Hardware :: Airport Express Unable To Connect To Network - Should I Change Router's Settings
Sep 1, 2008i recently bought an Airport Express, and i finally took it out of its box after i purchased my new stereo. I connected the audio cable to the stereo and the airport unit and plugged it into an outlet. I opened up airport utility on my mac, AX appeared and i configured it to "join a wireless network". After completing the remaining steps, i updated it.. and waited for it to restart. Now here's my problem. It comes up with an error telling me it couldn't find the device after restarting. I have Verizon FiOS as my provider.. and I know that airport express has a history of trouble with the Actiontec router. Is there anything i can do with my current equipment to get this thing to work? I do not need to extend the network.. only join to use airtunes and print wirelessly... Also, my Actiontec router and FiOS connection are through my crappy dell pc downstairs, while i am using my 24" iMac upstairs in my bedroom trying to connect this. Should i change my router's settings?

Jun 26, 2010I have had my MacBook Pro now for a little over 2 yrs and I was very frustrated I could not change any print options in any application. I know that the Triangle button expands print options screen but when I do, I have only two print choices. It gave me Standard or Page Attributes in Office and any other App it is Standard and Last used settings. I can't print in Draft, Best or other setting because it does not even give them as a choice. I have two high end color photo printers, Canon i9900 and Epson Photo series and an old HP830 series. Any app I tried to print from and the same thing. I tried to capture the options on the choices but it would not grab that part of the image but here is my screen shot. I searched many forums and I still get the same answer so something else is not letting me change things so I figured best to ask since I am a 20 year win user now switched to Mac. Well right after I posted this question, my wife found the answer. I never though to check the application NAME in the print setting screen. Example, in the screenshot I am using Preview. I never thought to hit the up/down arrow next to the Preview label and wouldn't you know, that is were the quality and several other settings were. I felt pretty stupid that it took 2 years to figure this out but if I posted the answer maybe someone else will not have to take as long as I did to change their print quality!

Dec 15, 2008I recently was given a linksys router by one of my roommates and am trying to set it up for my parents. My problem is the wireless network is password protected and the settings panel is password protected as well and my roommate does not know either password. I've tried all the usual passwords but none of them are working. Is there anyway to do a hard reset to take all of these passwords off? I do have physical access to the router.

Aug 8, 2009I have an imac with netgear router, i want to turn off the security wep i setup, because with it my other computer PC in the other room will only connect at the 2.4G speed of 54 while my mac on the Dual N will connect over 100. Before I put the security setting on the PC would connect on N also. I am not really worried about security, live in rural setting and do not do online banking or buying. I can't seem to find where Mac stores the info to go back to NO security. Have spent all day trying to do this. By the way my macbook connects on the N and my toshiba lapbook connects on the 2.4. Can two be connected via the router to N at the same time? i thought they did before but now i am not sure.

Jan 9, 2010Upgraded a friend to Snow Leopard the other day. All was fine except that mail was taking 20-30 seconds to send mail. Finally isolated it to a router setting of some kind, as plugging directly to the modem resolved the issue. (The computer having trouble sending mail is actually a hard-wired desktop) However, when I plugged the router back in to set it up again and start troubleshooting, it would not save any changes. So logging into the router at 192.168.1.1 from the wired desktop, changing any settings, and pressing 'save' just brings up an 'unable to load page' Safari prompt.
Has anybody run into this issue after ugrading to SL? (or to Leopard, for that matter?)
I believe it's a Linksys WRT54g wireless router.
OS X :: Charter Wireless Router - How To Get Into The Settings
Mar 31, 2009I'm trying to enter a Charter wireless router to set up security - the cable guy set it up with no security whatsoever.
I have no documentation or anything for it. It only has Charter on it (and made in China ) but no manufacturer.

Jan 19, 2010I've owned a Netgear and a D-Link route before and with those, you could access all your router settings and statuses over the internet. The Login would usuallly be the ip address and the password would be one of your choice. I can't seem to find any settings to enable this on my Airport Extreme.

Feb 15, 2012Just downloaded Lion, now the Airport wireless router keeps dropping the cable modem settings so I can't access the network, internet or WiFi. I have to repeatedly go back into System Preferences, Network, Assist Me, Network Diagnostics, choose the network port config, select WiFi, select my network and it restores all network settings and says "Internet connection appears to working correctly." This problem apparently happens whenever the computer goes to standby/sleep.

Sep 15, 2009I did not have to use smc fan control earlier but ever since 10.6, it seems my notebook does not ramp up the fans until 90C or even higher. In 10.5 I would see the fans to start coming on when the temp got in the 80C range. Anyone else have a similar experience? I was converting a movie to my iPhone using Quicktime X last night and I saw the temp get to 100C before the fans ramped up and stayed at about 6200rpm. I hate to make another cpu temperature thread, but I am trying to see if Snow Leopard had any impact on SMC settings.
(I also did a SMC reset after installing SL and the effects are the same with the fan speed not coming on sooner) I guess now is the time to get the program to control my fan speed. Just sucks that Apple themselves cannot control their own temps
OS X :: Display Settings Visibly Change When Display Settings Panel Is Opened?
Oct 4, 2009I was using my MBP when I noticed that the display (the built in one) looked a little washed out. To make sure my color profile was set to the correct one, I opened up the display panel in System Preferences. The moment I opened it, the display snapped back to its regular appearance. As far as I can tell, it goes into the washed out version after going to screensaver and coming back, and going into display prefs is the only way to restore it. Anyone seen this before or know how to keep it from doing this?
