MacBook :: Managing Dual Monitor With Multiple Desktops

May 29, 2012

After updating to Lion, I set my macbook up with a few different desktops so I could easily swipe between them instead of searching for the windows I needed.I just set up a second monitor to my mac and noticed that anytime I swipe to a different desktop, both monitors change. Is there a way to "freeze" one while the other moves? Or better yet, can I set up my second monitor to only have one desktop while my mac still has 2 or more?

Applications :: Managing Multiple Mail Accounts?

Oct 27, 2009

I need to be able to access several different email accounts at any particular moment in the day. I need to know when new mail comes in, I need to be able to reply from each account separately. Fairly straightforward really eh?

I dont particularly get on with Apple Mail. I find it crashes fairly frequently and really struggles when I am out and about using the mobile dongle.

Intel Mac :: Managing Multiple IOS Devices On Different Apple Accounts From The Same

May 30, 2012

May be a very simple question to answer, but can I manage multiple iOS devices on different Apple accounts from the same iMac?

I ask as whilst I'm totally Mac'd, my partner who has her own Apple account has a Winows laptop and experiences problems updating iOS software on her iPhone 4S and iPad 3 Gen via the laptop. I'm thinking the problems may be overcome if we manage her iOS devices through my iMac.

Mac OS X (10.7.4), iPad 3 Gen, iPhone 4S, iPods.

Intel Mac :: With Lion's Multiple Desktops, Have Different Docks?

May 20, 2012

It's great setting up different Desktops, each with different background photos, to separate my apps/uses and feel like I have three or four 27" screens, one for each category of application. What would make it even better, is if the apps that showed up in the dock matched the Desktop I was in, instead of showing the same whole row of apps across the dock, in every screen. Is it possible to set up different Docks to match different Desktops?

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Assign To All Desktops For Multiple Applications

Jun 20, 2012

Trying to set up a second monitor, which I want to use as my "universal communication dashboard" across all of my spaces. In other words, I want to run a bunch of applications there which should appear regardless of which space I'm on. To do this I know that I just right click the application and select "Assign To: All Desktops" but for whatever reason only one of the applications follows me from screen to screen, even if I have all three selected. All three applications are set to start on login. This seems like a blatant bug in Lion and I would love advice on how to fix it, or how to nag Apple until it gets fixed.

MacBook Pro :: How To Use A Dual Monitor Setup With An HPw22

Apr 13, 2010

Just ordered a 17" MBP and am looking to use a dual monitor setup with an HPw22. I've tried to do some research on my own but am still unsure about what adapter I should go with as this is my first time attempting to run a dual monitor setup. Below are the specs of the monitor for the interfaces with a link to the entire specs.

Interfaces 1 x VGA - 15 pin HD D-Sub (HD-15) , 1 x DVI-D - 24 pin digital DVI

[URL]

I was just wondering what someone who is a bit more knowledgeable about this would recommend getting adapter wise. Can I go with either the Mini DisplayPort to VGA or Mini DisplayPort to DVI since my monitor has both? Is their an advantage to one over the other?

MacBook Pro :: Mid 2014 Dual DVI Monitor Crashing?

Aug 26, 2014

I've got a brand new macbook pro 13inch and recently purchased two of the mini display port adapters to dvi.

Figured I would setup both my external monitors 1920x1080 and have 2 + 1 monitors for working.

Only once was I able to plug both of the monitors in and have them work. Every other time (100s) the laptop crashes.

I'm able to run one external monitor at a time, but not both.

Desktops :: Using Mini DisplayPort To VGA With A Samsung Monitor

Mar 14, 2009

I have the standard 13" aluminum macbook, and I was looking into getting the 'Mini DisplayPort to VGA' adapter to connect my 22" Samsung monitor. On the Apple website, I have seen nothing but horrible reviews about the connection cable, saying that it exclusively does not work with Samsung brand monitors and TV's. On the other hand I only see good things about it connecting to other devices and monitors.

Can anyone shed any light on this? It's already ridiculous that i have to pay the 30$ price for this cable just to use an external monitor, the least I can do is know that it will for sure work.

MacBook Pro :: Connecting Dual Monitors / Usb Monitor Adapters Or DVI Connections

Sep 7, 2009

I have a new 2010 MBP and I'd like to hook up two external monitors to it, more specifically, two ASUS VW246H 24-Inch Widescreen LCD Monitors. Either via HDMI or DVI connections. I've found various usb monitor adapters, but i've read that many can't quite 'keep up' and I really can't seem to find a solid solution out there.
So does anyone have a dual monitor setup they currently use, if so, what are you using to connect the mini display port to both external monitors.

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Split One Monitor Into Two, Differently Configured Desktops

Feb 2, 2012

I have a 27" iMac. I would like to split the screen into two differently configured desktops or monitors. Apps like TwoUp or Divy don't exactly do this. I'll explain it with an example:

Suppose I'm working on a document and I need to open many folders to retrieve files. One common problem is that opened folders overlap each other and sometimes they overlap with the document I'm working on, or they go underneath the document. I would like to split the screen vertically in, say, two virtual, independent desktops/monitors, like this:

- one window/space on one side (say, on the left) of the screen would contain the document  from top to bottom, with no dock bar on the bottom

- the other window/space (right) would behave as a regular, full desktop, with the entire dock on the bottom

In this way, if I need to navigate to find a file to use in the document, I would move the cursor to the right. The Finder would work only in this window/space, thus windows or other applications would never overlap or clutter the left side of the screen. Drag-and-drop from right to left should be possible.

One way to imagine it is as if the 16x9 monitor were comprised by two vertical, 8x9 independent monitors side by side, each with its own configuration.

MacBook Pro :: Set Up Multiple "Desktops" On It?

May 17, 2012

In getting acclimated to the new OS the only thing I struggle with is as a medical sales consultant when I'm working on multiple analysis worksheets and projects I often do a lot of application and file hopping and noticed that gesture wise I can't just toggle like I used to.What I did notice was that I can set up a second "desktop" that when using the 4 finger upstroke would allow me to toggle over and open/view a document or file that is sitting on my desktop..... like a client master file or roster list.

OS X :: Blue Screen With Dual Monitor / MBP Updated From 10.5.2 To 10.5.4

Jul 6, 2008

My MBP was updated from 10.5.2 to 10.5.4 (combined update) this morning and, after the installation finished, it rebooted into a blue screen. I restarted it several times and always went into blue screen.

Now, the interesting part is that this is not the "blue screen after install" problem others are experiencing. If I disconnect the external monitor during restart and wait for OS X to start everything works fine. After OS X starts properly I can even reconnect the external monitor and it works fine. In fact I am writing this post from my MBP using the external monitor right now.

Since some document on the Apple Support website was suggesting to remove the file ApplicationEnhancer.bundle in System/Library/SystemConfiguration when experiencing blue screens after the install of 10.5.4, I did look in that folder for that file but it's not there...
