Intel Mac :: With Lion's Multiple Desktops, Have Different Docks?

May 20, 2012

It's great setting up different Desktops, each with different background photos, to separate my apps/uses and feel like I have three or four 27" screens, one for each category of application. What would make it even better, is if the apps that showed up in the dock matched the Desktop I was in, instead of showing the same whole row of apps across the dock, in every screen. Is it possible to set up different Docks to match different Desktops?

OS X :: Multiple Docks - Use In Multiple Spaces?

Jan 18, 2009

I was thinking that Apple should let us have multiple docks that we use in our multiple spaces. So in one "Space" you could have a "work dock" which has all your applications for school or work such as Safari, iWork/MS Office. Then in another "space" you could have a dock for "Play dock" which has iTunes, Safari, iChat, Photo Booth, iLife or any computer games you have on your Mac.

OS X :: Multiple Monitors And Docks - Space 1 Displayed On First And 2 On Second?

Apr 28, 2009

I've been looking for a solution to have more than just the one Dock: I'd like to have one on each monitor with different applications contained in each. I've discovered Dock Spaces which allows you to have upto 10 different Docks. More importantly, it integrates with Spaces to allow you to have a different Dock in each Space. This is the first time I've had a Mac with two monitors connected, and I've never used Spaces before so please bear with me. Would I be able to have Space 1 displayed on the first monitor and Space 2 on the second monitor? If that's possible, I could then use Dock Spaces to have a Dock on each monitor, yes?

2) There is another Desktop B.

How do I start another Safari window on Desktop B?When I go to Desktop B and start another Safari window, it is opened on the Desktop A. I know I can move it then to Desktop B but that is an extra step.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Assign To All Desktops For Multiple Applications

Jun 20, 2012

Trying to set up a second monitor, which I want to use as my "universal communication dashboard" across all of my spaces. In other words, I want to run a bunch of applications there which should appear regardless of which space I'm on. To do this I know that I just right click the application and select "Assign To: All Desktops" but for whatever reason only one of the applications follows me from screen to screen, even if I have all three selected. All three applications are set to start on login. This seems like a blatant bug in Lion and I would love advice on how to fix it, or how to nag Apple until it gets fixed.

Is there a way to "freeze" one while the other moves? Or better yet, can I set up my second monitor to only have one desktop while my mac still has 2 or more?

MacBook Pro :: Set Up Multiple "Desktops" On It?

May 17, 2012

In getting acclimated to the new OS the only thing I struggle with is as a medical sales consultant when I'm working on multiple analysis worksheets and projects I often do a lot of application and file hopping and noticed that gesture wise I can't just toggle like I used to.What I did notice was that I can set up a second "desktop" that when using the 4 finger upstroke would allow me to toggle over and open/view a document or file that is sitting on my desktop..... like a client master file or roster list.

IMac :: How To Move Windows To The Docks Bar

Dec 14, 2009

Would it be possible to move windows to the "dock bar" when I click on another window? I know it is possible to move it to the docks when we click on the yellow "-" button, but what I want is that it automatically puts itself to the dock when I navigate away from a window. Just like in Windows. Like I want all my windows to be in the docks. It's very annoying having to search for the opened windows.

Desktops :: Intel Imac Will Not Sleep Or Shut Down?

Apr 8, 2010

I have an Intel Imac G5 2.66 gHz 2 core duo running 10.6.3. I am unable to get it shut down or sleep. Choosing either results in the display blacking out, the fans run for about 1 second and then everything come back on as if nothing has happened. I've reset the Pram and Vram, disconnected all USB and Firewire devices, tried it with and without file sharing and Airport operating. A 'hard' shutdown with the power button works fine. I have checked for any firmware updates but mine is fine. This happened once before and clearing out some files from deleted apps cured the problem but it's back now.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Possible To Assign An App To Several Desktops?

May 21, 2012

I'm referring to the desktops you can add in mission control. In the dock, when you click on an app and hold it (or right-click) you can go to options and then assign on which desktop this particular app should open. You can choose on all desktops (which will make the app follow you, no matter to which desktop you are switch), you can choose on the desktop you are now on and you can choose none. But how do you choose several desktops? Is that even possible? Because I don't think so.I am using the Logic arrange window and would like to have the Mixer on a different desktop.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Items Get Stuck Between Desktops?

May 25, 2012

Does anyone else have a problem with items getting 'stuck' between desktops so that you can see them as you move between desktops, but can't access them?

I created an e-mail by dragging a photo to the Mail icon in the dock, but nothing happened so I repeated the exercise. Still nothing happened. I then created the e-mail by copying and pasting the photo into a new blank e-mail and thought nothing more about it. But now, when I swipe between desktops, I can see the two e-mails, complete with photos but no text, straddling two desktops but can't click on them to delete them.
