I have a disfunction on my screen as soon as i turn it on nothing appears and the screen is all black, I tried to restart it several times but it is still the same , nothing happens.

This morning, I synced my iPod with my MacBook and upon completion and permission to disconnect the device, I pulled out the USB cord. At that point the computer instantly turned itself off, and when I hit the power button, I could hear the system trying to start up, but the screen remained black and the sleep light glowed continuously. I unplugged the charger, took out the battery and put it back in, and tried all the troubleshooting tips under the Apple Support guide with no success. I also discovered that when I closed the laptop while it was "on," it would seem to boot up a little more before returning to the black screen. I left it alone for a few hours, and when I tried again to turn it on, it booted up normally and as I was searching for updates, it shut down again as it had earlier.
Does anyone have anything for me to try? I don't want to have to take it into a shop because I can just barely afford to, but I need this computer! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :-)
I was trying to install Windows XP Pro, but for some reason the it wasn't showing another HDD to install Windows on. So I quit the install, and restarted my computer. Now all that happens is the normal grey screen appears (with no Apple logo), then it goes to a black screen and has the blinking cursor (Kinda like DOS).

Machine freezes up if: I run a video (1st, 2nd one), use Safari for a few minutes, use Firefox for 1/2 hour, longer if I only have 1 tab open at a time. Occasionally, I get the black screen of death instead, with the #s running about the screen (white font), out of The Matrix. I've run Disk Utilities - RAM checks out okay, cleared out cache, switched to a new HD (old one had been there since I got the Mac, several years ago), these have alleviated but not eliminated the problem. A tech friend suggested thermal grease on the CPU, or replacing the CPU, but don't know if the latter's possible. Oh, and some part is missing that results in the fan running all of the time, like being on a runway.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an iMac 21inch, Late 2009. I found after it was runing really slow that my hard drive was failing. It told me there were SMART errors on the drive. The computer is out of warranty and I'm in the middle of no where so i have no Mac store to take it to. I bought a new drive, same model, and installed it into the computer. It turns on fine, but after the Apple logo and spinning coge wheel the screen flashes, shows the blue back ground like its going to load the desktop and then goes black.Â
I've tried connecting an external monitor to it and shows up like an extended display. I've tried connecting it to another Mac, a Mini, and the Mini can boot off the iMacs hard drive just fine. If it Target Disk mode the Mini and boot the iMac I get the same flash of blue desktop then it goes black. Â
This is where it gets weird though, I'm sure your thinking, ok the screen is going bad... BUT, I boot off an Ubuntu CD, or the AHT disk and it loads fine and has no turning black. Its only when booting into the Mac OS or the installation disk. Â
One last note is that when its at the black screen and I'm sure its loaded the desktop, if I hold the power button down for about 3-4 seconds, till I hear a click. I then press the button again right away and the screen flashes on showing me the desktop and everything, for about 2 seconds... Â
It started almost 3 days ago. My 2008 macbook screen would suddenly turn black. When watching a YouTube video, the sound still plays but the screen is black. I tried adjusting the brightness, didnt work. I tried pressing the power button but nothing changed. Then when i closed my screen and opened it, the display would return with the (turnoff, sleep etc) question meaning my button computed something.

The starting screen comes out.. but the moment the desktop opens, the screen goes black. And if I try to wake my mac up by pressing any key, the mouse shows for like three seconds(on the black screen, not my desktop). So that means that my mac is not totally off, it's just that the screen is black. But once in a while, when I press any button, my desktop shows for five seconds and the screen turns black again. I had yesterday was that the finder was keep restarting. I was still able to go on all the apps except that I could not open any files on my desktop.

View 11 Replies View RelatediMac 27" i7 with OS X v 10.6.x when I create the bootcamp partition for windows 7 and I install from my original DVD of Windows 7. I format the partition during the install of windows 7 and on the first reboot after windows 7 first part of the install, the screen shows the Windows 7 logo and says continuing installation and then a black screen and then nothing.
I have to hard power off the iMac and then it starts over says the thing about the system didn't shut down properly and gives me the option to start safe mode etc. and does the same thing each time.
I just having problem with starting my Macboook. First, at start screen (gray background with the apple logo) appears pink/red horizontal lines over all the screen. Then, when i'm using my computer, screen goes black for no reason and i need to force restart to turn on the Mac.I can't believe this is happening to a "HIGH QUALITY" expensive computer. My MacBook Pro won't turn on. When I turn it on, I can hear the motor whirring, but the screen stays black. I've tried leaving it off for an extended period, I've tried unplugging the charger, leaving it to charge for 24+ hours, taking the battery out, checked that the screen brightness wasn't accidentally turned down, everything!! It started about 2 weeks ago, since then it's turned on a couple of times, but when I stop using it and it goes into sleep mode, or I turn it off, it won't come back on again. Not sure what's wrong with it, but there's some urgent files I need on that computer! I also have an iMac, which I was hoping to transfer the files to, so I can send the laptop to be looked at. So, I have 2 questions...
1. What is most likely wrong with the laptop, and is it something I can fix so it will turn on again?
2. Is there a way to transfer the files from the laptop to an external HDD or my iMac even though the laptop has a black screen.
After installing windows 7 on my new iMac the system wants to reboot, so i let it. When it does, i press down the option key and choose it to start in Widows, but now the screen turns black, and windows never starts. i dont know what to do.

I have a problem with my MacBook screen. Everytime I try to turn on the MacBook, the blue screen appears for a second and then everything gets dark (but I can see that the computer turned on normally, it's just the screen that gets almost black, without light). A few months ago, I bought a macbook pro and it was doing fine. But recently, every time it starts, a blue screen appears for a split second then it goes to log- in. I purchased a brand spanking new MacBook Pro through the online Apple Store on 27th March and i have been loving it! Today i noticed a rather scary looking "smudge" which appears be an imperfection in the screen. I never noticed this before - only recently! Of course now i know its there its really bugging me! Where do i stand? Ive got a email "invoice" i can print off as proof of purchase but i dont really like the idea of sending my MacBook off to apple! If i book it into the Genuis Bar and take it into my local Apple Store... what are they likely to do considering im outside the 14-day period?
