My macbook is reading my SD card and importing my pictures but not my videos. The videos are AVI. I tried reformatting my card but it still didn't work and some formats won't work with my camera. When I called Apple, I was told to download a codec, which hasn't helped. I downloaded DivX and when I open a video in DivX, it plays a blank, white, soundless screen.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am having an issue with final cut x where videos aren't being imported into an event. I have tried using the import option and dragging and dropping the files. The files are mp4 which I've never had an issue with importing before. The program was working just fine a few minutes before this happened.

I'm running iPhoto '06 right now and I don't want it to import videos, since it never can tell that they're duplicates and thus I end up with many copies of the same thing (which is difficult to clean up, since I have to go into Finder to do it). So I have two questions:
1) Can you stop iPhoto '06 from importing videos entirely?
2) If I upgraded to iPhoto '09, would that fix the problem? As in, will it either be able to recognize duplicate videos, or allow me to stop video importing?
My mac mini is an i5 2.3ghz with 8 ghz RAM with a 240 GB SSD. I import and edit a lot of videos using imovies and final cut.  a week or so ago final cut x started slowing down a lot and crashing and then imovie started wit hthe same simptons, i've tried reinstalling both, deleting the full .plist and preference files, i tried installing a fresh lion install and then installing just imovie and final cut and the same thing happens. does anyone have any idea of what the problem might be ? the fact that i used a fresh installation of lion and saw the same issues makes me believe it's a hardware issue but nothing else seems to slow down or have problems. Is it maybe the RAM? Â

So I was importing all of my videos onto final cut from my sd card when my friend asked if he could have the sd card. i started to safely eject the sd card but it was still loading.(it was still importing the rest of the videos into final cut). He then took the sd card out without all the videos importing over and deleted them off the camera. What do i do!!!! Some of the videos did transfer across but some didn't, the rest just say missing camera.Â
Note: I have already tried to use a sd card recovery application, they recover all the photos fine but all the videos come down with a black screen when played and scarcely audio.Â
What is my next step?Â
iphoto froze after importing while deleting photos from card. Then when i force quit, the photos were not on iphoto and were also deleted from memory card. what can i do to get photos back?

I've tried using the USB cable that came with the camera itself, as well as a USB card reader. iPhoto, and the laptop itself does not recognize the card, or that there is any device mounted at all. I've also tried checking "External Disks" in Finder Preferences, didn't seem to work.

I've recently upgraded to Lion and have found that Quicktime movies and embedded Flash movies won't work. With the embedded flash all I get is a black box, and with quicktime movies, such as the ones on the Apple website, I get nothing - the irony of not being able to watch movies on the Apple site with my Apple iMac gives me a little chuckle. Anyways ....... I've been reading thread after thread and trying lots of different things but nothing works. I've got this feeling inside that says it's something simple but just can't seem to find it.

I just put in a new hard drive and am moving my stuff from my external HD to my new HD. I opened Iphoto and drug the iphoto folder from my external into iphoto, but for some reason it didn't move my albums. It moved all of my photos, but didn't put them in albums. How can I transfer these so they stay in their albums.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAs the title says, I have a card reader that works great with a CF card, but the MBP won't recognize an SD card. This is a new problem for me. I also have an express card adapter for SD that won't read the card, either. I have tried 4 different SD cards, and these exact cards have worked for me in the recent past (within the past 2 months). They work fine in the camera. I also tried connecting the camera via usb, which was unsuccessful. I tried blowing air on the cards and the reader. I cannot get the cards to be read on my wife's macbook. This makes no sense to me, as it worked fine the last time I tried. I find it hard to believe that all cards are corrupt, or the cable is the problem because it reads the CF card.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a 1998 VHS tape of a family event I want to import into either iDVD or iMovie. I have a VHS player with both audio & tape banana plugs and the "S" connector. I have a digital Sony movie camera (about 8 years old) and it doesn't have AV & Vid inputs or an S input, only outputs. Is there any way to do this with this equipment? I would like to put the tape on a thumb drive or burn it onto a double layer DVD.

Now I have all my pictures imported and i'm happy with it. The problem is that every time I open iPhoto, it shows me this window: I tried importing them, but the only thing that appears is a "Recovered photo album" on the left column in the iPhoto, and it's empty. I tried finding the files in order to delete them, but couldn't find them in the directory (/users/id/pictures/iphoto/recovered...). Is this folder invisible? If so, how can I "see" invisible folders?

The drive does not feel hot to the touch, but I was just wondering if the drive will be okay if I continue to sue it for the next few days in the same way. I have been very busy the past 2 days, transferring pictures, documents, etc. from my pc to my mac. I have now gotten to begin transferring videos. I had several videos on my old pc that transferred just fine, but I also had several videos on the camcorder from a recent trip to Chicago. When I connect the camcorder to my Macbook via USB cable, the files are not transferable. I can't even play them. They all end in either MOI or MOD. Can anyone give me advice on what to do? I have already tried transferring them to my old pc, and then from there to my macbook, but that isn't working for some reason.

I have got a Canon Legria HF200 (1080i) videocamera and a MacBook late 2009. When I import the video that i have recorded into iMovie (I don't know any other ways - it's AVCHD format) the MacBook warns me that if I'll import in full resolution (1080i) this will might result slow playback on my computer. Why? When i preview the files before I import them the video plays perfectly fine. If I import them to my laptop and then view them they turn out to be played really slow and unclear. Would this be a problem with the way iMovie imports the file, or my hardware? Could it be that my HDD is to slow? This has annoyed me for months,
