OS X :: Switching Between Phones And Providers - Bluetooth Tethering

Dec 2, 2006

So I have a Samsung Synch A707 on Cingular (personal line) and I have a Blackberry Pearl 8100 on Tmobile (work line).

I have successfully tethered both of them via bluetooth on my Macbook.

However, it seems to be quite a pain to switch between the two.

Unless I am missing something, I have to actually walk through the configuration wizard for configuring/adding a bluetooth device. Granted, all the settings are there, but it still seems like this could be easier.

After I do that, then I open up 'internet connect' where I have created separate configs for each phone/provider.

I also tried to create a separate location in the 'Network' setting (in the system preferences), however, it seems to default to the phone I used last.

OS X :: How To Sync LG Shine And Mac

May 7, 2008

I know this has been asked before but no one has answered. Does anyone know of any way to sync contacts between an LG Shine (CU729) and Mac OS X? Is it possible to put contacts on the MicroSD and then transfer them to the phonebook? I don't need an easy quick solution, I just need something that works. I have over 350 contacts and I don't want to type them all in.

MacBook Pro :: Verizon Tethering With Moto Q In Leopard

Nov 12, 2007

I'm having issues connecting to the internet through tethering with my Moto Q and my Macbook that runs 10.5. I haven't had the need for the tethering option for sometime now and not until today I realized that it doesn't seem to work quite the same way it used to with 10.4.

The first time I tried it worked just fine; the phone was recognized by the VZ Connection Manager (for those who are not familiar with it, it's the software that allows you to get on the internet through the phone) and a connection was established correctly. What I didn't realized is that the phone had crashed during the process (the Moto Q runs Windows Mobile and it crashes the same a PC would ), even thou it showed a healthy connection. So, I restart the phone and try again. This time things didn't go as planned: the phone is no longer recognized by the Manager (even after repairing the phone several times with the compy.)

I think I'm missing something but I can't get a good grasp of it. I've checked the config many times and I don't seem to find the problem. Any one else having issues with this as well?

OS X :: Which Option To Select For Tethering

Sep 10, 2009

The story so far: Using the bluetooth wizard I have connected to my nokia 5800 and am able to browse etc. Now I want to tether the nokia and share my 3g connection with my MBP when on the move, so I went into bluetooth->advanced-> share and I am here:(see screenshot). Now which options do I select to tether it? Unfortunately I don't see my phone model there, does that mean somethings wrong?

OS X :: Tethering Not Working With APN Change?

Jan 12, 2010

I'm tethering my phone (SE W705a) over USB using Apple's built-in functionality under Network Preferences. If I leave the APN field blank then I can connect and everything works, except for one app which requires a specific APN.

If I go into Advanced and enter the APN (direct.telecom.co.nz), then I'm unable to connect. I press Connect and it goes to Connecting, then after about two seconds swaps to Disconnecting then tells me that there was a modem error. On the phone itself I can see that it didn't even attempt to connect.

This used to work, but there are two things I can think of that may have stopped it: I updated to OS 10.6.2 (from 10.6.1), and I updated the phone firmware to the latest version. I'm not sure exactly when the issue occurred though, as I haven't needed to tether in over a month.

OS X :: Windows Mobile USB Driver For Tethering Via USB?

Feb 26, 2008

Does anyone know of a Windows Mobile USB Driver that would allow me to tether my HTC Kaiser to my MacBook Pro via USB? I've been tethering via Bluetooth and that works fine, but doing it this way runs the battery down on my HTC quite fast, especially with HSDPA active. Also, it would allow me to keep the Macbook Pro plugged in and have the phone charged/charging via the USB connection, so that I don't kill the battery on the phone. I'm sure I'm not hte only Windows Mobile user here and I'm hoping someone else has found a solution.

MacBook Pro :: Disable The Built-in Bluetooth And Enable A Bluetooth Dongle Instead?

Mar 4, 2008

I have a bluetooth mouse and keyboard that I want to share between a PC and MBP via a DVI/USB KVM switch. I think I can do this by plugging a USB Bluetooth dongle into the KVM's USB input.

If I use the MBP's built-in bluetooth then when I switch from one computer to the other via the KVM, the keyboard and mouse will stay paired with the MBP; but if I disable the built-in hardware then the dongle can provide the bluetooth capability and be switched between the computers.

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: IPhone USB Tethering Stop Working After IOS 5.1 Update

Mar 16, 2012

USB Tethering stop working (while WiFi and Bluetooth tethering continue to be ok) on Mac 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard fully updated) after my iPhone device has been updated from iOS 5.0.1 to 5.1.The present issue is not related to the iPhone (Personal Hotspot ok, Carrier/APN settings ok). Moreover, USB layer seems to be ok on Mac also due to the fact that iTunes recognizes it correctly. Network Services on Mac are instead affected. Steps to Reproduce:1. Remove 'iPhone device' from Network Preferences;2. Connect iPhone via USB cable to the Mac;3. A new 'iPhone device' does not appears while the /var/log/kernel.log says:[DGMTP_Drv.cpp][probe()][00103][ERRO] Current vid (0x05ac) and expected vid (0x04e8) is not matched Other interesting information preceding the mentioned above error on kernel.log are:kxld[com.apple.driver.AppleUSBEthernetHost]: The super class vtable '__ZTV20IOEthernetController' for vtable '__ZTV20AppleUSBEthernetHost' is out of date. Software :: Using Bluetooth Headset/non-apple Bluetooth?

Sep 1, 2005

Hey guys..>I'm trying to set up my jabra bt200 bluetooth headset to work with my mac (osx 10.4.2, 15" powerbook 1.67ghz)...and I can get it to pair, but it won't stay connected for more than a split second. this is a problem i've seen a few people have, looking around on various forums and stuff, and i was trying various solutions when i decided to try doing a firmware upgrade on the internal bluetooth module. I downloaded the firmware updater (1.2), tried to run it and it came up with the following error:

"This computer does not have an Apple Bluetooth module installed. It cannot be updated by this application."

Why would my Powerbook not have an Apple Bluetooth module?!?!?! It's got bluetooth installed, it's internal, but looking at the system profile, it says it's the manufacturer is Cambridge Silicon Radio. So is this normal or what? Is the firmware upgrade even going to help me out in the end? Just to clarify...the powerbook came with bt installed factory...it's not something added by me!

Has anyone else had this problem? I kind of need the BT to use my current setup. And I'm out of AppleCare time. (It's an OLD laptop.)

About half the time the bluetooth works fine, but the other half of the time the mouse jumps all over the screen like the bluetooth signal is bad or something.

I tried both an Apple bluetooth mouse, and a logitech DiNovo mouse and had the same problem with both of them so the mouse isn't the problem.

?Are there known issues with the MacBook Pro bluetooth?
