MacBook Air :: Thin Stripe Of Bleeding On Top And Kind Of Two Blobs On The Bottom Corners?
Mar 4, 2009
All the screens I have seen have at least a stripe of bleeding on top and some screens have more bleeding on the bottom in addition to that!I just opened my machine today with week5 production and it has a very thin (thinner than others) stripe of bleeding on top and kind of two blobs on the bottom corners. As for the lines (for the curious ones) they are there but this is the best screen I have ever seen since it is way harder to notice them compared to the rest. It is a model 9C90.
Would I return it you might ask, well, I am kind of sick of waiting more for a MBA since this is my second machine since the release of revB so I am kind of 50-50 now on keeping it.BTW, I bought this from Amazon so I was wondering if any of your returned a MBA due to the lines/bleeding issue and got a full refund from them.

Recently, the display of my MacBook Pro (unfortunately, out of warranty) often is black/greyish after wake-up/start-up with a thin white stripe in the middle of the screen, and the computer (obviously) cannot be used in this mode (you can hear it start up, but since the screen is completely dark, I can't actually do anything - restarting doesn't help either).
At first I thought it might be the graphic card (since there is a known problem with NVIDIA), but I've brought it in for repair where they have run multiple software-tests, and no error code was returned (when I brought it in it magically "fixed itself" and, once running, the problem can't be re-recreated), so nothing was fixed.
It seems to me that the MacBook for some reason cannot find or communicate with the display because I just discovered that if I hook up an external monitor, it manages to find that, and, after disconnecting the external monitor again, also "reconnects" to its own display. It then generally runs fine until I physically move it (ie. put it in my backpack and carry it somewhere) - after being moved, it tends to have the same problem again (not always, but more and more often).
Have you had any similar experience and/or what might cause this and how it could be fixed? I'd like to avoid replacing the display or something of the sort until I know for sure what's going on.

I did a search and could only find information about the last rendition of mbps, and I see they had problems with bleeding along the bottom part of the screen. I just got my umbp a week ago, but I've been so busy finding a place to live for grad school that I haven't had the chance to use it. I looked at it in the dark yesterday, and I'm super anal. I saw a small amount of backlight bleeding on the bottom left corner of the screen, perhaps half an inch on the left side of the screen, just in one area (not along the entire left side).I wish I could take a picture, but my digital camera is nowhere to be found. Is a small amount of backlight bleeding acceptable, or should I exchange for a new umbp?

Just received the new 13" macbook air yesterday and today have noticed some very thin horizontal banding lines across the bottom portion of the screen.
Has anyone else noticed this, or check to see if your one has this problem.
It is quite subtle but it makes the icons on the dock look as if they have a card like effect through them.
Easiest to check if you make your screen wallpaper the dark grey colour.
On this the top part of the screen seems consistent, but at the bottom part there is very thin white horizontal lines. I tried updating the software, but it seems to be the same - looks like a faulty display may have to send back, wondering if it could be fixed with a software update.
The strange thing is black and dark colours do not produce the effect it only shows up on greys or medium contrast colours like blue.

my firends eMAC leaked some "paste" like fluid (came home to it that way) which removed the finish from the desk it was sitting on. Now both bottom corners of the monitor are discoloured (purple and green i believe, left and right respectivley).... is the fluid harmful...ie: is it mercury? or is it simply the coolant? is the coolant harmful? He said there was a few ounces of the stuff under the machine on the desk. Just curious of hazards etc, and if its a sign of a new machine in his future?

So, my late 2008 aluminum Macbook has been giving me some issues. At first, the display basically conked out on me so I had to get that replaced. Then about a week after it got replaced, it looked like some sort of liquid had oozed out of the display. It was basically between the LCD screen and the glass display. I pressed on it a couple times with my thumb and it went away. Then yesterday, the liquid came back. Then late last night, this vertical line of static came up and it wont go away.
Here is a picture of the liquid stuff. It's not great because I can only see it when the screen is off because the vertical stripe is on top of the liquid stuff. Its kinda hard to see, but it looks like oil on the inside of the screen.

I just bought a new unibody Macbook (YAY), but when i play full screen movies, at the bottom of the screen you can see the light shooting up. Is that worthy of a replacement? Or is that normal on a LED screen? I just purchased it yesterday, so I can just go exchange it if its neccessary.

