i beilieve it has to do with the port forwarding of my router (correct me if i am wrong). i can get into where to configure the setting of the router, but idk what exactly to do. i have a time warner cable supplied router, its an ambit DOCSIS 1.0/1.1/2.0 Compliant.

I used to be able to surf the web wirelessly on my Macbook laptop over my home network with no issues. I have Verizon FIOS router. Now, every time I try to run Safari I have to re-select my home router and type in the WEP password, every single time. I tell it to save the password to my keychain and it just doesn't remember my previous connections

View 15 Replies View Relatedi recently bought an Airport Express, and i finally took it out of its box after i purchased my new stereo. I connected the audio cable to the stereo and the airport unit and plugged it into an outlet. I opened up airport utility on my mac, AX appeared and i configured it to "join a wireless network". After completing the remaining steps, i updated it.. and waited for it to restart. Now here's my problem. It comes up with an error telling me it couldn't find the device after restarting. I have Verizon FiOS as my provider.. and I know that airport express has a history of trouble with the Actiontec router. Is there anything i can do with my current equipment to get this thing to work? I do not need to extend the network.. only join to use airtunes and print wirelessly... Also, my Actiontec router and FiOS connection are through my crappy dell pc downstairs, while i am using my 24" iMac upstairs in my bedroom trying to connect this. Should i change my router's settings?

View 12 Replies View RelatedSo, for the past 5 months or so, any time I'm using the internet at home, the connection speeds are atrocious. I bought a new modem (which Charter quickly dispatched as being "unsupported", despite 3 techs telling me it would work), tried hard wiring my iMac to check for wifi issues, and have basically just gone out of my mind with speeds that make dial-up look favorable.
Whenever I experience page timeouts or flat out no connectivity, I resort to the time-tested "turn Airport off/on" solution, which provides a page or two of fast connectivity before the slow downs continue. I'm beginning to think my router is on its way out, but the fact that it works sometimes makes me think it still might be the ISP.
My business uses a payment processor, and we have two iMacs hooked up to a router. Since both computers use the same gateway (same external IP address that the internet sees), the payment processor can only process payments from one iMac at a time. Both iMacs cannot run an order at the same time. My question is this: Is there a way to configure the router to give each iMac a separate IP address that the internet sees, so that they can both process orders with the payment processor at the same time? If this is a bit confusing, I will try to clarify more.

View 3 Replies View Relatedjust got a macbook pro and wanted to configure my hotmail accounts to be read in mail 4.2 in such a way any change I did in the webmail could be seen in mail and viceversa. When configuring it automatically (letting mail figure out all my account details) that didn�t happen; I was told that I need to set the account type to Imap for this sync to happen.
When I configure a new account in Mail 4.2 the account type (pop) appears automatically, and there�s no chance I can change it, not even afterwards when going to the account menu.
Adding 10 IMACS with OS 10.7 to my active directory domain. I would like for all users to have the same basic user settings at log in. how I can configure the MAC clients.

I used Migration Assistant to transfer apps and files from iBook G4, 10.4.11 to MacBook 10.6.2. The apps transferred and work great, except for iPhoto. I am still working on that one. The photos are in the MacBook, but I think I need to drag them into iPhoto. (?) The bigger concern is that once I found my transferred files in Users, I could not open any of the files without using my password - every time, every file. Further, even after opening the files, I cannot trash any of them without, again, using my password. Is there any way to get around this?
I tried not to use a different password when setting up the transfer, but Migration Assistant would not allow me to use the same one.
I recently was given a linksys router by one of my roommates and am trying to set it up for my parents. My problem is the wireless network is password protected and the settings panel is password protected as well and my roommate does not know either password. I've tried all the usual passwords but none of them are working. Is there anyway to do a hard reset to take all of these passwords off? I do have physical access to the router.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an imac with netgear router, i want to turn off the security wep i setup, because with it my other computer PC in the other room will only connect at the 2.4G speed of 54 while my mac on the Dual N will connect over 100. Before I put the security setting on the PC would connect on N also. I am not really worried about security, live in rural setting and do not do online banking or buying. I can't seem to find where Mac stores the info to go back to NO security. Have spent all day trying to do this. By the way my macbook connects on the N and my toshiba lapbook connects on the 2.4. Can two be connected via the router to N at the same time? i thought they did before but now i am not sure.
View 2 Replies View RelatedUpgraded a friend to Snow Leopard the other day. All was fine except that mail was taking 20-30 seconds to send mail. Finally isolated it to a router setting of some kind, as plugging directly to the modem resolved the issue. (The computer having trouble sending mail is actually a hard-wired desktop) However, when I plugged the router back in to set it up again and start troubleshooting, it would not save any changes. So logging into the router at 192.168.1.1 from the wired desktop, changing any settings, and pressing 'save' just brings up an 'unable to load page' Safari prompt.
Has anybody run into this issue after ugrading to SL? (or to Leopard, for that matter?)

I'm trying to enter a Charter wireless router to set up security - the cable guy set it up with no security whatsoever.
I have no documentation or anything for it. It only has Charter on it (and made in China ) but no manufacturer.
So I'm wondering if anyone here who has Charter and their wireless router could tell me what the IP address of the router settings is.
My router has ac but the Mac is using n. Do I have to change setting in the router or the Mac?

The Login would usuallly be the ip address and the password would be one of your choice. I can't seem to find any settings to enable this on my Airport Extreme.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently took a plunge and went for a gigabit fiberoptic line. However, my speeds are extremely slow. I am currently living in Japan and was provided with an NEC router. To this I've connected an Airport Express "N". I've set this up as my WDS main and I have another Airport Express "b/g" and this is setup as my WDS remote.
I don't have the latest equipment...running on wifi I have a PowerBook G4 and on Speedtest this is getting only 1mb/s or so. I have a PC connected directly to the router and this only gets about 6mb/s. It's a Compaq D510 (so, not the latest and greatest, but not ancient).

Just downloaded Lion, now the Airport wireless router keeps dropping the cable modem settings so I can't access the network, internet or WiFi. I have to repeatedly go back into System Preferences, Network, Assist Me, Network Diagnostics, choose the network port config, select WiFi, select my network and it restores all network settings and says "Internet connection appears to working correctly." This problem apparently happens whenever the computer goes to standby/sleep.

My time machine hasn't backed up since November 22. Every time it went for it's scheduled back-up it skipped and went to the next scheduled backup. When I tried to reconfigure the time capsule it won't let me select the disk that I would like to use for the time machine. Everything else is working fine (airport wifi at least). This is I believe a NetGear router issue (or maybe a Comcast issue), but has anyone else seen this.
When I download content using iTunes, the router will just halt every 20 to 100 MB of download. I can get restart the download (for 20 to 100 MB) by rebooting the router. But this is no way to live.
It is my assumption that the NetGear router is the cause, although I've had it for several years. But a second possibility is download caps on with Comcast ISP.
If anyone knows the cause for these issue, I'd like to hear it. What would the ISP like Comcast do to an iTunes download load if you hit a download cap? Would it have that symptom?
