MacBook Pro :: Reasons To Get Matte Over Glossy?
Feb 22, 2010So I don't mean to start a thread that already is out there, but I've looked around and haven't found anything answering my question. Which is basically, why would you get a matte over glossy? Is it entirely because of the glare? Or are there other reasons to get matte. Also, is it sometimes just a preference? Neither one is actually "better" right?

May 3, 2010I just jailbroke my iPhone 3GS and installed MyWi to work with my iPad. I also tried it on my MacBook Pro using Bluetooth. After I paired my iPhone and MacbBook Pro together everything worked fine. Now under the Airport Menu I see a separate category labeled "Devices" which is just below where my Home Network is.
My questions is how do I go about deleting this? I've tried everything. I deleted my device under Bluetooth Preferences, quit MyWi, messed around with the Network Preferences and it still appears under the Airport Menu. I even clicked connect but of course that doesn't work since I quit everything and deleted the device in Bluetooth settings. It's not even listed under "Preferred Networks" when you click on the advanced tab. It appears as "(my last name) Hotspot" and is under a tab labeled "Devices"
OS X :: Reasons For Keyboard And Trackpad No Response?
Mar 25, 2009I was just chatting with a friend on iChat and my keyboard and trackpad became completely unresponsive. I had sent a message to him, then went to reply to his response and there was just nothing there as far as input was concerned, both were completely unresponsive.
The only other running apps at the time were Mail.app and FontExplorer X Pro (which is always open for me, much like finder). Anyone have any notions why something like this would happen. In 6 years of Mac portable use (powerbooks and Macbook Pros), I've never had this happen to me. I had to hold the power button for 5 seconds to shut the computer down.
Software :: G4 Crashes For No Apparent Reasons
Jan 27, 2010I recently purchased a PowerBook G4 it had 512mb ddr2 ram as standard so I went out and bought a 2gb stick for it. After removing the 512mb stick and installing the 2gb stick it worked fine, and then it started to crash without anything being done, so initially I borrowed a known to be working stick of the ram and put that in and the errors keep coming up? Even with the original stick it seems to be crashing for no apparent reason. Before I installed the new stick it was working fine the the 512mb stick, but she still does it with the original stick.

Dec 1, 2009For some reason unknown to me, my "private" folder is visible. I've done all the "usual" things and even have an Automator action that shows and hides invisible files, but I just can't make it invisible again. Now this isn't really a BAD thing as I know how to poke around in there, but still... it's a mystery to me.

Sep 2, 2014When I tried to log into iCloud I got a message that for security reasons I needed to reset may pass word. I have tried to do that 3 different times. Each time I get this email:The password for your Apple ID has been successfully reset.If you didn’t make this change or if you believe an unauthorized person has accessed your account, go to iforgot.apple.com to reset your password immediately. Then sign in to My Apple ID to review and update your security settings.
However, when I try to login to iCloud I keep getting the same message that the password has been disabled. I can not figure what is going on as I was able to login to this forum with the new password.

May 1, 2010I don't think the IR receiver at the front of my MBP will be used, seeing as I'm not looking into buying an apple remote anytime soon. However, I was wondering if there was any software out there that would let me use it with other devices.
One specific thing i was wondering was if there was any way of accessing the IR receiver in boot camp Windows 7 to receive signals from an Xbox 360 controller (without the USB receiver attachment sold by MS)
MacBook :: Can't Read USB Devices?
Mar 30, 2009I tought that the problem was with my specific usb device, but i'v already tried with the 2 USB ports and with several usb devices. Everytime I insert a USB device into my computer, a screen appears saying that i need to turn off my computer and that i need to click on the power button for several seconds to do so. This has become pretty annoying since i can not transfer files nor make any backup on my computer because everytime i insert a usb (external hard drive or simple usb device) the screen appears and i don't know what to do. Does anybody know the reason why this is happening or a solution for this problem?

When I hit the volume buttons it shows a shadow of the speaker logo and a circle with a line through it under the volume bar. Jul 13, 2009I am new to Mac and like it so far. However, I am having some difficulty in one area. Whenever I connect an external device such as a mp3 stick or my psp via usb the device will autorun like crazy either uploading or downloading something. I cannot tell. When I hook it up to my PC I will find hidden files like .fseventsd and .spotlight . And if i delete something on the device it will create a trash bin and just move it to the hidden trash bin IT WON'T DELETE IT. Is there malicious software on my OS causing this or is this a simple fix I can disable in the control panel?

Apr 14, 2012I have a windows PC from work that I use at home and I connect to the Internet from the PC and all my other devices using Time Capsule. The PC connects to work on a work VPN but it also shows up on my Devices list on my MacBook. Is there a way to prevent the PC from connecting to the MacBook and to stop it showing up in Devices? I assume it's a OS issue but maybe it can be done in Time Capsule. Either way, I have no idea what to look for.Â
Here's why I want to do that. I have two external USB drives connected to my MacBook and they both keep staring and stopping at a minute or less interval. I finally realized that this only occurs when the PC is on and listed in Devices. So I'm pretty sure that the PC is doing something across the network that is causing the USB drives to spin up when they would otherwise be idle. I think it would fix the problem if I could prevent the PC from finding the MacBook.Â

'No Output Devices Found' MacBook Air
May 31, 2012A few weeks ago my MacBook Air suddenly would not play any audio. It would happne off and on. Usually the sound would come back after restarting. Now, though, I can't seem to get my audio to come back at all, no matter what I do. Here are a few screenshots to give you an idea of what's going on: I've restarted. I cleared permissions with Onyx. I verified and repaired disk permissions with Disk Utitlity. Still no audio.