I've had my new 13" MBP for about a month now and I am noticing what looks like backlight bleeding spots at the bottom of my screen. It is most noticeable on the bottom left and appear blue-ish on a black screen at maximum brightness. It is getting irritating when I am watching movies at night. I have the 9CBD screen. Others have said they have no problems with this screen model. So is this normal or is it a defect? If it is a defect, what can I do to fix this? My 14 day grace period is over, so I'm assuming an easy exchange at the Apple Store is out of the question?

I just got a new 1.6 MBA but it is going back tomorrow. It has screen bleeding showing like mountains on the bottom and top of the screen. In addition, it is HOT (CPU 63-83 C). Way hotter than what I tested at the store (CPU 40-60 C). In addition, it has a tiny flicked (ripped) paint at the back which I am somehow ok with. I just wanted to share this with you and know if any of you facing similar issues? I have never ever seen screen bleeding in MBAs before since the MBA has the "best" screen ever. I hope that I'll get a better replacement.

My Macbook Pro 13 inch's lid is misaligned. I have had it less than a week and could return it. I am trying to figure out how normal this is. Other than that and some other small cosmetic effects the laptop is fine. In one of the corners (hinge side) the lid sticks out maybe 1 -1.5 milimeter and this misalignment carries over to the rest of the laptop as well. So on one side the lid is initially not covering the whole laptop then it sticks out over the laptop etc.

I have looked at a couple of screen protectors for the macbook pro, & wondered if the piece of thin foam that comes with a new macbook pro that fits between the keyboard & screen? could this be used as a screen protector? or would a bought screen protector made by another company be better?

my macbook pro screen has two thin green lines running down the screen from top to bottom. i have run the apple hardware test and it has detected an error. unfortunately i am in a remote village for the next two months and unable to get my macbook to a repair centre. What the thin green lines indicate?, whether the error on the hard drive and the green lines are connected or something different? the lap top seems to be working fine however im concerned that as i cant get to a repair place for the next 2 months whether continued use will damage the computer further?

I have a late 2011/early2012 MBP running OSX 10.7.3 (build 11D50d) and All of a sudden my trackpad is playing up. I can move the cursor from all places of the trackpad apart from the bottom corners - but I can only click in the center of the pad. However I can touch click in most places (apart from bottom corners). Does anybody know how to fix this?
I've only had my MacBook Pro for 4 weeks now, I've not dropped it, knocked it or spilt anything on it, so this is pretty disappointing to say the least. I've seen a bunch of videos on youtube where people are taking their MBP apart and tightening a screw to fix the problem. My warranty is still valid and I have AppleCare so I don't want to be voiding either of those by taking it a apart and messing about inside.

I shudder to think that we might be getting a bargain from apple, is that possible, or is this ssd: SuperTalent 60GB SSD (Microsata II, 1.8'')
FUD60GK18H
Which costs around 900 euros mind you not dollars, with less than half the capacity, is so much better in terms of performance than the one in the air? Also what's with the specification of a 1.8 ssd drive, are they produced in the same volumes as 2.5" ones? Are they aimed at air type products, i.e. thin and light but come at a premium price?

I just bought a Macbook Pro 15" i7; the only problem I've had with it is this: every now and then my Expose/Space/Screen Corners stop working, and the only solution I can find is to just restart my computer (which thanks to the i7 is only about 20 seconds anyway ). Does anyone here have any advice on this?

I've got an 27" i7 which has got a significan amount of light bleedthrough from the LED backlight in the upper right side of the screen, about 5 inches from the far right. I don't have access to the display currently, but will take a photo when I get home.
It's not an annoyance when the screen is displaying bright colours, but when the screen is supposed to be black, the amount of bleed is quite visible (this is bleed down into the screen, not through the joins/seams of the unit).
Very much similar to the examples shown in this thread:
[URL]
Specifically like [URL] except for being on the top right side of the display.
Does anyone else have these issues? I realise that it is impossible to get it perfect, but this could turn into an annoyance for me, and just want to know if anyone else has a similar issue.
I also dont' want to run against Murphy if I have to send it back, as the one I have isn't suffering from anything else...
