May 5, 2012I'm trying to setup mail on Lion Sever (7.3). The only way I can get it to accept incoming mail is to specify the whole FQDN of the server in the address. For example the domain name is example.com and I have a user set up called john. Sending mail to john@server.example.com works.
But sending mail to john@example.com (which is what I want) returns an error:
554 554 5.7.1 <john@example.com>: Relay access denied (state 13).
For internal DNS, I have:
example.com - primary zonemail.expample.com - alias server.example.comserver.example.com - 192.168.1.2 [URL] - alias server.example.com MX record [URL]
I see references here to problems in mail on 7.3 but not this specific problem.

When I right click on a group, and click "send to...", none of the email address show up in the TO field, only the name of the Group appears.Previously, I used mac mail and clicking "send to" group would result in all email addresses going right where they're supposed to go.I don't know how I changed the client to Gmail, but if I can't get it to work, I'd like to switch it back.

Jun 14, 2012I appreciate Mail's efforts to streamline the inbox by grouping emails into conversations based on the subject. However, when I search for a specific string in an email, the search returns the conversation of grouped messages and does not indicate the specific point in the message containing the text. In the case that finally prompted this post, the conversation contained 50-odd emails, since all of them contained the appended text of all the previous exchanges in the chain. I am then left with the task of scanning through 50-odd emails, whether they be separate or all retained within a single message, for the particular string I'm after. And that defeats the whole point of searching to begin with.Â
So, am I missing some functionality that overcomes this? Really all I want is for the search to return not just the email, but the location within the email (or chain of emails) where the text is found. Returning 50 hits because each email contains the text somewhere in the lengthy history of the conversation, without actually showing me where in the conversation the text appears,

Apr 5, 2009How do I send email addresses in an email? I wanted to send my family some addresses so they could email more family in an evite invitation. I'm not using my mighty mouse anymore. I use a Targus one as I have arthritis and it's scrolls much easier. I don't think that makes a difference does it? I thought it was a right click and it would highlight the address, and the person who receives it can just click on it.
I use Hotmail and Roadrunner email. I have accounts in Gmail and Yahoo as well, but rarely use them, unless one of my main ones aren't working. What do I do, or what do I have to have in order to click and high light the address? I tried sending links as well and can't get them sent so others can click on them and open it as well. I've used the insert link box and it hasn't worked. I could do this on my pc I have sitting over there collecting dust but not on my IMac.

May 9, 2012When I got my Mac, I added two email addresses (both Gmail server but different "@ portions" i.e. @gmail.com and @___.org). I've deleted the @___.org email because it didn't matter whether I sent it from one email or the other, they both end up in sent items of mny @___.org email. So even replies from my [URL] address gets sent to the other email.I've deleted the other email and I'm pretty sure I didn't link the two accounts on Gmail so I'm not sure what's happening.Â
