1- HDMI cable
2- Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Female Adapter.
3- this sit that include Audio Cable
[URL] I did connect everything my macbook pro very well to the TV using HDMI cable from the laptop to HDMI/DVI port in the TV. Also I connected the Audio cable from my Headphone port in my laptop to PC/DVI Audio IN in the TV. Yes I got the pic and everything is good but no sound at all. I tried everything and i searched the net but no luck or answer at all.

I know my MBP supports sound through HDMI, I've checked System Information and under Audio built in, there is HDMI Display port output. I don't know how to tell MBP to play sound through HDMI.

Have the tv on HDMI2 channel and the image is great and worked out the mirroring etc... but...NO SOUND. Have tried everything on the tv i can think of and found in the menu options.

Jan 31, 2010I have a vizio hdtv and I have hooked up the video with a hdmi cable adapted to the mini display port and that is working fine but I cannot send sound through it or idk how to. So i bought a optical toslink to mini toslink cable to send audio form the laptop to the tv but the audio still doesn't work. The laptop says that it automatically recognizes it as a digital output.

May 19, 2012I have a Sasmung LCD HDTV that is connected to my Macbook Pro via HDMI (MiniDisplay Port). The TV is connected to a Sony receiver that is capable of surround sound (reads AC3).The video and sound is working. However, I have an AC3 encoded video file, that doesn't pick up on the receiver. It just says "Stereo PCM" but it's not surround sound. Is there any way to fix this? What information would you need from me about this?

May 20, 2012Sound was working fine on mac mini (mid 2010) until I updated to 10.7.4. Now Toshiba TV shows up as an option under sound, but no sound comes out. I tested that my stereo system is not the problem - it still plays sound through hdmi from the blu ray player.I tried resetting PRAM and SMC on the mac mini, neither worked. I followed all the troubleshooting steps prior to resetting the SMC and the problem persisted.

Nov 28, 2010My early 2008 2.8GHz 8-core Mac Pro died last week. I tried all the usual stuff and ended up taking it to the local Apple store genius bar. They ran their diagnostics tool on it and did not find any problems so I had to leave it for a more thorough test. The Apple Store called a few days later and said it was either the main logic board and/or one or both CPU's. They -say- they replaced the main logic board and that did not fix it. They told me it would be ~$2800 USD plus labor to replace the the main logic board and both CPU's. So I took the machine over to another authorized Apple Service center for a second opinion. This other service center seemed confident they could determine which component(s) are defective. I am expecting a call from them on Tuesday of this week and hope to find out more then.
The symptoms are: When powering the machine I hear the startup sound and the display shows the apple logo. The machine boots for a little while (disk activity is heard) then the machine freezes for about 30 seconds then reboots or just freezes indefinitely. This happens with my 10.6.5 boot system, a second 10.6.x boot system on another internal drive as well as from the 10.6 SL DVD installer disc. Apple could not boot it off their network based systems either. Same symptoms on all startup disks tried so far...
So, I'd like to know where to go if I need to obtain parts and do the repair myself. I've built a number of PC's in the past and have no concerns about the undertaking. I just need to determine which parts I need. I'm not looking to "upgrade" the machine however if faster CPU's are available for a similar price I'd probably opt for the upgrade. At this point I'd be completely satisfied replacing the defective components with the same stuff that's in the machine now. Any pointers/links/tips/etc. would be most appreciated.
MacBook Pro :: Desktop Shows Up As Blue But Shows Up Correctly In Settings?
Aug 21, 2014My MacBook Pro 13", running on latest update, is showing a completely blue, plain blue, desktop background. It changed all by itself. When I tried to reset it by right clicking on the image I want on my desktop and selecting "Set Desktop Picture" nothing changes. When I go into my settings and try to change it that way, the image I want as my background shows as already being my background, yet my desktop is still blue. Tried rebooting already.
