Each time I have my MacBook Pro up and running, with my Apple Mail app running and I connect via FaceTime to someone, the mail program starts making tons of nosie as if it's sending and receiving mail over and over and over and over again. I have a 2/2011 MBP 15" maxed out.
View 4 Replies View RelatedFor some unknown reason my mail program is just now asking for a password when I attempt to send an email. I verified the password with my ISP. When I go to the Mail program/Preferences/Accounts I see a screen that has three sections. The third section offers "Outgoing mail server (SMTP)" but offers no box allowing a server number such as 587... Why is that option missing? What is likely causing this sudden request for a password?

I have been given the attached one-pager with screenshots of how to configure a Windows Outlook client to work with our corporate email system (Exchange).
I want to configure the Mail client on my Mac, however.
Can anyone give me a clue where these things are entered? When I add a new account in Mac Mail, and choose Exchange 2007, I don't see similar fields. My guesses so far have resulted in "the server cannot be contacted on port 443
I've been troubleshooting this for over an hour now. My AOL account wont send msgs only receive them. Everytime i try to send i get the error below, i run a diagnostic and mail says it connects with the server fine but sending messages is a no go area.
I've quadruple checked the settings and they seem fine.
This morning, I started Mail as I do everyday, but I could not assess my iCloud mail. I used Connection Doctor and the report that Mail was able to connect to the internet but under iCloud, the message was "Could not connect to this iCloud IMAP server. Check your network connection and that you entered correct information in the Account preferences. Also verify that the server supports SSL. If it does not, deselect the "Use SSL" checkbox in the Advanced tab of Account preferences." I checked the Account preferences and see the incoming Mail Server greyed out. It said p03-imap.mail.me.com I had been using Mail everyday and moved from Mobileme to iCloud once I upgraded to OSX Lion 10.7 several months back. I have upgraded the OS to 10.7.3.
I tried to assess mail in Safari and was successful. I checked the iCloud status and it was on. I did the following try to resolve the problem. I repaired permissions. I deleted the iCloud account from Mail. Then I unchecked the Mail & Notes checkbox in the iCloud pane in System Preferences. I restarted the computer and rechecked the Mail & Notes check box in the iCloud pane in System Preferences. Then opened Mail and opened it Preferences. Then I added one account. Filling the Name, email address and password in the form. When I pressed continue, I get the message, "The iCloud IMAP server 'p03-imap.mail.me.com' is not responding ..." At the moment I am using the browser to assess my mail. Is there some way to get back assess in Mail?

Since I have had my system upgraded to Maverick I can no longer download emails from my server/provider. Mail asks for the password for the user (me) and when I type it in nothing happens.
There is no problem connecting to my server/provider online, so the server is working ok. My guess is that I am missing some crucial ticked or unticked box in the mail set up.
like I said, no email alerts of mails getting through at the moment (so have to read everything only when I'm online...).

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm having trouble with my Apple Mail program. I have a number of e-mail accounts (some with Optimum online, a g-mail, yahoo, etc.) Apple Mail has no problem at all reading and downloading any mail from any of the services. My problem is with Optimum Mail (Optonline.net). Mail refuses to send anything through that set-up. I've been on the phone for hours with Optimum and the settings are all correct. I've tried connecting directly to the cable modem and mail gets sent. This would make me believe that it is the Apple Airport Extreme router that is at fault. I've tried restarting it, re-initializing it and setting it up again and the problem continues. All my Optimum mail is picked up and can be read but it will not send anything through Optimum. It asks if I want to send it through another server (like g-mail or yahoo) and if I pick yes the mail sends.
It happens on all my computers a G-3 and pre Intel iMac G-5 on Tiger and my Macbook on Leopard.
Anyone else hear of this problem? Both Apple support and Optimum online say they have never heard of it. Talking for hours with their tech departments have found no solutions.
As I am working on my mail server I would like to ensure that I have some form of back system to prevent me from looosing e-mail messages in the future, specially those that are business related. Once in a while we experience a power outage and I would hate to loose an important business e-mail sent to us at a time when the mail server is down.
1. Is there a way to have/use a remote secondary mail server so that in case an e-mail is sent but can't be delivery to our mail server, it is then re-routed to this secondary mail server so that it isn't lost. In this case how should this be set-up both on the server in OS X 1.6.8 and on the outside?
2. I plan to set up an account with Google or another e-mai service provider but would like my e-mail to use my own domain name instead. How simple would this be to set UP? Will Google allow the creation of e-mail accounts with the use of domain names other than its own?
My video camera (JVC) has a USB port, when I connect the cord from the video camera to the macbook, it doesn't recognize it. I assume you can connect it to the computer this way since it has a USB port on the cam. The cam has firewire (which mac doesn't) and it charges from a dv connection.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI work remotely a lot. After I upgraded to Lion server, I am unable to connect to the VPN service remotely unless I physically go over to the server (mac pro) and log into the desktop manually.
Previously, if my Snow Leopard server restarted (due to power failure, etc) and it re-booted up to the login screen, I could still logon to the VPN remotely as the VPN service would always startup (at the login screen) without a user having to be logging in.
Now, with Lion Server (10.7.4), if the server restarts, I cannot login back to the VPN. I have to get someone to go over to the server and manually login, then I can access VPN just fine. (I do not, and will not turn automatic login on on my server due to the huge security risk.)
How do I get the Lion Server VPN service to startup before or at the logon screen even if no user is logged in?
My mail application has started to open at start up of the computer. I seems to have happened at the same time as I installed Avast anti virus trial. But I am not sure if it happened at exactly the same time. I have checked the log in items in accounts and mail is one of them.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to using Server admin on a remote Mac to manage our xserve. Both are running 10.6.8 and I've installed the Server Admin tools onto the mac. Both the Workgroup manager and Server Monitor work OK on the mac, but whenever I try and connect the Server Admin it always comes up with the error : "The login information is incomplete for this server or is not valid. The server failed to accept the login information you provided for <servername>. Check the name and password and try to log on again" I can't connect using the server name, FQDN, or IP address. The macs are all using OD and AD and I've tried both AD and local OD accounts (all administrative) but to no avail. DNS is working OK and I can resolve the server-name with dig and dig -x. I can screen share the server so connectivity isn't the problem.

