I have just purchased a MacBook pro. When I put a blank DVD into my MacBook, a blank disk was shown on the desktop. On the MacBook Pro I get a File DVD.fpbf which when I try to burn a disc shows error code 0x80020063. How can I go back to the blank disc display?

My MacBook Pro 13", running on latest update, is showing a completely blue, plain blue, desktop background. It changed all by itself. When I tried to reset it by right clicking on the image I want on my desktop and selecting "Set Desktop Picture" nothing changes. When I go into my settings and try to change it that way, the image I want as my background shows as already being my background, yet my desktop is still blue. Tried rebooting already.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just switched to a Mac a few hours ago after using a PC for years. I downloaded Firefox for Mac, and it works fine. The only thing is I have a disc drive of it on my desktop, as well as an icon on the bar. I have mounted the drive and dropped the icon into the applications folder, exited Firefox completely and was successful at "ejecting" the drive so it left my desktop. The thing is, when I went back and opened Firefox, that drive thing came back and it asked me if I wanted to run the application or something like that. Is there any way I can get Firefox to open normally and run without that driver thing on the desktop.

BTW, currently, I have Firefox in the dock but when I click on it a box pops up and I have to again click on the Firefox logo for the app to actually open. Then something that looks like an external hard drive with the Firefox logo appears on my Desktop. Why is this happening?

my mac seems to be slower as the days go by. on the start up screen when i first got it i can type in my password and when it goes to my desktop the macintosh hd icon is already there and the tool bar at the top with the battery and time is already there too. but now when i log in it seems to take time to load the macintosh icon and the tool bar. i also bought AirPort Express the little accessory that plugs into the wall and lets you get wi fi off of and wireless air tunes and printing.

I am relatively new to the Mac. I have a Macbook Pro 2.2GHz. Today, a file keeps popping up on my desktop. It is named .DS_Store. The icon looks like a text document. I won't open it cuz I'm afraid of what it is, lol (Windows still clogging my brain). Anyway, I can drag it to the trash and delete the trash, but after a bit, it reappears.
Any idea how to get rid of it?
My iMac is making the most terrible noise when burning a disc, and after two or three tracks are burnt it gives me an error message and then will not burn anymore?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a disc full of photo's stuck in the disc drive on my imac. When I try to eject it, I get a spinning rainbow circle and have to do a hard shut down. It sounds like it is trying to eject it, but then gets hung up.

My G-4 startup disc is full and now the computer won't start up. I am told to put a startup disc in the drive and restart from it, but I cannot get the disc drive to open. I have tried everything, including copying over to external hard drive. I read that if you hold the mouse button down, the disc drive will open, but this hasn't worked.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a 2007 Intel MBP, running Leopard. I purchased the family version of Snow Leopard. When I tried to install it, it just spins the disc for a minute, makes the noise like it's trying to read it and then spits it out. All other discs work fine with my MBP so I know it is not the disc drive itself. I have all software "up to date." My brother installed SL on both of his MBs, one newer than mine and one older, just fine (with the same disc). I haven't seen anything out there with this issue so I wanted to start a thread to see if anyone knows how to resolve this issue (beyond taking it back to Apple and exchanging).
View 4 Replies View RelatedEvery now and then my desktop will show some weird colors in relation to the background image, but it's very odd looking. I don't really know how to describe it, so I've attached a screen shot for reference.
The problem goes away if I just move the mouse over the area or if I open and close a program window on top of the area.
I'm very satisfied with snow leopard, but with one qualm: I noticed that apple changed SOMETHING with the way expose works with gestures. Back in leopard, when I swiped four fingers down, it would expos�, and four fingers up = show desktop. However this doesn't appear to be the case in snow leopard. When I swipe four fingers down, it often shows my desktop instead of going into expos�. I have to swipe my fingers up and down a few times to get it to go into expos� correctly. It's really odd and I don't understand why it's doing this. Could it be related to the fact that I have my upper right corner set to show desktop?
View 7 Replies View RelatedThis has happened to me twice in a week on two separate machines, with two separate discs. When inserted into the Mac, the "blank disc" window comes up, even though the disc is full of files. The "get info" window shows 8k of space taken up on the disc.
How can this be, and what can I do to fix it?
Both machines are running Leopard.

I've somehow set up my display to have an appearance of a folding effect emanating from the bottom of the screen. This effect also shows through any open windows, which is annoying and distracting. If anyone knows what I'm talking about and how to turn it off, I'd appreciate it. I tried taking a screen grab, but the effect doesn't show up on it.
I am new to this seeing as my last macbook ran flawlessly for 6 years. Anyways, I just purchased a new macbook pro, and I love it except for the fact that I will get this weird white pixel that shows up on my desktop. The pixel is screenshotable and seems like it is sitting on a layer above my mouse. This pixel goes away when I restart my computer, but I think it comes back when I use microsoft word. This pixel moves off the screen when I use expose, and it is only present in desktop one. If i were to open a new desktop or view an app in full screen mode, the pixel is not there. I have tried reinstalling microsoft office but to no avail.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a G4, dual 450, 1G Ram running 10.4.11. Recently after downloading and opening an .rar file, a file named .DS_Store appeared on the desktop. I have since deleted the .rar file, but cannot delete the .DS file. It is appearing now in all of my programs, including my camera when I plug it in. I've tried ClamXav, MacScan, and DnsChangerRemovaltool, also What'sKeepingMe, but nothing can remove it. Info says it's a document, 16 KB, and it reads as date created the last time I turned the machine on. Can anyone tell me what this is and how I can get rid of it?

I formatted it in Disk Utility but it only shows up as 746.5 GB and not the full 3TB. I formatted it through Guid Partition but the info says there is 0 partition. I don't actually need a partition, I am trying to use it as backup and copy about 2.5TB of files onto it.I have a Macbook Pro and am running Mac OS 10.5.8?

I've had a fairly unusual problem since about 10.5.4 (on 10.5.8 now). My iMac, when connected to any other Leopard Mac, shows up as two computers in finder under "shared". Have a look at the attached pic. It shows its normal name as it should, but then it has the BSOD Windows icon (which represents a shared PC) with the name "mac001b63a6fc3b". Why would it do this? Does anyone know how to get this away?

If I hold options key I get two hard drives one that says just hard drive one that says windows. Windows seems to work fine other than the missing drivers for the Ethernet, wireless airport, and a few others. I have tried everything. I for some reason cannot get to the mac side. It doesn't even show up and nothing relating to bootcamp shows up. I split the partitions 35G to windows the rest to "mac" side. I would be just as happy with installing the drivers if I could get them installed I know very little about Mac's and should have left well enough alone.
