MacBook Pro :: No Sound Asus MX279 Monitor Hooked Up

Aug 20, 2014

Just purchased an Asus MX279H monitor to connect to my 2012 MacBook Pro (OS 10.9.4).  I'm using a 10ft DisplayPort to HDMI cable from CableMatters.  Picture display is working great, but I cannot get the sound from the monitor speakers to function.  The audio output cable to headphone jack doesn't work either.  I've even tried to configure the audio device via the Audio MIDI utility on the MacbookPro.  I can test the monitor speakers via this utility on the computer, but still cannot get the computer output to communicate with the speakers.I thought a cable would be a better option than using the VGA to DisplayPort Adapter.

MacBook Pro :: Connecting To A Asus ML228 LED Monitor

Dec 23, 2010

I have a 13inch MBP 2.4 GHz and I just recently bought a Asus ML228 22 inch monitor. It is full HD supporting up to 1080p. I have a mini dvi to hdmi connector so I can use hdmi to connect my MBP to the monitor. But every time I do the resolution is way off. I can not use the 1080p setting because the monitor says it is out of range so I can only use the 720p and that makes it look like crap and the 1080i and that looks good but the screen flickers. I have tried putting the macbook to sleep then closing the lid and waking it back up but sometimes it just flashes and says out of range and other times it goes back to 1080i with the flickering.

Applications :: Imac Hooked Up To Sound System?

Apr 16, 2009

I'm planning on having my imac just sitting on a table with visualizer running full screen and itunes in dj mode while the imac is hooked up to sound system, then I can moniter and control everything from my iphone anywhere in the building but I also want to have it so people can request songs and have them added to the list like remote and dj allows but I think it would be too complicated to have a actual itouch sitting there on the dj screen it'd be much better if I could have another computer sitting next to it in a request mode so people can browse the library and all and request songs like they could on the itouch but do it on a computer instead. I hope I made that understandable.

IMac :: Logitech Speakers Hooked Up - Sound Not Good

Aug 7, 2010

I just hooked up my logitech speakers to my IMac and they don't sound as good as they did on my pc. On my pc there was some settings that were the Realtek that had a bunch of audio options that made it sound much better. Is there anything like that for a mac? I can't find anything like that in the apple menu settings.

PowerPC :: Undo Display Rotation On External Monitor Hooked To G4?

Jan 20, 2010

I read the thread about how to pivot your screen over in another section but it didn't address what to do when it goes wrong. And it did...very wrong. I'm running a Powerbook G4 Titanium 15" laptop with Tiger OsX 10.4.11 and I hooked an external monitor to it. I was playing around with the settings and saw the rotation feature, which wasn't available until I attached the external monitor. As soon as I clicked on 90 degrees, both the main screen and the external fritzed out. I could vaguely see things through the haze on the main screen but the whole thing had stopped responding to all mouse and keypad commands. Eventually the only thing I could do to regain control was a hard shut off with the power button and unplug the external. After that the main screen booted up just fine but the moment I hook up the external again they go blue screen of death on me and I can't see what I'm doing to undo what I did!! I tried hitting the manual reset on the screen itself, which I didn't really think would work but hey, desperate times...

After some research on the internet I found out that, contrary to what the other thread says, not all Tiger enabled computers can run the rotation function, apparently because the scan rate, or something like that is too low. Which is why the option was disabled when only the main screen was running. Nice to know and would have been good to know sooner but what I need help with now is HOW DO I FIX THIS MESS?!!!! Some sites mentioned archiving (I'm moderately computer savvy but I'm not totally sure I know how to do that) and some have mentioned the boot disk, which I have but I want to make sure I know what will happen if I do that. I've backed up my files just in case. Will it erase the programs I've installed or just my settings? Or is it much simpler and is there something in the utilities I can mess with that will reset stuff?

has anyone tried the Asus U3S6 in a Mac Pro yet? If so, which OS X version does it require, and are additional drivers needed? It would be an extremely cheap option to get both USB 3.0 and eSATA 6Gb/s in our machines (would require two PCIe slots though).

