MacBook Pro :: Running Really Slow And Loading Symbol Over Cursor Appears A Lot
Jun 27, 2014I noticed ever since I downloaded "carbonite" It's been acting like this. It's slow and that little loading symbol over the cursor appears a lot. Could my hard drive
be failing or is it just something like I have too much stuff on my memory? I downloaded carbonite for crap just like this in case my hard drive crashes or something that I don't need. But the program seems like pretty much garbage anyway since it didn't even backup anything important and it seems like it doesn't even have enough storage or memory. It also doesn't even backup external files so it's kinda useless. Especially if this is the reason my Macbook Pro has been running slow.
Well anyway, this is all of the information I have. I'm going to back up everything on a floppy disk or something of that nature ASAP because my lively hood is on this laptop. I need to protect all my files and external files anyway I can. Is Timemachine any good

Mar 23, 2010I am just surfing the Internet and up shows up on the screen a white chain symbol on the screen. It looks almost like a infinity symbol. It shows up for a few seconds then it disappears.
My wife was typing up a document for her University and it showed to her first. This was two days ago. I think this is the first time that this has ever happened to us.
Oh almost forgot. I have a late 2006 Macbook 2,1.
MacBook Pro :: Screen Turns To Static And Get DVI Symbol On Top Left
Jun 23, 2014I bought a brand new Dell U2713H monitor (resolution is 2560px wide) so I had to get a dual link adaptor. I plug it into my Macbook pro 17-inch, Late 2011 and it works beautifully for about 10 minutes and suddenly the screen turns to static and i get a dvi symbol on top left. i then turn off and on the monitor and i get another 10 minutes. I was sure it was a faulty dual link cable - but i am trying the monitor on a macbook air and it is working perfectly.
perhaps the AMD Radeon HD 6770M 1024 MB card is not good enough? but i was told by apple support before i bought the monitor it is fine as long as i use the dual link cable.
PowerPC :: Dialog Box Came Up With Power Symbol - Saying Needed To Restart My Computer
Mar 4, 2009I've been using macs all my life but have never run into this problem. My ibook g4 just recently going crazy on me. I had it running then this dialog box came up with the power symbol in it saying i needed to restart my computer so i did as it said.
After it chimed letting me kno it restarted the gray screen came up and i had the ? folder pop up. So i looked around online and the majority said it was my hard drive. My computer also had a bad battery it wouldn't hold a charge and the ibook itself had to be plugged in at all times. My ac charger pin broke (the part that goes into the computer) so i bought a new one a 45w but just recently finding out i need a 65w! But finally my computer does not turn on at all now. Before i go and buy a new hard drive and battery and charger.

Aug 2, 2010I have a problem with my MacBook screen. Everytime I try to turn on the MacBook, the blue screen appears for a second and then everything gets dark (but I can see that the computer turned on normally, it's just the screen that gets almost black, without light). Sometimes only the right side of the screen is blue and then gets dark just like the left one. I was looking for the problem and I perceived that the left side seems to be loose and I can't fix it. What should I do?

MacBook :: White Start Up Screen With Blinking Documents Folder Symbol With Question Mark
Apr 11, 2012Just came back from the Genius Bar at Apple Amsterdam. Both iTunes and iPhoto had problems launching and libraries were not loading. Ruled out hardware problems so they tried installing OS Snow Leopard over my 10.5.8 in a way to keep my documents safe. All went well until halfway it said it couldn't install succesfully. Made a new appointment for in 3 days from now. They would then overwrite the current OS with the new one so i should go home and make sure to back up all my files in the meantime. Problem is that when i came home and started my laptop i got a blank/white screen with a blinking documents folder symbol with a question mark in it! Does anybody know what it means and will i be able to ever make a back up of my documents?

Power Mac G5 :: 10.4 Desktop Appears But Nothing Else
Dec 20, 2007I went to startup here at work this morning, and only my desktop has appeared. There is what appears to be a search icon in the top right hand corner of the screen and the pointer turns to the color wheel when I move across it. I have seen it do other things, but not this one.

Feb 19, 2012A few months ago, I bought a macbook pro and it was doing fine. But recently, every time it starts, a blue screen appears for a split second then it goes to log- in. Today i noticed a rather scary looking "smudge" which appears be an imperfection in the screen. I never noticed this before - only recently! Of course now i know its there its really bugging me! Where do i stand? Ive got a email "invoice" i can print off as proof of purchase but i dont really like the idea of sending my MacBook off to apple! If i book it into the Genuis Bar and take it into my local Apple Store... what are they likely to do considering im outside the 14-day period? Ive got the standard 1 year limited warrantly but not sure if this covers it?

Mar 17, 2009I was trying to install Windows XP Pro, but for some reason the it wasn't showing another HDD to install Windows on. So I quit the install, and restarted my computer. MacBook Pro :: System Freezes Randomnly For 30 Sec - Gray Screen At Boot Appears
Jan 30, 2010Since a few days ago my Macbook Pro 13" from last June started to freeze randomly for atleast 30 seconds and then it would come back and most of the time freeze again after a while (in OSX only it seems, Windows 7 I did not have such problems, though I didn't use it often). Sometimes it occured frequently, other times it didn't and this morning I had the same thing again, I just held the power button and shut it down, did this two times in a short period of time and when trying to boot it for the second time all I get is a gray screen with no Apple logo or anything.
Searched the forums, tried the install DVD and C button to no avail, same thing with trying to reset the PRAM and NVRAM...Is the logic board broken or anything? I don't understand how this could happen...And if I do take my laptop to Apple, should I remove the Intel SSD drive I got in it right now and put in the stock?
MacBook Pro :: Appears To Turn On But Sleep Light Remains On And No Start Up Screen?
Jul 18, 2010This morning, I synced my iPod with my MacBook and upon completion and permission to disconnect the device, I pulled out the USB cord. At that point the computer instantly turned itself off, and when I hit the power button, I could hear the system trying to start up, but the screen remained black and the sleep light glowed continuously. I unplugged the charger, took out the battery and put it back in, and tried all the troubleshooting tips under the Apple Support guide with no success. I also discovered that when I closed the laptop while it was "on," it would seem to boot up a little more before returning to the black screen. I left it alone for a few hours, and when I tried again to turn it on, it booted up normally and as I was searching for updates, it shut down again as it had earlier.
Does anyone have anything for me to try? I don't want to have to take it into a shop because I can just barely afford to, but I need this computer! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :-)

Sep 7, 2014Everytime I open a page, an advertisement for Mackeeper appears on my screen. I also get a lot of other advertising (cinechest for example).
Besides that my computer underlined random words. When I click it, I get another ad on my screen again.
It seems like a virus or something like that, and it is very disturbing.

MacBook :: Unable To Complete Boot - White Screen With Flashing Folder Appears
Sep 13, 2010I woke up to my MacBook fan going nuts. Had an error message on the screen that said something about a disk error. The machine wouldn't do anything (force quit, launch app) so I hard powered down. Now.....NOTHING. All I get is the white screen, followed by the flashing folder. Here is what I have tried so far.
I already booted from the restore cd that came with it and opened disk utility. The hard drive shows up as something like disk1 but not "Macintosh HD."Tried to repair permissions and got an error message. Thought then to do an archive and install......and the HDD isn't even a viable option to install the OS on.
I had the original (but smaller) HDD that came with my MacBook, so I put it back in and everything booted up just fine and is back up and running. (Thank God for MobleMe that had all my contacts, etc on it). But I still have some info on that other HDD that I need. I ordered a usb enclosure for the drive to maybe try some recovery, but it seems to me that the HDD failed or something. Is there anything else I can do?
