MacBook Pro :: File Transfer Causes Bluetooth Devices To Disconnect?
Mar 13, 2012Whenever I try to upload files to my FTP site (via my standard FiOS wireless internet connection), my Apple bluetooth keyboard disconnects. My Apple Magic Mouse also behaves strangely (jumpy, but also disconnects sometimes). Both devices reconnect when the file transfer is complete. This happens both when I transfer files via the web browser OR using Fetch. What the heck? I'm having a hard time troubleshooting this issue or finding anything online about it, but the bluetooth disconnect and file transfer are definitely related, because my devices don't disconnect any other time, unless the batteries are low.Â
I want to reiterate: I am NOT trying to transfer files via bluetooth. The files are being transfered via wireless internet (Verizon FiOS), but the bluetooth devices are disconnecting during the transfer.Â

Dec 11, 2014When I try to send a file to another mac pro with the same op system, it for some reason fails to transfer. I can receive but I cannot send. The Bluetooth File Transfer dialogue box recognizes the other machine however, it Fails to send and says "Internal Failure". Why and how do I fix it? Â

do you experience any choppy lag on the mouse when you have both connected?
the audio seems to not have any issues, but the mouse seems to skip alittle bit hear and there. its not unbearable and it's still usable, but you do notice it. it works like normal when obviously the headphones are disconnected.

Jul 28, 2010A few days ago the wireless mouse stopped working, and today the same with the keyboard. No new devices I know of that could cause interference. I set up my mouse on my wife's mac mini computer across the hall tonight. and it worked perfectly. My mouse and keyboard seem to want to connect, little lights flash, and sometimes my computer says they are connected for a few seconds, but no tracking or response to typing. Repaired prefs, brand new lithium batteries, no go.

Mar 4, 2008I have a bluetooth mouse and keyboard that I want to share between a PC and MBP via a DVI/USB KVM switch. I think I can do this by plugging a USB Bluetooth dongle into the KVM's USB input.
If I use the MBP's built-in bluetooth then when I switch from one computer to the other via the KVM, the keyboard and mouse will stay paired with the MBP; but if I disable the built-in hardware then the dongle can provide the bluetooth capability and be switched between the computers.

Jun 27, 2012I've seen 4-5 times where all bluetooth devices stop working all at once, and the Bluetooth configuration utility does not open, so the only solution is to shut down by pressing the power button. Sometimes, restarting once is enough to correct the problem. Other times, I have to do it again and hold down the shift key when I press the power button, and OS X sees the keypress and forces a safe restart.

Sep 1, 2005Hey guys..>I'm trying to set up my jabra bt200 bluetooth headset to work with my mac (osx 10.4.2, 15" powerbook 1.67ghz)...and I can get it to pair, but it won't stay connected for more than a split second. this is a problem i've seen a few people have, looking around on various forums and stuff, and i was trying various solutions when i decided to try doing a firmware upgrade on the internal bluetooth module. I downloaded the firmware updater (1.2), tried to run it and it came up with the following error:
"This computer does not have an Apple Bluetooth module installed. It cannot be updated by this application."
Why would my Powerbook not have an Apple Bluetooth module?!?!?! It's got bluetooth installed, it's internal, but looking at the system profile, it says it's the manufacturer is Cambridge Silicon Radio. So is this normal or what? Is the firmware upgrade even going to help me out in the end? Just to clarify...the powerbook came with bt installed factory...it's not something added by me!

Mar 26, 2008Recently my Bluetooth has been a pain in the... erm... posterior. I changed the batteries in my new apple keyboard today and since then it has regularly dropped out and disconnected, thankfully it reconnects its self pretty quickly. My BT MightyMouse regularly becomes jittery and delayed for about 30 seconds or so at a time. Very annoying.
It my or may not be related, but I've read about Wi-Fi and Bluetooth interfering now and then.

Now when I pair the phone and go to Browse Device on the iMac it lists all of my phone memory files but will only open the the SDPicture file. May 30, 2010I am transferring photos from a phone (LG) via Bluetooth. The pairing worked and now the photos are transferring to the Documents folder, which is fine, but I'd love to change the destination folder.
It seems like there should be an easy way to do this, but I can't find it. This is on a MacBook Pro running Tiger (10.4.11) (Yes I know I should upgrade).

Aug 7, 2008I have a macbookpro but my friend has recent the black macbook. I tried to startup bluetooth and do a file transfer but it doesn't work. It just scans and scans, loads and loads, but nothing ever happens.
I successfully paired the computers, but they are not "connected". I tried to right click on connect or click on it somehow inside the bluetooth pane in system settings but does not work. There is no actual 'connect' button. It shows a list of computers that are "paired" or "recognized". States if its paired or not and right below has the connected icon.
Does bluetooth have a file limit size or something?

Sorry, but Bluetooth File Exchange is good but is lacking in functionality (i.e. the ability to transfer folders or multiple folders) and has quite a cumbersome user interface.
