MacBook Pro :: Sidebar Missing From Finder / Little Dot On Left Side Missing
Dec 29, 2010I clicked the little jellybean thing on the top right, and it only makes the menubar appear and disappear, but the sidebar is still gone.i don't have a little dot on the left hand side so i have nothing to drag. i checked my finder preferences and the folders are still checked.but even after all that... still no side bar.

Apr 27, 2010My 2010 15" MBP has constant Wifi dropouts, sometimes minutes at a time. Sometimes I have to reconnect. Yet it gets 4 bars. My MacBook never had these problems. It's generally slower, too. It's now useless for online video like Hulu. Anyone else seeing this? I wonder whether it's hardware (e.g. they moved the antenna, and/or because of the metal case) or software/drivers? I'm going to submit feedback after input from ya'll.

Mar 7, 2012I have a pretty old Titanium Mac Book that runs OS 10.3.9. It's a moderately slow machine, but still works- and although I realize that it won't be able to stream video or anything, I figure it would work for email, and basic web browsing- But I'm wondering if it's going to be compatible with any new products such as a USB wifi antenna - because the room where I want to use it won't alow for an ethernet connection-  Also, will the old 10.3.9 OS allow me to connect wifi to the newer airport extreme base stations?Â

MacBook :: Won't Work With Wifi Network / Drops Wifi
Jan 10, 2011MacBook. 2Ghz Intel Core Duo. OS Snow Leopard 10.6.6. I'm running a 2006 MacBook with Snow Leopard. A few months back it started dropping wifi connection. Airport would show no connection but would list my network along with others in my building. If I tried to connect with my WPA password it would just time out. At this time I was running Leopard.
Since then I've done a few things.Tried running the Netgear router with no encryption at all (same thing happens). Will lose connection and then time out trying to connect
I've tried the MacBook in a coffee shop with wifi access and at my parents (same NetGear router) and at my new apartment with a horrible Orange Livebox.
Taken the MacBook in to see the genius bar at Glasgow Apple store. Worked fine for them, but I explained it was intermittent but we could not force it to fail. I'm sure if it ran for an hour it would.
At present if I have the MacBook in the living room (where the Livebox router is situated) its fine and wont drop connection. If I walk some 5m to my bedroom it will work for approximately half and hour and then lose it. A few days ago I bought the Snow Leopard upgrade and installed it last night. MacBook runs a hell of a lot faster (yay!) but moving it away from the router and its dead as disco in half an hour.
So to clarify, the MacBook has been tested on 4 wifi networks/ locus with same issue. iPhone, Xbox 360 and PS3 all have no issues with dropping connection no matter where they are in the apartment.
Apartment is a new build and its walls are not made out of lead or kryptonite. Is this a hardware issue rather than software? When updating to Snow Leopard it was an update to the existing OS of Leopard not a clean install.
AIRPORT says the following in System Profiler.

MacBook :: Logic Express 8 Missing Options / Options Missing Under Master Tab
Mar 4, 2010I have seen a few videos about mastering and gave it a try myself. It can be done by clicking the master tab, then going to the Input 1-2 column setting and then clicking setting - mastering, etc.When I first did this a few weeks ago, there were many options such as hip hop mastering, electronic mastering, etc.Now, when I do so, I have different - much less enticing options and have no idea where the good ones went.
OS X :: Icons Missing In Finder / Apps And Video Icon Missing
Nov 30, 2010Over the last few days I've noticed a problem with missing icons. It seems to mainly effect icons in the Trash but I have one or two missing icons for videos and apps within the Finder and on the Desktop. The icon is completely gone - I have to click on the filename to select it. Quicklook works OK (for video).
I can't think of anything I've installed that would have done it except Onyx, but I haven't run that in weeks. I did repair permissions a few days ago but I doubt that could break this. It persists after a reboot. I can't get it to happen on command, it just randomly occurs. Creating a New Folder always works OK.

Files Missing On Macbook Pro
Jul 4, 2012I have a late 2011 15" Macbook Pro with a 500 GB SSD, 12 GB Ram, i7 Dual Core Processor, 2.2 GhZ that runs on OS X 10.7.2 (Lion), and within the last couple of weeks, I noticed that a couple files and folders went missing completely. I even restored everything weeks back through Time Machine, but even then, the folders and files were not there. I do not backup a lot on this MBP as it's mostly my personal MBP and not a work one as my iMac is, but the folders that are missing, I would like to have back again. They were just folders with pictures in them and a few graphics that I worked on; they were saved in my Documents panel. I'm wondering what the cause for the problem would be, how I can retrieve the folders/files (or IF I can), and possibly how to prevent this from happening again.
The folders and files went missing without the MBP being booted, they disappeared while the MBP was on and logged in. I only have one user account on this MBP, and everything else seems to be fine, aside from the missing folders and files. I have scanned my MBP for viruses and everything else, but nothing comes up and I'm really careful with what is downloaded on all of my computers, anyway.

Jul 5, 2012upgraded from a 320gb to a 512gb SSD. Works great except can only access the original 320gb. Can't expand the partition in disk utility, just hangs. I let it run for over 2 hours and the status bar was still spinning. I'm running OS 10.7.4..

MacBook Air :: Missing 3 Bottom Screws
Sep 19, 2010I am new to macs. I just bought a used macbook air, and realized 3 screws were missing from the bottom, I called all the local repair shops, no one has screws for it. I would really like to get the screws. Longer ones by the fan I am more concerned about, where could I order them from without getting a while set for like $40? It is out of warranty so apple will not give me the screws.

Next to my unibody Macbook Pro June 09's disc insert thing on the right hand side of the MBP, there looks like a little port or something? It's to the left of the disc tray which is on the right hand side of the MBP. I could have sworn that port wasn't a port, but now I think the cover fell off or something? May 31, 2010I recently had my MBP taken to the Geek Squad to have the optical drive replaced under the extended warranty through BestBuy (which I didn't know I was getting BestBuy's warranty, not the AppleCare). When I sent it in, they replaced the bottom casing, optical drive, and the logicboard. When I got it back, I noticed that my serial number for my MBP is missing, they didn't enter the number when they replaced the logicboard. Is there a way so I can personally enter my serial number back into my MBP. I figure if I go back to BB, they will send my MBP off to the service center in Kentucky or something.

Apr 3, 2012I recently noticed that my mac book pro, 17" display, with Dual 2.66 Ghz i7 processors is running slower than usual. I ran disk utility and onyx and everything is fine. When I run apps in general things seem ok except for Safari, which crawls at times and I get a lot of spinning beach balls. Seemlingly a very common problem lately. In trying to locate the source of the problem, I went to my preferences to see what OSX thought of my system. Low and behold, it thinks that I only have one CPU!!! The OS thinks I have 1 CPU where the apps know that I have 2 CPUs. When I am running apps that display the CPUs, (i.e. Activity Monitor, video apps, disk burning apps, etc) they all show 4 cores as expected. why the system would be incorrectly displaying only one i7 CPU? This has happened in recent weeks. The last time I looked (weeks ago) it correctly showed 2 i7 CPUs. I have reboted my machine several times already, so that's not it.
