I have set up the option for deleted mail to go to trash. I have deleted all email from the actual gmail account. Yet I still have almost 10k emails sitting on my Macbook. I have repeatedly deleted them, but they keep reappearing!

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I send 1 email to 1 recipient from my gmail account on mac mail, the mail activity monitor on the bottom left indicates that I am sending 2, 3 or as many as 5 emails. It takes a long time to send when this happens. It only happens when I send from the gmail account and never from my other accounts. I have no "extra" mail in my sent folder. Is someone else sending email from my computer?

Im trying to clean out my hdd, and found 10GB of archived mail. I have my gmail setup with IMAP, so i have a copy on googles servers of everything. How can I delete these archives without deleting the copy on gmail? I just want to start fresh on my end, and leave everything save on the server.

I was trying to reduce size of my Mail.app for very long time and nothing works correctly.
Ideal situation would be something like this:
E-mails older than 2 months will automatically delete from Mail.app but not from server. Or it doesn't have to be automatic, but I have to keep them on gmail.com. I'm not sure if it is possible with IMAP.
I synched my work (.org) Gmail to Apple Mail with IMAP, and then took the account "Offline" in Apple Mail. I had a hotmail account and about a month ago apple mail deleted all my messages from the hotmail account, therefore I am unable to access any of them from anywhere else except my mac.
I learned that that was due to me leaving the box "remove copy from server after retrieving a message." Now I fixed that and moved to gmail, as I was able to upload all hotmail messages to my gmail account through tuhunderbird.
Since I am not a big fan of Thunderbird as it is giving me some password issues, today I set up the gmail imap (I think) accunt on my apple mail, but there is no box "remove copy from server after retrieving a message" for gmail in prefrences, just for hotmail.
Now I am scared, will apple mail delete all my messages from the gmail server, and if it will, how do I prevent it from doing so?
I deleted my emails and when I went into trash they'd disappeared

Whenever I delete an email using iMail, it doesn't delete from my gmail account when I would just use the regular browser to check my mail. Is there a way to delete emails both off of iMail AND from Gmail so it does not appear when using a browser to check my mail or on another computer?

I want to find my password for my second gmail account which I haven't used for a while, and I'd rather not change the password. (I keep forgetting passwords, and hate resetting them). how to find my password for the first gmail account (Finder>Utilities>Keychain>imap.gmail.com>enter email account name>select 'show password'>enter Mac user password). I was hoping that I could just change the first account name to the second under the imap.gmail.com entry, but when I do this, the password shown continues to be that of the first account, not the second.

I never use "User Accounts" on my MacBook. So I don't know much about them.
If I delete one User Account, will it delete that user's libraries, such as their music, movies, documents, etc?

I am having a problem adding one of my university managed Gmail accounts to Mail 7.3 on my Macbook Pro. I have two that I use regularly, @oakland.edu and @albion.edu, and I was able to sync @oakland.edu with no issues. However, Mail will not recognize the @albion.edu gmail account and gives this message:
I have tried to override and trust the certificate and that didn't work. I also tried adding the incoming/outgoing IMAP servers manually and that didn't work. IMAP is enabled in the @albion.edu acount. It added to Mail on my iPhone 4S with no problems, so I don't know what else to do.

I've added my standard Gmail account to the Mail app on my macbook air 2013 but i also have a school email from Google that I would like to add as well. I had mistakenly moved my gmail to mail.app - mistake was that I completely cleaned-out my entire Gmail account! I fixed Gmail so that it copies the emails as they go to mail.app, leaving it also in Gmail.
Now I want to restore the 3,000 emails I had cleared out of Gmail BACK into Gmail...can I do this?
Can I move them somehow from mail.app back into Gmail with one sweep, just as I had moved them all into mail.app from Gmail? Or am I skrw'd and have to move them individually by forwarding?
I have only been able to receive email from my gmail account on the computer that "Gets" it first. I searched on the web, tried to put the "recent:" prefix in front of my MBP gmail address.However, it is still not working, email only goes to whichever computer downloads it first. I'm new to the Mac world but have been successful in creating a few Automator workflows to simplify certain tasks. However, I'm stuck on the flowing; I'd like to create a workflow that searches a particular folder for items created 30 days before today's date and the delete them. I'm assuming I need to create a variable of today's date and then subtract 30 days from it and so on. Haven't been able to figure this out.
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor the past four days I haven't been receiving any emails from my Gmail account in Mail on my MBP. I am however receiving them on my iPhone 4 and I am getting emails from another account in Mail on my MBP.
On the left-hand side, where the mailboxes are listed, it's permanently displaying the spinning wheel next to Gmail. I am running the latest version of Mail, 4.3, which came with the latest OSX update. I haven't activated the Priority Inbox Google introduced to Gmail.
Just received my refurbished 27" 2.8 quad i7 iMac and I'm psyched! Thing is I can't find the info as to how I make my Mac mail sync up with my Gmail. I can send out mail from Mac mail but I can't receive it. I'm sure it's an EZ process...if ya know how it's done.

When I press 'Get Mail', it begins importing my entire GMAIL inbox (complete with 1000s of emails). Is there any way to stop this?
This is a problem I am having with Thunderbird and Mail. For some reason I just do not get mails ontime
For example, if I get an email from say Youtube, it won't appear in my Mail.app inbox AT ALL. But if I go to Gmail I will see it in there. This happens for about 3/10 emails, so at the moment it's not the majority, but it is certainly annoying
Secondly Thunderbird just doesn't want to connect to my Gmail at all, not too sure why, and I have done step by step instructions, but Thunderbird refuses to get any mail at all. but really and truely I'd rather have the Mail.app working properly
I'm using gmail on the latest version of OS X.New emails keep showing up in my drafts mailbox along with my inbox.