MacBook :: High Frequency Ringing Sound When Both External Monitor & Speakers Are Connected?

Jan 8, 2009

I searched the archives and I can't believe no one has mentioned this yet! This is a huge problem on both my Rev A and my new Rev B. When you connect an external monitor and external speakers using the headphone output, there is a high frequency ringing sound coming out of the speakers. I've managed to live with it by turning the treble to minimum and keeping the volume low enough but at the expense of sound quality. The strange part is, if you disconnect the monitor, the ringing sound stops. The problem only occurs if you have speakers and monitor plugged in at the same time. I've tried this on my Samsung monitor, my SONY TV, and my Panasonic audio receiver. The problem occurs with both Rev A and Rev B while my white MacBook and 2007 MacBook Pro all sound fine.

Hardware :: Can't Run Sound To External Monitor / Fix This?

Dec 7, 2010

This isn't about the 27" ACD sound issues I posted in the other thread.

The new monitor came in, and I hooked it up tonight. The sound is still coming out of my MBP though (closed in clamshell mode). When I open System Preferences and then Sound, there's no option to select the external monitor. It only says "internal speakers".

Any way to help me fix this? I want sound to play through the monitor.

Mac Pro :: Running Two Monitor Displays - Suddenly New Whirring Sound

Mar 13, 2008

I have the early 2008 Mac Pro, standard configuration. I run a 30" ACD and recently added a second monitor. Ever since then I have been hearing this faint whirring sound, as if something in the machine is starting/reving up and then whirring down. It's audible to me because I have my machine sitting on top of a pedestal desk right beside my table. Does running two monitors make something inside, maybe a fan, run wierd? Could it be the fan of the video card? I am just curious, as I had not heard the sound before when I was running just one monitor. Oh, and the second monitor in question is a Wacom Cintiq. Video card is the stock ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT. I dare not open the side panel when the machine is running to check what's causing it lest I mess something up. It's like, rrrrrrrrrrrrr, rrrrrrr, rrrrrrrrrrr, like a miniature reving sound. LOL, that's the best I can do to imitate the sound. It's as audible as the sound of the regular fans.

How do games like Unreal Tournament 2004, Civilization 4, WOW and others perform? Is it playable or should I get a Macbook Pro?

Mac Pro :: 2 Monitors Hooked Up - Add Another

Mar 23, 2008

I'm just wondering what the cheapest way to go about this is. Currently my graphics card is the 8800, but I think I've read that you don't have to have the same graphics card to add more monitors (the ATI base graphics card will do just fine). So do I just need to purchase one from apple or am I able to get one cheaper from anywhere else? Also all of the supported graphics cards output 1920X1080 right? And on a side not - this output will be going to my television - is there any way to make front row default to the television output?

IMac :: Hooked Up To Satellite?

Jan 8, 2008

I have satellite TV.. Sky. We are upgrading our package and having Multiroom now which means we will have a box downstairs for our regular satellite and box upstairs which will be able to change channels etc.

Now, I plan on buying an iMac for my bedroom. But I have a decision of buying a LCD TV or using the iMac as a TV as well as a computer. Now it would save me money (as I'm definitely getting an iMac) and I would certainly be happy if it was possible to use the iMac as a TV and hook up the satellite to the TV. Is this possible? If so, please could you direct me to anything I would need to do this?

I was looking into Apple TV, but it just seems to be a Wifi gadget that allows me to watch iTunes movies/music etc on a TV. What I want is clearly different.

MacBook Pro :: Macbook Pro Hooked Up To TV Not Working

How to hook up my TV to my macbook pro. I successfully hooked up my new macbook pro to my old RCA-only television. I did this by using Apple's miniDisplayPort to VGA adapter then a VGA to RCA cable connected to that, then the RCA plugs in to the TV.

However, this does not work. The screen is black with only moving strips of "white noise" that is not on the TV when the cables are unplugged. When messing with the Display settings in System Preferences, these "white noise" strips react but the actual video is not working.
