sorry I don't know how to be anymore specific in a thread title. Next to my unibody Macbook Pro June 09's disc insert thing on the right hand side of the MBP, there looks like a little port or something? It's to the left of the disc tray which is on the right hand side of the MBP. I could have sworn that port wasn't a port, but now I think the cover fell off or something? Or was there never a cover on it?

I have a late 2009 MBP and when I press my f12 key usually a thingy zoomed in over my screen that had like a calculator, world clock, weather, and something else. I liked this thingy. It worked this morning while I used it to help do some basic math (I'm not a math person). But a few minutes ago when I hit my f12 key it didn't pop up! Instead there was a little dashboard thingy at the bottom of my screen that slid in and said "widgets" and reminded me exactly of the annoying widget dashboard on my old PC. I don't know how or why it has changed. How do I get the cool "zoom in over my screen thingy" back?

Question is - which do you guys think is better, the Speck or Incase cases? Anyone have any experiences? I had the Incase hardshell for my old whitebook.

I have seen a few videos about mastering and gave it a try myself. It can be done by clicking the master tab, then going to the Input 1-2 column setting and then clicking setting - mastering, etc.When I first did this a few weeks ago, there were many options such as hip hop mastering, electronic mastering, etc.Now, when I do so, I have different - much less enticing options and have no idea where the good ones went.
Over the last few days I've noticed a problem with missing icons. It seems to mainly effect icons in the Trash but I have one or two missing icons for videos and apps within the Finder and on the Desktop. The icon is completely gone - I have to click on the filename to select it. Quicklook works OK (for video).
I can't think of anything I've installed that would have done it except Onyx, but I haven't run that in weeks. I did repair permissions a few days ago but I doubt that could break this. It persists after a reboot. I can't get it to happen on command, it just randomly occurs. Creating a New Folder always works OK.
Desktop restart shows flickering black/white screen, then black. Could not restart.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI came back from work to wake up my iMac. It made the noise but the screen stayed black. I tried restarting by holding the power button- I can hear it start and the chime but still have a black screen. I tried resetting the pram, and unplugging the cord but I still get a black screen. I can hear the chime though; I'm not sure if that means anything. I just had the hard drive replaced in February so I hope it's not that. just wanted to clarify that when I restart, I get the chime but the screen stays black- I don't get to the grey screen. So I'm assuming right now that my display may be shot?

I have a late 2011 15" Macbook Pro with a 500 GB SSD, 12 GB Ram, i7 Dual Core Processor, 2.2 GhZ that runs on OS X 10.7.2 (Lion), and within the last couple of weeks, I noticed that a couple files and folders went missing completely. I even restored everything weeks back through Time Machine, but even then, the folders and files were not there. I do not backup a lot on this MBP as it's mostly my personal MBP and not a work one as my iMac is, but the folders that are missing, I would like to have back again. They were just folders with pictures in them and a few graphics that I worked on; they were saved in my Documents panel. I'm wondering what the cause for the problem would be, how I can retrieve the folders/files (or IF I can), and possibly how to prevent this from happening again.
The folders and files went missing without the MBP being booted, they disappeared while the MBP was on and logged in. I only have one user account on this MBP, and everything else seems to be fine, aside from the missing folders and files. I have scanned my MBP for viruses and everything else, but nothing comes up and I'm really careful with what is downloaded on all of my computers, anyway.

upgraded from a 320gb to a 512gb SSD. Works great except can only access the original 320gb. Can't expand the partition in disk utility, just hangs. I let it run for over 2 hours and the status bar was still spinning. I'm running OS 10.7.4..

I am new to macs. I just bought a used macbook air, and realized 3 screws were missing from the bottom, I called all the local repair shops, no one has screws for it. I would really like to get the screws. Longer ones by the fan I am more concerned about, where could I order them from without getting a while set for like $40? It is out of warranty so apple will not give me the screws.

So I thought to myself I'll try it out. So I followed the tutorial to where the last step I did was to restart the computer. So I restarted it and when it came on the top menu bar was missing and I couldn't open anything on the dock so I'm typing all this from my phone.

Will Apple likely adapt to this technology soon? I know it's dumb to always wait for the next computer just because the specs are not caught up. If everyone did this, no one would ever buy a computer, but I'm going to own this laptop for a long time, and am I really going to want to own something that will be missing USB 3.0 when that becomes the standard in a year?
View 24 Replies View RelatedI recently had my MBP taken to the Geek Squad to have the optical drive replaced under the extended warranty through BestBuy (which I didn't know I was getting BestBuy's warranty, not the AppleCare). When I sent it in, they replaced the bottom casing, optical drive, and the logicboard. When I got it back, I noticed that my serial number for my MBP is missing, they didn't enter the number when they replaced the logicboard. Is there a way so I can personally enter my serial number back into my MBP. I figure if I go back to BB, they will send my MBP off to the service center in Kentucky or something.
