I am using a 13" MBP to import a TON of cds into iTunes. I've been going pretty much none stop. The drive does not feel hot to the touch, but I was just wondering if the drive will be okay if I continue to sue it for the next few days in the same way. Would it at least be covered by Apple if I burn it up?
View 15 Repliesi have a problem, iphoto won't stop importing photos in iphoto. It has been importing for 2 weeks now and i doesen't finish. That means i can't shut my macbook down, so is running out of electrsity constantly... ive tried to hit the "stop import" button, ive tried to shut the pogram from the procesline..

I'm running iPhoto '06 right now and I don't want it to import videos, since it never can tell that they're duplicates and thus I end up with many copies of the same thing (which is difficult to clean up, since I have to go into Finder to do it). So I have two questions:
1) Can you stop iPhoto '06 from importing videos entirely?
2) If I upgraded to iPhoto '09, would that fix the problem? As in, will it either be able to recognize duplicate videos, or allow me to stop video importing?
If I have some MP3 files on my computer that have not been imported into iTunes and I import them by selecting them and opening them (thereby opening iTunes, copying the files to the Music folder, and adding it to the library), I noticed that the pause button becomes a stop button when it automatically starts playing a track. If I click the stop button, it stops playing the track, and when I click play again, it is not a pause button.

I've seen it many times around on internet, but it is driving me ABSOLUTELY MAD. After importing audio/video on iTunes (plus copy into iTunesLibrary), the file automatically starts playing. It is annoying me more and more, I can not seem to turn the function off. iTunes seems to be defaulted nowadays to start autoplay after importing music or video into iTunes~?

I have just purchased a Mac OS X 10.5.6 (Leopard) and I am trying to install this driver link (Scroll to the bottom). When I do I get about half way and it stops and starts at the beginning of the installation. I've noticed that it stops at info.plist. I have been able to install this driver on a Mac OS X 10.4.11 and it works great. The tablet seems to be recognized by Mac OS X 10.5.6 and I can used all the functionality of the tablet that Mac lets you. Such as write and so on and so fourth. The program Art Rage 2.5 works perfectly fine without the drivers but programs like Photoshop need this driver to detect pen pressure. I have contacted Adesso numerous times and have tried to call several times without any response. I'm hoping that someone may have the solution for me or perhaps could help me figure a solution.

Randomly the volume keys/brightness etc. stop working and i can't open apps or shut it down normally. Everything still works though (can still function in open applications) Anyone know what the problem is? It fixes when I force reset.

The system tells us "No Driver Update Needed for this System", and will not allow driver to be installed. Can anyone advise if the current driver is automatically installed or provided by Apple Updates. If not can you provide proper instructions on how to properly update the driver. Also how can we confirm what driver version is currently installed.

It is supposed to be the best burning package on mac. But I doubt it. I convert videos to dvd-video format using the absolutely brilliant windows7 application convertxtodvd. Please dont tell me to use a mac application instead of it. I tried it many times, there were always several problems(slow speed, subs etc). This is not the case here.
So, I want these dvd-videos in Video_ts format, to be burned in dvd disks using toast. It is supposed that video_ts folder are a standard folder, no matter the system you use. But toast has a different opinion. When I drag the folder in the dvd-video window, it asks to re-encode the video!!!If I try to burn this video_ts folder in windows machine using 'nero', no problem at all, straight burning! I really cannot understand why this happens.
Another problem I have is that the files I want toast to burn, usually reside to network computer. Is there any way to burn files from a network computer(win) using toast? Can toast access network or not? If not, I have to manually copy files to local disk, several minutes spent for copying gigabytes just to be able to burn them.
My new DVD burner will play CDs and DVDs and burn CDs, but will not burn DVDs through the finder. Will getting TOAST definitely enable me to burn DVDs? I don't really need it otherwise and I would rather not buy it unless it will definitely enable me to burn DVDs.

Next I downloaded a freeware program called Burn that looks simple and is all I need. However I when I try to burn I get an error "Failed: There was a problem authoring the DVD" Also I tried to use the burn to a data DVD mode and it wrote the data to the DVD (you can physically see it's there) but when it got to finalize I got the same error message and you can't read the DVD contents. I recently installed a VPN.
The performance through the VPN is badly affected by the Airport scanning regularly; often the VPN hangs.
I have deleted the unnecessary wireless networks listed in the Advanced button under Network Preferences. However, the problem persists.
Can you advise how to either stop the scanning or stop it interfering with Internet connection?
I just put in a new hard drive and am moving my stuff from my external HD to my new HD. I opened Iphoto and drug the iphoto folder from my external into iphoto, but for some reason it didn't move my albums. It moved all of my photos, but didn't put them in albums. How can I transfer these so they stay in their albums.

I have a digital Sony movie camera (about 8 years old) and it doesn't have AV & Vid inputs or an S input, only outputs. Is there any way to do this with this equipment? I would like to put the tape on a thumb drive or burn it onto a double layer DVD.

I tried reformatting my card but it still didn't work and some formats won't work with my camera. When I called Apple, I was told to download a codec, which hasn't helped. I just imported some pictures from my portable HDD, but the MBP got frozen in the process so I had to do it again. Now I have all my pictures imported and i'm happy with it. The problem is that every time I open iPhoto, it shows me this window: I tried importing them, but the only thing that appears is a "Recovered photo album" on the left column in the iPhoto, and it's empty. I tried finding the files in order to delete them, but couldn't find them in the directory (/users/id/pictures/iphoto/recovered...). Is this folder invisible? If so, how can I "see" invisible folders?

I have been very busy the past 2 days, transferring pictures, documents, etc. from my pc to my mac. I have now gotten to begin transferring videos. I had several videos on my old pc that transferred just fine, but I also had several videos on the camcorder from a recent trip to Chicago. When I connect the camcorder to my Macbook via USB cable, the files are not transferable. I can't even play them. They all end in either MOI or MOD. Can anyone give me advice on what to do? I have already tried transferring them to my old pc, and then from there to my macbook, but that isn't working for some reason.
