinking is that it may have suffered damage from being exposed to water. Original owner left the MB in the backyard and it started to rain!

I've got an imac with a dead monitor and when i plug in an external monitor to get a display it only shows me the far corner of the desktop and I cannot access the dock or anything else to change settings. I need to change the monitor setting to MIRROR MODE which I believe is located in System Preferences but I cannot see anything with the current limited display.

I've seen a lot of information about cleaning the MacBook, but apparently nobody had this problem
I have a MacBook Pro, and you can see the countour of every key in the LCD Screen. It's like you see a "ghost keyboard" in the LCD. Is there a way to remove / clean this? I tried cleaning the screen but it didnt clean this problem.

Happened suddenly yesterday. The screen appeared and stopped working. No reason. No movement of the machine. And today again after two hours of heavy Lightroom editing. A bit of cooling worked momentarily. (used a 12 pack of cold beer placed under the computer :-) Now, starts and freezes after a couple seconds.Apple Service checked to see if it was one of the "defect" graphic cards. It is not. It is an ATI (that is what they told me) they propose a "full motherboard" change

The left fan in my 15 inch 2.16Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo died, so I bought a replacement and fitted it myself. Before I put everything back together, I turned it on and checked the fan started spinning, and it did.
Even now, when I turn it on I can hear the replacement fan spinning, so it's definitely working.
Last night, whilst watching a film, the bottom of the macbook got REALLY hot, too hot to even touch, then it kernel panicked and turned off. So I installed iStat and it shows the left fan as running at 0rpm, even though I can hear it running and feel a slight blow. It just doesn't seem to be winding up when the mac gets too hot like the right hand fan does?

I'm having with Apple Remote Disc. I'm using a MacBook Air (1st gen) and the optical drive from a Dell Inspiron 1720. I was using Remote Disc successfully with Vista 32-bit, but upgraded to Windows 7 Pro 64-bit and I cannot get it to work now. I've followed the install instructions from Apple's website (have the latest version 1.0) and sharing is enabled. I've tried turning off Windows firewall, but no dice. When I click on "Remote Disc" nothing at all shows up. They are connected to the same network... I don't know what gives.

I have a new Western Digital 3TB drive that I am using as an external drive in a NexStar Hard Drive Dock to connect to my computer. I formatted it in Disk Utility but it only shows up as 746.5 GB and not the full 3TB. I formatted it through Guid Partition but the info says there is 0 partition. I don't actually need a partition, I am trying to use it as backup and copy about 2.5TB of files onto it.I have a Macbook Pro and am running Mac OS 10.5.8?

i very rarely use my MacBookPro away from home (scared of loosing it, LOL) almost all the time it is plugged into the mains 24/7, i just shut the lid when i am not using it. It is about 12 months old, but i notice that the battery meter never goes above 96%, does this mean the battery is on the way out and is going to get progressively worse ?I suppose it means the battery isnt going to last anywhere near 6 or 7 hours if i did unplug it from the mains?
