View 1 RepliesI recently bought an iPhone 4S and b4 that I got a 3GS.The problem is I cannot connect my iPhone to my mac for USB tethering.Synchronization is just fine with iTune and I can also tether through wireless as well.Just that i cannot tether through USB.

The story so far: Using the bluetooth wizard I have connected to my nokia 5800 and am able to browse etc. Now I want to tether the nokia and share my 3g connection with my MBP when on the move, so I went into bluetooth->advanced-> share and I am here:(see screenshot). Now which options do I select to tether it? Unfortunately I don't see my phone model there, does that mean somethings wrong?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm tethering my phone (SE W705a) over USB using Apple's built-in functionality under Network Preferences. If I leave the APN field blank then I can connect and everything works, except for one app which requires a specific APN.
If I go into Advanced and enter the APN (direct.telecom.co.nz), then I'm unable to connect. I press Connect and it goes to Connecting, then after about two seconds swaps to Disconnecting then tells me that there was a modem error. On the phone itself I can see that it didn't even attempt to connect.
This used to work, but there are two things I can think of that may have stopped it: I updated to OS 10.6.2 (from 10.6.1), and I updated the phone firmware to the latest version. I'm not sure exactly when the issue occurred though, as I haven't needed to tether in over a month.
Does anyone know of a Windows Mobile USB Driver that would allow me to tether my HTC Kaiser to my MacBook Pro via USB? I've been tethering via Bluetooth and that works fine, but doing it this way runs the battery down on my HTC quite fast, especially with HSDPA active. Also, it would allow me to keep the Macbook Pro plugged in and have the phone charged/charging via the USB connection, so that I don't kill the battery on the phone. I'm sure I'm not hte only Windows Mobile user here and I'm hoping someone else has found a solution.

View 8 Replies View RelatedSo I have a Samsung Synch A707 on Cingular (personal line) and I have a Blackberry Pearl 8100 on Tmobile (work line).
I have successfully tethered both of them via bluetooth on my Macbook.
However, it seems to be quite a pain to switch between the two.
Unless I am missing something, I have to actually walk through the configuration wizard for configuring/adding a bluetooth device. Granted, all the settings are there, but it still seems like this could be easier.
After I do that, then I open up 'internet connect' where I have created separate configs for each phone/provider.
I also tried to create a separate location in the 'Network' setting (in the system preferences), however, it seems to default to the phone I used last.
I'm having issues connecting to the internet through tethering with my Moto Q and my Macbook that runs 10.5. I haven't had the need for the tethering option for sometime now and not until today I realized that it doesn't seem to work quite the same way it used to with 10.4.
The first time I tried it worked just fine; the phone was recognized by the VZ Connection Manager (for those who are not familiar with it, it's the software that allows you to get on the internet through the phone) and a connection was established correctly. What I didn't realized is that the phone had crashed during the process (the Moto Q runs Windows Mobile and it crashes the same a PC would ), even thou it showed a healthy connection. So, I restart the phone and try again. This time things didn't go as planned: the phone is no longer recognized by the Manager (even after repairing the phone several times with the compy.)
I think I'm missing something but I can't get a good grasp of it. I've checked the config many times and I don't seem to find the problem. Any one else having issues with this as well?
What I'm trying to do is set up the apple tvs to be connected to a router that is not connected to the internet, which we'll call Router B.The Mac Mini has all the movies and TV Shows on the iTunes account is hardlined into another router that is connected to the internet, which we'll call Router A.Is it possible to have the Mac Mini hardlined into Router A (to have an internet connection) and simultaneously connected wirelessly to Router B (so the AppleTVs can pull from the Mac Mini iTunes.)?Or vice versa, hardlined into Router B (non internet connection) and Wireless to Router A (internet connection).

USB Tethering stop working (while WiFi and Bluetooth tethering continue to be ok) on Mac 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard fully updated) after my iPhone device has been updated from iOS 5.0.1 to 5.1.The present issue is not related to the iPhone (Personal Hotspot ok, Carrier/APN settings ok). Moreover, USB layer seems to be ok on Mac also due to the fact that iTunes recognizes it correctly. Network Services on Mac are instead affected. Steps to Reproduce:1. Remove 'iPhone device' from Network Preferences;2. Connect iPhone via USB cable to the Mac;3. I have a little internet problem. My mac mini does not recognise my ADSL modem, so I can only connect in a PC, and then plug an ethernet cable to connect my mac, with the pc, then I can use internet on my mac. I think that I'll buy a news usb internet modem, but for now on, I would like to use Parallel desktop (witch run very good ) to connect my mac on the internet. Problem : When the windows xp of my parallel desktop is connected to the internet, my mini mac is not, even if I tried all the networking option available.
View 4 Replies View RelatedYesterday the connection to the Internet stopped on a July 2011 Mac mini. Running Network Diagnostics gets as far as ISP (green light) and that's it. Red light for ISP and Server. All the other devices connect no problem. Have tried resetting and restarting everything. The odd thing is that ocassionally a page will load in Safari when going from choosing a network connection step to the selecting a wi-fi network step and when quiting Network Diagnostics.

