Jun 5, 2014Outlook Mail. I just recently set up two new email acounts to my mail. They worked perfectly for two days then yesterday, at random my outgoing mail stopped working (incoming still works).
Both of these accounts are"Exchange" accounts. As of now when I look in my availabe "Outoing Servers" it doesn't show that I have any. How to configure it to my exchange accounts.

Jun 26, 2012I was able to set up monitoring incoming mail with sender_bcc and that seems to work when mail is incoming and BCC's to a 3rd party to check the mail.
Now for the person sending an email to a person outside the organisation. Need to do that because the company has been made aware that emails have been sent out to the opposition.

May 20, 2012I've recently migrated to Lion and am finding the new layout of Mail frustrating as it shows my mail by the recipient rather than the sender. As the recipient is usually me, I have what appears to be a inbox of emails to myself but I have to open each email (or preview it) to reveal who actually sent it to me. Is there a way to have the sender (From field) showing in the list rather than the To field?
I need to have them sorted by Date so that the most recent messages are at the top. But when I choose View > Message Attributes the option to select "From" is already ticked but it is also greyed out.I have temporarily fixed this by using the classic view but I would really like to know how to do this in the new view?

Jun 15, 2012I couldn't find a "Mail-specific" forum, so will post here for help. I’m running an older version of Mail (2.1.3) on a PPC G4 MacMini with OS 10.4.11. I have two IMAP accounts feeding into Mail, one my Apple iCloud account, and the other my work Exchange account. All seems to be working fine, but I have a question about the outgoing mail server settings. For iCloud, the outgoing mail server seems to have been automatically set as “smtp.me.com” and it uses Server Port 587 with SSL and Password authentication. For my work Exchange account, after lots of trial and error, it uses Server Port 25. Why does one use 587 and the other 25 as a Server Port? Is this OK from a security standpoint? I really have no understanding whatsoever of this stuff.

Mar 31, 2009In my Mail app I currently have two email accounts set up. One is my main email and one is my college email. I only use the college email account because my school sends all of their stuff through it so I need to monitor it. For some reason however, this account has become the default account that Mail wants to send through. To use the other account I have to click the drop down menu under the subject field. This happens even though my main account is the top account on that drop down menu. I have looked through all the preferences and cannot see where I can choose a default sending account.

I currently don't have the account I'm trying to phase out configured for SMTP, so the message sending fails (and I want to keep it that way), but I have to manually change the address the message is sent from each time I reply to a message someone sends me at that address.

Apr 13, 2012I have an early 2011 MacBook Pro running OS Lion (10.7.3) and in the last two weeks I face the following problem with the Mail application and my Yahoo mail account: although the account appears in the side bar of the application and it will search for new messages when I launch the Mail app, it doesn't load any messages and I also realised that all Mailboxes of the named account are blank! The messages appear normally when I reach my account through the Yahoo page! I tried to remove and re-import the account in the Mail app, but it just worked for two days and now the Mailboxes are blank again! I have no problems with the other two mail accounts I reach through the same application (both POP accounts).

Mar 17, 2012I'm migrating the admin side of my life to my iMac. I am using Mac mail for my mai, this includes a Gmail IMAP account and a POP3 account for my meandering ISP. The IMAP one loads up fine with the IMAP folders there under a sub set of folders for the account.But the POP3 account won't let me create folders within it nor does it have a subset like the Geekwolf one you see below.What do I need to do to get it to have folders, I need to be able to sort incoming mail, but at the moment, I can't.My ISP does have an IMAP setting, but I don't want to have the mail sat about on a server.

However, I do not want to restore all the accounts and all the mailboxes, just the one that was lost.
How to I find the Inbox for that account, in order to use the older file in Time Machine to restore it with?

I have more than one email account set up on Mail and the strangest thing happens and I can't find out how to stop it.
Here is the problem:
- I have 2 accounts, 'Account A' is for my partner & 'Account B' is for me.
- Someone sends an email to 'Account A' (my partner) and CCs 'Account B' (me) into the same eMail.
- If I click reply from 'Account B' it sends the eMail from 'Account A' which is my partner, when it should be from me.
I have worked out that this is because 'Account A' was originally sent the eMail in The 'To' field as opposed to the 'CC' field in composing the reply eMail. I know that I can manually change the 'From' field every time when replying to an eMail but it becomes an nuisance. I forget to do it when quickly replying as I consider Mail to reply from the account that I'm reading the email from.
I have gone to the compose section in the preferences and there is an option for changing this when composing a new email but nothing when replying.

Mar 11, 2012I had some email come to me and I didn't feel like reading it that moment ... so i waited an hour or so and then I returned to my mail account to actually open and read it. Strangely enough it was not there anymore. My qurestion is this,.. if an email is sent by someone, ....and it is not opened up,... can that sender (using a downloaded app of some sort) retract that email after giving it some thought ... so that the recipient doesn't have that email anymore?

Oct 31, 2009I have one IMAP email account and setup various email aliases. I used for each alias also a sender name. I tried to setup different sender email addresses and names in Apple Mail but did not succeed.
I was only able to add a comma separate list o email addresses to one account but not different sender names for each email address.
BTW, I also can't setup different accounts for each email address because they share the same IMAP Mail Server with the same account username and password.

Both the alias and the main account were created in my name (not his) and yet his name appears as the sender and recipient on messages sent and received through the alias. I've rechecked settings in iCloud and his name is not anywhere. Why is this happening and how can I change it so that my name rather than his appears on messages?
