MacBook Pro :: After Installing New Snow Leopard OS Did Not Have Bluetooth Option Under My System Preferences

Aug 29, 2009

I recently discovered after installing the new Snow Leopard OS that I did not have a bluetooth option under my system preferences. I own a mid 2008 Macbook Pro (pre-unibody, more info below) and I know that I've used it before. I recently took my computer in to be repaired by Apple because the keyboard and trackpad were inconsistently responsive, and to fix it they simply replaced the entire top panel (with the keyboard and trackpad). I have also checked under the system profiler and it says that there is no information available for my bluetooth...what exactly does this mean? Did they forget to reinstall it? or what?

IMac (Intel) :: Can't Find Bluetooth In System Preferences

Jun 17, 2014

I bought a new iMac in November 2013 which has a wireless keyboard and mouse, which worked well but won't connect since OS was updated. I've looked in System Preferences and there is no symbol for Blutooth. In System Report / Blutooth it says 'No Information Found'. It's strange because the keyboard and mouse worked fine up to downloading and installing the update (to OSX 10.9.3.) How I can get the Blutooth up and running again?

MacBook Pro :: Bluetooth - Unknown Phone Connecting Without Permission?

Dec 5, 2014

I own a brand new Macbook Pro (Retina, 13", mid 2014, 256 GB SSD) with OS X Yosemite. When at home, I have noticed that an unknown smartphone (seemingly a Nexus 4) sometimes connects to my Bluetooth - without me ever having given it permission to do so! (The Bluetooth icon on my menu bar tells me that the phone is connected.)

As you can imagine, the thought of other people getting access to my computer, with my computer itself carelessly accepting,  worries me quite a bit. Of course I can temporarily eliminate the problem by turning off Bluetooth, but how do I prevent this phone - or any unknown bluetooth device - from connecting to Bluetooth without permission?

MacBook Pro :: Two Bluetooth Devices At The Same Time?

Apr 14, 2012

I'm thinking of setting up my MacBook Pro to have an area at home so when I'm home it can be used as a desktop with an external display.  However, when using the external display I don't want to have to use the built in keyboard or mouse pad on the computer.  If I get a bluetooth Magic Mouse and the bluetooth keyboard can they both be used at the same time on the computer as they are both bluetooth or does it have to have one device be wired?

MacBook :: Connect 2 Bluetooth Devices At The Same Time?

Feb 9, 2009

If there's actually anyone who uses bluetooth headphones and a bluetooth mouse at the same time....

do you experience any choppy lag on the mouse when you have both connected?

the audio seems to not have any issues, but the mouse seems to skip alittle bit hear and there. its not unbearable and it's still usable, but you do notice it. it works like normal when obviously the headphones are disconnected.

MacBook Pro :: File Transfer Causes Bluetooth Devices To Disconnect?

Mar 13, 2012

Whenever I try to upload files to my FTP site (via my standard FiOS wireless internet connection), my Apple bluetooth keyboard disconnects. My Apple Magic Mouse also behaves strangely (jumpy, but also disconnects sometimes). Both devices reconnect when the file transfer is complete. This happens both when I transfer files via the web browser OR using Fetch. What the heck? I'm having a hard time troubleshooting this issue or finding anything online about it, but the bluetooth disconnect and file transfer are definitely related, because my devices don't disconnect any other time, unless the batteries are low.

I want to reiterate: I am NOT trying to transfer files via bluetooth. The files are being transfered via wireless internet (Verizon FiOS), but the bluetooth devices are disconnecting during the transfer.

MacBook Pro :: Disable The Built-in Bluetooth And Enable A Bluetooth Dongle Instead?

Mar 4, 2008

I have a bluetooth mouse and keyboard that I want to share between a PC and MBP via a DVI/USB KVM switch. I think I can do this by plugging a USB Bluetooth dongle into the KVM's USB input.

If I use the MBP's built-in bluetooth then when I switch from one computer to the other via the KVM, the keyboard and mouse will stay paired with the MBP; but if I disable the built-in hardware then the dongle can provide the bluetooth capability and be switched between the computers.

Desktops :: 27"iMac Bluetooth Devices Won't Connect?

Jul 28, 2010

A few days ago the wireless mouse stopped working, and today the same with the keyboard. No new devices I know of that could cause interference. I set up my mouse on my wife's mac mini computer across the hall tonight. and it worked perfectly. My mouse and keyboard seem to want to connect, little lights flash, and sometimes my computer says they are connected for a few seconds, but no tracking or response to typing. Repaired prefs, brand new lithium batteries, no go.

Does anyone have an idea before I drag the 50 lb beast down to the Apple store?

Intel Mac :: All Bluetooth Devices Stop Working - Configuration Utility Does Not Open

Jun 27, 2012

I've seen 4-5 times where all bluetooth devices stop working all at once, and the Bluetooth configuration utility does not open, so the only solution is to shut down by pressing the power button. Sometimes, restarting once is enough to correct the problem. Other times, I have to do it again and hold down the shift key when I press the power button, and OS X sees the keypress and forces a safe restart.

Software :: Using Bluetooth Headset/non-apple Bluetooth?

Sep 1, 2005

Hey guys..>I'm trying to set up my jabra bt200 bluetooth headset to work with my mac (osx 10.4.2, 15" powerbook 1.67ghz)...and I can get it to pair, but it won't stay connected for more than a split second. this is a problem i've seen a few people have, looking around on various forums and stuff, and i was trying various solutions when i decided to try doing a firmware upgrade on the internal bluetooth module. I downloaded the firmware updater (1.2), tried to run it and it came up with the following error:

"This computer does not have an Apple Bluetooth module installed. It cannot be updated by this application."

Why would my Powerbook not have an Apple Bluetooth module?!?!?! It's got bluetooth installed, it's internal, but looking at the system profile, it says it's the manufacturer is Cambridge Silicon Radio. So is this normal or what? Is the firmware upgrade even going to help me out in the end? Just to clarify...the powerbook came with bt installed factory...it's not something added by me!

So I finally install the latest updates from Apple, and reboot, and now my Bluetooth icon says "Bluetooth Unavailable". I have a 1.5Ghz PowerBook G4 with internal Bluetooth. I've been using BT since I got this thing in late 2004. Now the icon doesn't even show up in the control panel.

Has anyone else had this problem? I kind of need the BT to use my current setup. And I'm out of AppleCare time. (It's an OLD laptop.)

OS X :: MacBook Pro Bluetooth

Jun 3, 2006

About half the time the bluetooth works fine, but the other half of the time the mouse jumps all over the screen like the bluetooth signal is bad or something.

I tried both an Apple bluetooth mouse, and a logitech DiNovo mouse and had the same problem with both of them so the mouse isn't the problem.

?Are there known issues with the MacBook Pro bluetooth?
