Why can't I block a sender or a domain in Mac Book Pro (retina display) MAIL program? I am new to Apple and in Windows Mail this was in eliminating spam.  In MBP I mark the unwanted mail as JUNK but it keeps coming back.

I had some email come to me and I didn't feel like reading it that moment ... so i waited an hour or so and then I returned to my mail account to actually open and read it. Strangely enough it was not there anymore. My qurestion is this,.. if an email is sent by someone, ....and it is not opened up,... can that sender (using a downloaded app of some sort) retract that email after giving it some thought ... so that the recipient doesn't have that email anymore?Â

Is it possible that the sender (From) field of every incoming mail is announced? This would be fine when I'm in the same room, but away from my Mac. At the moment I only hear a beep when mails arrive, have to go to the Mac and check the sender, mostly in vain.

I''m using Mac Mail for all my mail account (4 of them) and they all work perfectly except for one of my account that is connected through Exchange. The problem is that all the mails are showing my name instead of the sender's name. Every time is switch to another mailbox and comeback to this one (which is my professional mailbox), inbox shows sender's name for 2 minutes, until it refreshes itself. I have one IMAP email account and setup various email aliases. I used for each alias also a sender name. I tried to setup different sender email addresses and names in Apple Mail but did not succeed.
I was only able to add a comma separate list o email addresses to one account but not different sender names for each email address.
BTW, I also can't setup different accounts for each email address because they share the same IMAP Mail Server with the same account username and password.
I've recently migrated to Lion and am finding the new layout of Mail frustrating as it shows my mail by the recipient rather than the sender. As the recipient is usually me, I have what appears to be a inbox of emails to myself but I have to open each email (or preview it) to reveal who actually sent it to me. Is there a way to have the sender (From field) showing in the list rather than the To field?
I need to have them sorted by Date so that the most recent messages are at the top. But when I choose View > Message Attributes the option to select "From" is already ticked but it is also greyed out. I have temporarily fixed this by using the classic view but I would really like to know how to do this in the new view?
My husband and I both use our one alias iCloud mail accounts. Both the alias and the main account were created in my name (not his) and yet his name appears as the sender and recipient on messages sent and received through the alias. I've rechecked settings in iCloud and his name is not anywhere. Why is this happening and how can I change it so that my name rather than his appears on messages?

I've added my standard Gmail account to the Mail app on my macbook air 2013 but i also have a school email from Google that I would like to add as well. This email uses a custom domain name so instead of [URL]... it would be [URL].... I've tried to add it in as a google account and as 'other' but i can't seem to make it work. Â

For myself and several others at our organization, Mail.app started crashing a couple of days ago whenever a message is opened and the sender's email address is in our Exchange Global Address Book. The question then is, how does Mail display or look up those addresses differently in the message reading window/pane rather than "external" email addresses?Â

View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm having trouble with my Apple Mail program. I have a number of e-mail accounts (some with Optimum online, a g-mail, yahoo, etc.) Apple Mail has no problem at all reading and downloading any mail from any of the services. My problem is with Optimum Mail (Optonline.net). Mail refuses to send anything through that set-up. I've been on the phone for hours with Optimum and the settings are all correct. I've tried connecting directly to the cable modem and mail gets sent. This would make me believe that it is the Apple Airport Extreme router that is at fault. I've tried restarting it, re-initializing it and setting it up again and the problem continues. All my Optimum mail is picked up and can be read but it will not send anything through Optimum. It asks if I want to send it through another server (like g-mail or yahoo) and if I pick yes the mail sends.
It happens on all my computers a G-3 and pre Intel iMac G-5 on Tiger and my Macbook on Leopard.
Anyone else hear of this problem? Both Apple support and Optimum online say they have never heard of it. Talking for hours with their tech departments have found no solutions.
I was wondering how do you block phishing scam emails from Mail (which I thought was full proof for this kind of junk emails)? Because quitely frankly the ones I'm receiving are irritating me largely because they're from banks I don't even have accounts with, also they're about internet banking which I don't even do. I've tried marking them as "junk mail" and then deleting them from my trash can in mail. This doesn't seem to stop me from receiving them?

It has OS 10.4 The mail program will open and the circle will start spinning like it is trying to "get mail." it will spin and spin and eventually close. It will pop up and say mail quit unexpectedly will show that report and reopen box. hen mail is open and the circle is spinning, you can send mail and it works fine. It just will not load new mail.aNy ideas? The mail is version 2.1.3

Is there an easy way to export all of that into gmail? I see I can import mail into gmail from other mail accounts, but here I am talking about importing mail that is now stored locally.

I am trying to switch my email program from Thunderbird to the mac email program Mail.Thunderbird has been playing up a lot recently and am tired of the glitches.

When I wake Lion out of sleep, mail frequently does not find new messages from my aol account. Even if I hit "Find Mail", the new emails do not show up. Maybe an hour or more later they will finally come through
These mails are showing up no problem under notifications on my iPad & iPod touch.
If I restart mail, it finds the messages immediately .me works fine, gmail also Idle is on & it is set to check every minute