But since he got back from a trip the laptop doesn't connect anymore. I can ping the server. And when I try to redo the network drive I'm prompted to enter my credentials. I am running multiple services with the latest version of OS X Server (10.6.8) on my MacMini (web, vpn, mail, ichat, ical, address book, etc.) . Everything has been working fine for the last year and no changes have been made to the server, settings, ISP, or DNS, with the exception of installing the latest system software updates. Now, when I try to open my websites or connect remotely via VPN I get a "cannot connect to sever" message. All other services are still working as they should. The server is hooked up to an Airport Extreme via a cable modem with a static IP. I have tried the following thus far:
1) checked all cables and they are plugged in and seated properly.
2) restarted the server, airport extreme, and cable modem
3) turned Web services off and on again in Server Admin
4) checked the DNS via the web and my site addresses are pointing to my static IP address
5) checked the Airport's port mapping to make sure Web Service was still on
6) checked my websites SSL certificate to make sure it's current and enabled
7) tried disabling SSL
8) created and enabled a new self-signed SSL certificate
Recent log activity shows:

I'm assuming the "key.pem' does not exist or is empty" part is the issue, but I am a novice and have no idea what that means.

I'm running Symantec Backup Agent on our mac osx server. I start the agent in the terminal (./agent.be). It returns a notification that it started the service, however, it doesn't return to the prompt. Closing the terminal gives a warning that the process will be closed if the terminal is closed. Closing it does kill the process. Ctrl+c to return to the prompt also kills the process. So it's as if once the process is started in the terminal, nothing can be altered.
I am not much of a mac guy so please forgive me if this is a stupid question.
Anyone have any advice on how to handle this so the process is ALWAYS running?
So for some reason my MacBook Pro is acting weird at my apartment. When I try to connect the the internet it always comes up as safari cannot open the window because safari cannot connect to the server. However when I run diagnostics it says my internet is working correctly. I can not open websites such as facebook, google, youtube, etc. But I can open Bing and Ask.com. I have cleared my catche, deleted cookies, tried reseting my router, and nothing works. But then when I go to school I can connect to the internet and all of the other websites fine. What is going on with my computer is there something I need to do with my router at home or what?

I have a Macbook Pro. It has OS 10.4 The mail program will open and the circle will start spinning like it is trying to "get mail." it will spin and spin and eventually close. It will pop up and say mail quit unexpectedly will show that report and reopen box. hen mail is open and the circle is spinning, you can send mail and it works fine. I have all my old mail and sent mail downloaded locally in the Mail program.
Is there an easy way to export all of that into gmail? I see I can import mail into gmail from other mail accounts, but here I am talking about importing mail that is now stored locally.
I just installed some routine updates for my Mac and now I can't receive any mail in my apple mail program. It is version 4.5 and I am using a mobile me account. I have never had any problems before and obviously very annoyed. I know I can access it view the web but I like apple mail. I am able to send.

I am trying to switch my email program from Thunderbird to the mac email program Mail.Thunderbird has been playing up a lot recently and am tired of the glitches.
I have all the correct server settings etc and succesfully imported my mailboxes. The problem is that when I send an email it isn't from the right email address?? Is this a Mail problem or smth to do with my settings? I'm with Virgin media and have a separate set of email address through my website for my business so my email address are through freeola that I am using through Thunderbird.I'm sorry if this all sounds very stupid but I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out where I have gone wrong!
