MacBook Air :: Bluetooth Mouse + Time Machine = Slow Mouse

Apr 20, 2009

I just upgraded from a MBA rev A to a rev B. I experienced this with both machines, so it's not just a rev A issue...

I use a Bluetooth Mighty Mouse and everything is fine... until my hourly wireless Time Machine backup starts. Then the mouse cursor becomes very choppy and sluggish. As soon as the hourly backup completes, the mouse's responsiveness returns to normal. Throughout all this, the trackpad is just as responsive as always -- no change there. I don't have another bluetooth mouse to see if its just the Mighty Mouse.

When this happens, the Activity Monitor is not spiked. The fans aren't running loud (so I don't expect its an overheating issue). This doesn't happen during a large wireless download -- just Time Machine. It's not a big deal, but rather an annoyance.

Any ideas why? Or even more to the point, any ideas on how to fix it?

MacBook Pro :: Bluetooth Mouse Vs Magic One

Jan 16, 2010

Ok, the Magic mouse is nice, it's pretty, it's got great scrolling features and it's bluetooth.

But after a few days of using it all day it's a pain. The ergonomics are not ideal, nowhere near as comfortable as my Logitech gaming mouse (can't remember the name) and my wrist hurts.

What is out there that is a good bluetooth mouse? They all seem a bit wishywashy to me, and the MS one I tried had dreadful latency that really bothers me.

Any suggestions?

MacBook Air :: Bluetooth Mouse - Much Delayed Movements

Mar 1, 2008

I purchased an apple bluetooth mouse last week for my MBA and it has been working great up until this morning. I went to use it and I have much delayed feedback in my mouse movements. Here are the things I tried:

1. Paired it with another mac w/bluetooth and it works normally.
2. Replaced the batteries on the bluetooth mouse, same issue.
3. Repaired the mouse with the MBA, same issue.
4. Changed the wireless channel on my airport express to 8.

MacBook Air :: Bluetooth Mouse Keeps Loosing Connection

Nov 8, 2008

Using a bt500 bluetake bluetooth mouse I keep losing the connection, and not being able to connect at all. The bt500 is super cool. I just got a new one because my old one stopped responding to the left button. Now it seems like every time I use the mba (also super cool) I have some kind of problem. Also the mba has frozen a number of times which never (or extremely rarely) happened with my MBPro and G4. I'm wondering if they've introduce a glitch into bluetooth.

Hardware :: Functionality Of Bluetooth Mouse For MacBook Pro

Aug 15, 2009

So I went out and bought the wireless Mighty Mouse. My first impressions are not good. Although I like the functionality, it just doesn't feel right - it feels a little flimsy and I can't get used to the scroll wheel. To top it all off, mine has a defect (it won't scroll left....only up/down/right). So I'm going to take it back to the Apple Store tomorrow. I think I'll end up getting something different, but I would like to keep with a Bluetooth one so I don't have to plug anything into my computer.

MacBook :: Bluetooth - Keyboard & Mouse Disconnects?

Oct 22, 2009

I've found many different explanations to why bluetooth on my Macbook would 'overheat' and then disconnect from all devices, only to show 'Bluetooth Not Responding'.

I was wondering if anyone has found a fix to this problem. I'm current on all updates running Snow Leopard. Normally, the bluetooth keyboard and mouse works for up to 5 minutes or so, but then loses its connection until it 'cools down' and then this process just repeats. The laptop is currently on a cooling fan and rarely needs the internal fan to even kick on so not sure what else to do.

So I'm looking for a fairly basic bluetooth mouse for my Macbook (white, Core Duo, 2 gigs RAM, 10.4.11) in an attempt to cut down on wires in my audio production studio. I don't want to get a Mighty Mouse due to some of the problems I've heard about re: the scroll ball. I'm looking on Newegg and a lot of the bluetooth mice look good, but most of them are designed for PC. Will they work with a Mac? Which ones do, and which ones don't?