Basically I have a g4 mac mini running 10.5 and I am trying to share from wireless to ethernet. I have that all set up in the internet sharing setup. I've tried many different tutorials online and I just keep running into an error saying it cant resolve the dns servers or whatever.
My router IP is 192.168.2.1
My macs IP is 192.168.2.10
I have the DNS numbers from my ISP
On the xbox I enter the ip of the xbox as 192.168.2.22
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.2.1 (router)
Then my DNS numbers manually set, I've also tried using my macs and routers IP's as DNS and no dice. I just keep getting the same DNS error. i have a bunch of ports for xbox live opened to my xbox IP. It worked for me at one point when i was using tiger but now it wont on leopard.
Can I use a mac mini to watch TV, streamed over the net using Airport extreme, on a 37 or 42 inch TV?

View 3 Replies View RelatedToday I added a new member to my Mac family and became the proud owner of a 2.26GHz Mac mini, which will be used as a home theater computer for my HDTV. It's been great, but I noticed one significant problem. I'm a usenet user, and on my MacBook Pro I download video at about 1.8MBps (not mbps, which my connection is at 15mbps) which is very fast and handy.
I bought this Mac mini expecting it to be able to do the same, but even from when I first opened Safari, I noticed the pages took awhile to load. Now that I'm using usenet, I notice I peak at 0.7MBps maximum but average at around 0.4MBps. What is the cause for such a discrepancy? I'm on a 802.11n network as well, powered by an Apple Time Capsule in fact. My MacBook Pro has no internet troubles and is blazing fast, I'm not sure why this is being so slow.
I recently got wireless internet. Before, the Mini worked fine connected by cable. It has never been connected to a wireless before. The wireless router works correctly, my $250 PC connected to it instantly. There is a yellow light on Airport and it automatically populates an IP address, whatever that means. I haven't installed any new software since it worked with a cable, no funky setup or third party anything- it's just a mac mini plugged into a TV I watch Netflix on and that's all.
My ISP said it's a problem with the computer, the Mac free support could not fix it. I really don't want to pay for an extended warranty or phone support on something basic that this computer should just automatically do. I haven't tried typing in a manual IP address- I don't know what that address would be. If all else fails, I will just run a cable to it again.
anyone know if a product can be registered with if the user has no internet access?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy mac mini has problems connecting to the internet it keeps disconnecting from the preferred network. When trying to reconnect, it says there's an error trying to join the network. When it can connect, it's only for a brief period. I bought it a while back and had this problem back then. I stored it away, and only recently dug it out again still having the same problem.

How do I enable Mac Mini to download from the Internet?

I have a new Mac Mini and it's connects to the internet via Wifi with no issues and the internet works fine. After it's been connected for awhile I'll pull up Safari and it won't load a page but shows that it's connected. If I disable the Wifi and re enable it, it'll pull up the webpage with no problem. All other devices connect and hold the connection but the Mini including Win 7 systems and Android devices.

I've had my (Mid 2010) Mac Mini for a few months now and been frustrated with intermittent WiFi connection (cuts out for no apparent reason and cannot connect to the router) I have other macs in the house so I know the network is working fine. Anyway, I noticed tonight that this only happens when an SD card is located into the slot on the back of the mini. So I played around with it for a while and as soon as the card is pushed in I lose my signal ? If I eject the card from the desktop nothing changes but as soon as I physically remove the card from the Mac Mini the WiFi connection is back and I can load internet pages again.

I found a Icon site. but do not understand what some of them are.
I am also having difficulty understanding how to bookmark easily in Safari like I do with Firefox etc?
Safari does not seem to offer me the option to bookmark a page and "choose "exactly where to place it. and also make a new folder in bookmark menu> all in one operation>>> also cant seem to get my bookmarks to stay in the left of screen. when open bookmark they open in a whole window... instead of on the left side of screen in folders ;like I am used to in XP. also is there a built in image capture program in Apple software... like "Hoversnap" In my window mchs ? I push the shift key and "print screen" keys at the same time and it save screen shots.

I know this is easily done in Windows, but what about OS X?

So, I am trying to share my internet (USB modem) via ethernet to my PS3.
I am aware that I must enable Internet Sharing in System Preferences, but, the option is not present there.
I have a Mac Mini running OS 10.6.8.
Suddenly the networking functionality has stopped working and the diagnostics fails to fix it. It shows all green lights apart from Internet and Server which both show as FAILED.
My router is operational and does assign the Mac Mini the correct IP address (confirmed by the Mac Mini and the Router). All other devices on the network work and can access the internet as usual.
I have tried everything that I can think of but just can't get it working again.
The same symptoms occur for both the wired ethernet and the wireless connection with the build-in airport.
