MacBook Pro :: System Freezes Randomnly For 30 Sec - Gray Screen At Boot Appears
Jan 30, 2010Since a few days ago my Macbook Pro 13" from last June started to freeze randomly for atleast 30 seconds and then it would come back and most of the time freeze again after a while (in OSX only it seems, Windows 7 I did not have such problems, though I didn't use it often). Sometimes it occured frequently, other times it didn't and this morning I had the same thing again, I just held the power button and shut it down, did this two times in a short period of time and when trying to boot it for the second time all I get is a gray screen with no Apple logo or anything.
Searched the forums, tried the install DVD and C button to no avail, same thing with trying to reset the PRAM and NVRAM...Is the logic board broken or anything? I don't understand how this could happen...And if I do take my laptop to Apple, should I remove the Intel SSD drive I got in it right now and put in the stock?

May 14, 2012Had to force quit a number of applications to shut down computer, restarted it but froze on opening. Shut down with the power button and now it won't get past Gray screen with rotating dial (thingy)...tried the safe boot option but this seemed to get stuck after identifying some issues.

Dec 16, 2006So, recently (as of thursday or so) my PBG4 has been making weird buzzing noises, usually only when it was working hard (or watching things online). Eventually, as it got closer to the weekend, the noise started to get louder whenever it would come on, so I'd just turn off my computer for an hour or so and let it cool. Finally, today, I turn it off again and now whenever I turn it back on, all I get is the gray start up screen, sans spinner. Sometimes I even get a little folder with the mac face on it. What's wrong?

Mar 19, 2009I have had my MacBook for almost two years and the battery had just died on me. So I sent it back to Apple and got a new one. But ever since switching over to this new battery, my computer has had issues starting up. A grey screen fades into white and the Apple logo never appears. The computer will just stay like that for hours. A friend suggested turning the power off and back on, holding apple+ctrl+P+R, which worked. However, the next time I turned my computer on, the screen stayed white again, without an Apple logo. Can you tell me what the deal is? Should I bother reporting this to Apple? Is this permanent damage I'm going to have to go thru everytime I start me laptop? Any way to fix it? Thanks.

I started the Apple Hardware Diagnose and it hangs in the middle! the Apple Authorized shop/repair people told me (after the tried to fix it) it is mostly the Logic Board
Can it be the RAM or the CPUs? my mac is out of warranty and the cost to fix it is crazy! so I was thinking I can buy the parts and replace it my self.

The built-in battery in the new 13-, 15-, and 17-inch MacBook Pro is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity at up to 1000 full charge and discharge cycles. So I guess it's a mixed bag...not quite up to the level of the MBPs, but certainly better than the old batteries.

I asked the seller for specs and she said she doesn't know the details except for the model # (which is A1181). I want to make sure it is able to run properly before investing in a screen. I have a 13" macbook. When I was at the apple store today, the employee was able to run diagnostics on my computer with his MBP without having to touch my computer. (Edit: There was a cord running between both computers, and my comp. was running, but everything was being done through his OS). Is there an easy way for me to do the same thing?

Apple said it will retain the "MacBook" moniker for its white $999 MacBook which ships in a polycarbonate enclosure. The new unibody models include a 2.26GHz model for $1199 and a 2.53GHz model for $1499, down from $1299 and $1599.
13-inch MacBook Pros
The new 13-inch MacBook Pro is a significant upgrade at a lower price than the original aluminum MacBook it replaces. With the same unibody design popular with consumers, students and professionals, all 13-inch MacBook Pro models now include a seven hour built-in battery, an SD card slot, a FireWire 800 port, an illuminated keyboard and an improved LED-backlit display with 60 percent greater color gamut.
Also featuring NVIDIA's GeForce 9400M integrated graphics processor, the 13-inch MacBook Pro is available in two models: one with a 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB of RAM and a 160GB hard drive priced at $1,199, and another with a 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB of RAM and a 250GB hard drive priced at $1,499.

MacBook Pro :: Blue Screen Appears On Startup And At Shutdown
Feb 19, 2012A few months ago, I bought a macbook pro and it was doing fine. But recently, every time it starts, a blue screen appears for a split second then it goes to log- in. Then, every time I shutdown, it will also show up for a split second then shutdown. It doesn't affect the computer but I'm just wondering how to stop it.

Apr 24, 2012I purchased a brand spanking new MacBook Pro through the online Apple Store on 27th March and i have been loving it! Today i noticed a rather scary looking "smudge" which appears be an imperfection in the screen. I never noticed this before - only recently! Of course now i know its there its really bugging me! Where do i stand? Ive got a email "invoice" i can print off as proof of purchase but i dont really like the idea of sending my MacBook off to apple! If i book it into the Genuis Bar and take it into my local Apple Store... what are they likely to do considering im outside the 14-day period? Ive got the standard 1 year limited warrantly but not sure if this covers it?