MacBook :: Bluetooth Mouse - Error Connecting To Device

May 2, 2009

Today my mouse ran out of batteries, so I went to get some new ones. I replaced them, the light on my mouse went on, and it seemed to be working. But, when I tried to move my clicker thing *on the computer* with my mouse, it didn't move. So, I looked at the bluetooth symbol on my computer, I'm on a MacBook, and it showed that my mouse wasn't connected. So I tried turning off the bluetooth, shutting off my mouse and turning it back on, taking out and putting the batteries back in the mouse, and none of these worked. So I went to "Browse Device" and my mouse was there, I clicked on it twice and it said "There was an error connecting to the device". I also deleted it from the bluetooth list, and I am now unable to get it back on the list!

MacBook Pro :: Bluetooth Mighty Mouse And Apple Keyboard Just Freeze?

Jul 17, 2009

My macbook pro has the most annoying problem. Sometimes, in a totally random fashion, my bluetooth mighty mouse and apple keyboard just freeze. Bluetooth shows them as connected but they do not respond. Sometimes redoing the ?set up a Bluetooth device? option works but other times the computer refuses to see the devices and only a restart, followed by the setup assistant will fix the problem. Am I the only one with this problem or is it common? Hardware or software? Any fixes?

btw, I think it started doing this since 10.5.7 so I would say it is software...

MacBook Pro :: Bluetooth Keyboard And Mouse Respond Slow After 30 Minutes

Apr 20, 2010

I managed to get my hands on my new baby last Friday, new MBP 17" i7 with anti-glare! My wife also has a 2009 uMBP 13", which I have been using since Xmas while waiting for Arrandale! I use a stand with a apple wireless keyboard and wireless magic mouse. I have been having problems with the new 17" machine - the mouse and kb work fine for about 30 mins then the mouse gets really slow and jerky and the keyboard gets slow as well and starts displaying double / triple keys when typing etc. The only way to resolve the problem is to reboot. If I unpair the mouse and keyboard and repair this doesnt fix it - only a reboot works. I phoned apple care and they instructed to create a new test user, which I did - same problems.

Reinstalled OSX (machine was only 2 days old though!), and this didnt fix it. So, I took the machine back to my Apple Retail store and swapped it for a new machine. Finally finished setting it up again yesterday, and the problem started AGAIN - So it would seem that unless I have had two faulty machines (highly unlikely) it must be software related? I have been trying to work out what might be causing it - but running the machine without Parallels, Little Snitch, 1 Password, things which I thought could have been related to the problem. I basically ran the same system on my wifes 13" before I got the new machine and I had no problems with the mouse and keyboard. I have also changed the batteries on both the mouse and keyboard.

MacBook Pro :: Bluetooth Randomly Stops Working / Magic Mouse Does Not Respond

Jun 26, 2014

bluetooth on my 2013 MBP. I have a magic mouse and it randomly stops responding. At first I thought it was a problem with the mouse itself. I changed the batteries,To solve the problem and to get the mouse to work again, I have to actually restart my computer.

Then I realized that when my magic mouse acts up, if I open the Bluetooth preferences, in the spot where the name of my computer should be is this weird message that says "do not localize, name not available" So I've finally realized that the problems I'm having aren't with the mouse but actually the Bluetooth in the computer, either it's a hardware issue with the Bluetooth hardware or the driver is defective. Again, when I restart, I'm able to use my magic mouse again. And when Bluetooth is acting up, when I do try to open Bluetooth preferences, I get the beach ball and everything starts to hang.

I'm attaching pictures of what the Bluetooth preferences screen shows under normal operation with the name of my MBP and showing the mouse is connected and a picture of what the Bluetooth preferences window shows when it's acting up.  Is the Bluetooth defective?

Hardware :: Bluetooth Mouse ?

Jan 13, 2009

Does anybody know of any decent bluetooth rodents worth having a look at? I've come to despise the MM in my few months of using it. I found the bluetooth would constantly drop out (yet my keyboard never gave me a single problem) and that the tracking accuracy was appalling.

Ideally, I'd love the bluetooth version of Logitech's MX Revolution, but I don't want the entire wallet-busting desktop that it is bundled with. Equally, I'd like to avoid smaller brands, simply because I'm a self-confessed mouse snob (hey, I don't want CTS or RSI).

