My issue is with Preview. The annotate feature used to work fine, but now all of a sudden it cannot decrypt my signature (or anything taken with the iSight camera for that matter). I am running 10.7.3 on a 15'' mid 2010 MacBook Pro.

I have an external WD MyPassport HD that works well. I encrypted it and used it as my Time Machine backup disk for the past year.Â
Enter Mavericks. After a system failure a few days after Mavericks installation, I found a large iNode file in my root lost+found folder. The iNode is nothing special, simply a .pkg of the Mavericks installer. However, ever since that file appeared, my system refuses to acknowledge my password for the external HD. I know the password, it hasn't changed. But the password entry window does that wiggle thing whenever I enter the password. No, caps lock is not on.Â
So. I restarted in Safe Mode. Now, Mavericks recognizes the password for my external! Ain't that something? I would love to know why it doesn't recognize it in Normal boot mode.Â
But I still have a problem. Of course, it logically follows that I should decrypt my drive, erase Mavericks, and reinstall. Because, you know, I'm afraid of forever losing access to that drive if I reinstall OS 10.8 or even venture for 10.9 again, and the drive is still unreadable.Â
All of my backups are on that external disk, and while Safe Boot will READ the disk, IT WON'T DECRYPT IT! Does this have anything to do with indexing? Because another problem I'm having is Spotlight doesn't really work since I installed Mavericks either.
I would liketo add daily signatures to my e-mail messages using varios famous quotations.

So I find I'm one of the 6.5 million people whose LinkedIn passwords were recently grabbed by thieves (confirmed by LinkedIn). That password was used on a number of other websites, so I clearly need to run around and change a bunch of passwords.I have a ton of Internet passwords stored in my keychain though, so working my way through them one-by-one will take forever: double-click an entry, click Show Password, enter my login password, lather, rinse repeat. For some reason, there are several records stored for the same website. So, is there some way I can run the security command, give it my login password once, then have it display the unencrypted Internet passwords? I played around with it a bit a couple days ago, but never got it to work as I wanted. I'm on Leopard, but also have a Lion system available (assuming the Leopard keychain file can be grokked by the Lion keychain tools). Anything which will lessen the effort necessary to identify all my sites which use the bad password.

So now I have a bunch of reconstructed .dbf files and such, but I don't know how to access them. Any better way to retrieve the data I regretted deleting?

Is there a way to not have it automatically put your signature in email replies by default? I only use signatures when composing new messages and not when replying to emails. I understand you can select "none" from the drop down box manually but is there a setting for this so I don't have to do it each time?

I've left the box empty next to "Place signature above quoted text." Process works OK with text, however, when sending a photo, the signature continually appears above the image. View 3 Replies View RelatedI have several email domains all managed as aliases by gmail (e.g, me@aaa.com and me@bbb.com). Mac Mail appears to allow me only one signature per account. So when I set up Mac mail with multiple email addresses in the address field (me@aaa.com,me@bbb.com) it separates them into "smart" mailboxes nicely, but those mailboxes cannot be associated with a signature as far as I can tell. it is a very common requirement, since many people use google to host multiple domains.

Mail no longer adds a signature to a new email after years of working satisfactorily.When I create a new email the default signature does not appear. The Signature button shows 'None.'When I click the button and select 'Edit Signatures' the normal list shows up and I can select the desired signature and the 'Chose Signature' button has the desired signature. I then close the edit signatures window (clicking the red button) although no save dialogue shows up. Then click to start a new email and still no signature and the Signature button has reverted to None again.If I go to Preferences and select the Signatures panel, the 'All Signatures' is alreday highlighted (not my normal business sub group) and the 'Choose Signature' list at the bottom of the panel has reverted to None.

In Windows XP/Vista, if you are navigating in a folder containing pictures, and you click any picture, it opens up Windows built in preview program. Much like OSX. However, in Windows, you can click "Next/Previous" within that program to quickly flip through those photos. Why do the up & down arrows in OSX not work? I still prefer my iMac to any PC I have owned, but this one little thing bugs me to no end. Is there a setting I can change somewhere to make that work like in Windows?

I recently had to create 3 signatures on 3 separate devices and am now realizing that rules don't carry over from my iMac to my MBA or MBP.Â
if they're not supposed to sync (which makes absolutely no sense) hopefully apple will fix this in yosemite.Â
finally, i will say that, while being a huge apple fan (and would never switch to a pc), i've seen apple mail become one of those neglected softwares and have steadily gone on the decline in terms of features and consistency among devices that are supposed to communicate to one another.
