I have looked at a couple of screen protectors for the macbook pro, & wondered if the piece of thin foam that comes with a new macbook pro that fits between the keyboard & screen? could this be used as a screen protector? or would a bought screen protector made by another company be better?

View 4 Replies View Relatedthere are two things that the macbook is doing to me. one is that sometimes when i move the screen up or down (the hinge is rather stiff) a white (thin) line flashes across the screen. but recently, while randomly browsing through the internet, the screen almost... i guess faded to a gray screen, but like gradually, and not like a kernel error, like the display just faded away. happened twice in a row, did a battery pull and now wont do it again.

my macbook pro screen has two thin green lines running down the screen from top to bottom. i have run the apple hardware test and it has detected an error. unfortunately i am in a remote village for the next two months and unable to get my macbook to a repair centre. What the thin green lines indicate?, whether the error on the hard drive and the green lines are connected or something different? the lap top seems to be working fine however im concerned that as i cant get to a repair place for the next 2 months whether continued use will damage the computer further?

Has anyone else noticed this, or check to see if your one has this problem.
It is quite subtle but it makes the icons on the dock look as if they have a card like effect through them.
Easiest to check if you make your screen wallpaper the dark grey colour.
On this the top part of the screen seems consistent, but at the bottom part there is very thin white horizontal lines. I tried updating the software, but it seems to be the same - looks like a faulty display may have to send back,wondering if it could be fixed with a software update.
The strange thing is black and dark colours do not produce the effect it only shows up on greys or medium contrast colours like blue.
A thin blue line just appeared on my iMac screen and will not go away.

I just bought & wasted $20+ on the Photodon anti-glare protector for my 13" MBP. The speckling/rainbow effect on white pages just killed it for me even though the anti-glare was nice and the protector was well made. I've read that due to the extra glass panel between the display and the protector, it's hard to get a decent ant-glare shield.
The Moshi iVisor AG doesn't actually adhere to the glass and I may give it a shot next. Anyone have one? If so, how does it work? In theory, it should work better than the Photodon but would really like to hear from someone before I drop another $40 and wait with bated breath for the USPS guy again only to be let down.
I just bought my first macbook pro (15-inch) and want to keep it in good shape. Any suggestions on shells, cases, or stick on protectors that are good for use on this computer? I have seen the ones that apple sells such as the speck products, and there are also ones like invisiShield from Zagg.

Which costs around 900 euros mind you not dollars, with less than half the capacity, is so much better in terms of performance than the one in the air? Also what's with the specification of a 1.8 ssd drive, are they produced in the same volumes as 2.5" ones? Are they aimed at air type products, i.e. thin and light but come at a premium price?
All the screens I have seen have at least a stripe of bleeding on top and some screens have more bleeding on the bottom in addition to that!I just opened my machine today with week5 production and it has a very thin (thinner than others) stripe of bleeding on top and kind of two blobs on the bottom corners.As for the lines (for the curious ones) they are there but this is the best screen I have ever seen since it is way harder to notice them compared to the rest. It is a model 9C90.
Would I return it you might ask, well, I am kind of sick of waiting more for a MBA since this is my second machine since the release of revB so I am kind of 50-50 now on keeping it.BTW, I bought this from Amazon so I was wondering if any of your returned a MBA due to the lines/bleeding issue and got a full refund from them.
My MBP is attached to a couple of FW 800 harddisks. The connection works reliable and fast but the (3m) Firewire 800 9/9 cable is as thick as my thumb, which is rather annoying. I know that FW 800 requires nine wires and a good amount of shielding but maybe one of you guys has a recommendation for a relatively thin or flexible cable (required length: 3m).
View 6 Replies View RelatedI bought a imac 21.5" less than a year ago and I just sent it in to get fixed because of black clouding underneath the LCD panel anyways after sending it away for over a month (and they gave me a piece of crap pc laptop for a loaner) i get it back it's good as new, 2 weeks later (today) now this pink line is stuck across my screen so i;ve been reading some threads and this problem doesn't go away anyway i'm getting pissed off with this i'm about to buy another one so I always have one thats not in the shop (ridiculous) or a pc, i really like my imac but this sucks,, what should I do?

View 2 Replies View RelatedRecently, the display of my MacBook Pro (unfortunately, out of warranty) often is black/greyish after wake-up/start-up with a thin white stripe in the middle of the screen, and the computer (obviously) cannot be used in this mode (you can hear it start up, but since the screen is completely dark, I can't actually do anything - restarting doesn't help either).
At first I thought it might be the graphic card (since there is a known problem with NVIDIA), but I've brought it in for repair where they have run multiple software-tests, and no error code was returned (when I brought it in it magically "fixed itself" and, once running, the problem can't be re-recreated), so nothing was fixed.
It seems to me that the MacBook for some reason cannot find or communicate with the display because I just discovered that if I hook up an external monitor, it manages to find that, and, after disconnecting the external monitor again, also "reconnects" to its own display. It then generally runs fine until I physically move it (ie. put it in my backpack and carry it somewhere) - after being moved, it tends to have the same problem again (not always, but more and more often).
Have you had any similar experience and/or what might cause this and how it could be fixed? I'd like to avoid replacing the display or something of the sort until I know for sure what's going on.
I have a MDD quicksilver with a bad power supply. I have done some research and have found that the MDD psu does fail more than most. One of the biggest problem is cost. As most of you know replacements run $125 and up What I would like to know is has any one found out what actually goes wrong in these psu's? With the amount that have failed I would guess it is a few components that are commonly going bad on each unit. If I cant figure out whats wrong with the unit, maybe a replacement? I have seen the standard atx power supply mod for the mdd but I was thinking something along the lines of the same form factor as the factory psu. the guts could fit in the factory psu enclosure with rewired new 24pin plug. Again I am just throwing this out there maybe some one all ready did this.

My Macbook Pro is fairly new, and the hinge on both side is already making squeaking noise when I open my screen. It gets a bit annoying, I open it from the center top of the screen, not by the side. Is this a problem that I should be taking to the Apple Store? Or this can be fixed easily?

I have 3 problems with my aluminum macbook and I think that they are all related and are caused by each other.1) The hinge creeks sometimes when I slowly close the screen and I'm afraid it will only get worse as this just started happening.) When the macbook is closed, the screen is uneven. The right side does not completely close and there is a gap between the base of the computer and the screen. However, the left side is just fine unless I push down on the right side then the left side just goes up and becomes uneven.

My problem is that when I want a program (or more specifically in this case a game) to go into fullscreen mode it automatically goes to my primary monitor and turns the other screen black. I know I can switch the primary monitor from my actual laptop screen to the TV however I just want the game to be full screen on the TV while still having access to my dock and everything on my laptop.

It never really bothered me until I realized I needed the multi-tasking. Is there anyway to keep functionality on either screen when the other is in fullscreen mode?