Also, I can't stand these minescule 'notebook' mice. That crosses the Logitech v470 right off the list, sadly. It doesn't look particularly nice, either. If I can't find a suitable bluetooth mouse, I think I'll be settling for Razer's new Mamba announced at CES 2009 (http://ces.cnet.com/8301-19167_1-10136619-100.html). Personally, I don't think there is a better brand of mice than Razer.

Mac Pro :: Bluetooth Mouse Unusable (Lag And Tracking)

Nov 2, 2009

About a month back, I purchased a wireless mighty mouse and tried using it with my 2009 Mac Pro. The lag and tracking were terrible, making it unusable. When connected to my MacBook Air (on the same desk) it worked flawlessly. I assumed at the time there was a problem with the bluetooth on my Mac Pro so I've been meaning to get Apple Support on the case but just haven't got around to it (using the old wired mouse as before).

Now, I'm reading some stories on the peripherals forum that owners of Mac Pro's have issues with lag and tracking with the new Magic Mouse, and some are stating that it's a known problem with the Mac Pro chassis that it doesn't enable adequate bluetooth operation due to all the metal. Is this true? What's your experience using a bluetooth mouse with the Mac Pro?

Windows On Mac :: Bluetooth Mouse Won't Work In 7?

May 20, 2010

I have a microsoft bluetooth notebook mouse 5000 that works well in mac osx but when I go to windows 7 in bootcamp it reports that the bluetooth hid device driver is not working and the mouse won't work.

I can get it to detect the mouse and try to load the driver but then it says that the driver installation did not work.

In device manager the bluetooth hid device has a warning icon next to it and it says that the device is not working.

When I try to use my magic mouse in windows the same error happens and it says that the hid bluetooth device driver is not working.

Both mice work fine in mac osx and the microsoft mouse was working ok in windows until last week.

Since then, my son installed a couple of games in the windows side and the mouse started acting up the following day.

Hardware :: New Multitouch Bluetooth Magic Mouse

Oct 20, 2009

Apple on Tuesday released what the company heralded as the first-ever multi-touch mouse, a new product called the Magic Mouse, the successor to the Mighty Mouse. Apple said that the new multi-touch hardware allows customers to navigate using intuitive finger gestures instead of mechanical buttons, scroll wheels or scroll balls. The entire top surface of the Magic Mouse is a multi-touch surface that can track independent fingers. The new hardware comes with the new iMac and is priced for standalone purchase at $69. "Apple is the Multi-Touch leader, pioneering the use of this innovative technology in iPhone, iPod touch and Mac notebook trackpads," said Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. "Apple's Multi-Touch technology allows us to offer an easy to use mouse in a simple and elegant design." The Magic Mouse is said to feature a seamless touch-sensitive enclosure that allows it to be a single or multi-button mouse with advanced gesture support. Using intuitive gestures, users can easily scroll through long documents, pan across large images or swipe to move forward or backward through a collection of web pages or photos. Magic Mouse works for left or right handed users and multi-button or gesture commands can be easily configured from within System Preferences.

The Magic Mouse laser tracking engine provides a smooth, consistent experience across more surfaces than a traditional optical tracking system. Magic Mouse uses Bluetooth wireless capabilities to create a clean, cable-free desk top and its secure wireless connection works from up to 10 meters away. To extend battery performance, Magic Mouse includes an advanced power management system that works with Mac OS X to automatically switch to low power modes during periods of inactivity. The wireless Magic Mouse is powered by two AA batteries which are included. Earlier this month, AppleInsider revealed that Apple was planning a makeover of its wireless mouse with multi-touch technology. It, along with a new wireless keyboard, were revealed in a subsequent filing with the U.S. Federal Communications Commission. The hardware previously carried the Mighty Mouse moniker, but that trademark was handed to the company Man & Machine earlier this month. Years ago, the small accessory maker sued both Apple and CBS for use of the name Mighty Mouse, which the peripheral company has used for its own dishwasher-safe computer mouse.[ View this article at AppleInsider.com ]
