Anyone know if I can go to the AppleStore to fix this? I've had this Penryn since March. Also any idea how long?
I think I have to give a brief history of my Mac life first. I previously owned the last generation iBook, then a MacBook (entry-level) 3rd gen before I upgraded to Penryn MBP this April.
I bought the MBP because I fell in love with the keyboard when I got to try the display unit in one of the Apple resellers here (I am from Manila, btw) so I sold my MacBook then upgraded to the Penryn MBP (entrylevel - 2.4ghz, 15inch).
I just bought a new unibody Macbook (YAY), but when i play full screen movies, at the bottom of the screen you can see the light shooting up. Is that worthy of a replacement? Or is that normal on a LED screen? I just purchased it yesterday, so I can just go exchange it if its neccessary.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've had my new 13" MBP for about a month now and I am noticing what looks like backlight bleeding spots at the bottom of my screen. It is most noticeable on the bottom left and appear blue-ish on a black screen at maximum brightness. It is getting irritating when I am watching movies at night. I have the 9CBD screen. Others have said they have no problems with this screen model. So is this normal or is it a defect? If it is a defect, what can I do to fix this? My 14 day grace period is over, so I'm assuming an easy exchange at the Apple Store is out of the question?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI did a search and could only find information about the last rendition of mbps, and I see they had problems with bleeding along the bottom part of the screen. I just got my umbp a week ago, but I've been so busy finding a place to live for grad school that I haven't had the chance to use it. I looked at it in the dark yesterday, and I'm super anal. I saw a small amount of backlight bleeding on the bottom left corner of the screen, perhaps half an inch on the left side of the screen, just in one area (not along the entire left side).I wish I could take a picture, but my digital camera is nowhere to be found. Is a small amount of backlight bleeding acceptable, or should I exchange for a new umbp?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just got a new 1.6 MBA but it is going back tomorrow. It has screen bleeding showing like mountains on the bottom and top of the screen. In addition, it is HOT (CPU 63-83 C). Way hotter than what I tested at the store (CPU 40-60 C). In addition, it has a tiny flicked (ripped) paint at the back which I am somehow ok with. I just wanted to share this with you and know if any of you facing similar issues? I have never ever seen screen bleeding in MBAs before since the MBA has the "best" screen ever. I hope that I'll get a better replacement.
View 24 Replies View RelatedI have an eyelash-sized dark streak on the center, bottom (dock area) of my Powerbook G4 15". At first, I thought it was dirt, or another external blemish, but if I move the cursor over it, it obstructs the view of the blemish (instead of appearing beneath it.) Also, I have a small, almost white, faded dot which appears to grow and expand larger if the Powerbook is running for longer than 4-6 hours. What is frustrating is that neither show up under screen captures. Is my monitor full of external stains and blemishes which I cannot remove, or is there something actually wrong with my display?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI cracked my laptop screen and along some of the crack lines there is a blue, magic marker looking bleeding going on. It has been getting progressively worse. The menu bar on top is fully covered in blue. The blue coloring migrates. My question is, will this destroy the inners of the computer in any way? I am trying to wait for the updated MacBook Pros, but don't want to wait if I am risking frying all my info. I can still use the computer, I just have to move screens around so I can read around the blue blood.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have not seen any posts comparing these two symptoms together, but I am wonding if both exist on the same screens, or if they are infact seperate issues. I returned a 27" iMac i7 because it had both slight yellowing and terrible backlight bleeding. I have seen multiple machines first hand (3 Core 2 Duos week 41s) at different stores (Apple and Best Buy) that had no yellowing and no backlight bleeding. I won't get into how to check for yellowing, you can read about that issue here: [URL]
But to check for backlight bleeding is both easy and impossible not to see if you have it. To check for backlight bleeding, a quick way is to bring up a site like http://www.blackle.com/ or any other black background, and check for an inconsistent white glow on the edges of your screen. I had serious backlight bleeding in the lower corners of my screen, which happens to be where the yellowing was happening. I don't know if they are related, but hopefully we can determine if there is any correlation here.
I did order a second machine, because I know Apple knows how to make a 27" iMac with a perfect screen (as advertised), since I have seen 3 of them in the wild. Hopefully they will be back to the quality that they had is their early production units very soon.
I just purchased a 2008 15" MBP from the refurb store and would like to know whether it's possible to install a ssd?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI originally purchased a SR MBP a couple weeks ago and come to find out, the LCD was bad and Apple declared it DOA. I went to the Apple store and swapped it out for a new 2.4GHz Penryn MBP. I am running Vista via bootcamp and am noticing a high pitched whine coming from the top left hand side of the keyboard, near the LCD. Puzzled as to the cause, I started playing with some controls to see if anything made a difference and noticed that when I dim the LCD to the min, it almost goes away. When I turn off the LCD it does in fact go away and when I increase it to maximum brightness it also vanishes. The noise seems to be the loudest when the LCD brightness is set in the middle. This problem only occurs in Vista, not OSX. I thoroughly toyed with the brightness in OSX and listed carefully, but like I said, not noise is present.
Should I be concerned and call Apple, or just ride it out? It does bother me a bit considering I use Vista for Office 2007 tasks. However, since the problem only occurs in Vista and not OSX, it this indicative of a software issue, or do you guys think it is hardware related? cmm26red
Wouldn't that have been more impressive than that razor blade thing they're calling the MacBook Air?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI bought 160GB X25G2 only to realize (later) that my MBP17 SATA is indeed limited to 1.5Gb so it made me think - shouln'd I utilize this Intel in my i7 iMac and get some cheaper slower SSD for my MBP? If so which one?
Or is the read speed only half of benefits of SSD and the access time and write management being the other part? (I read about some issues with jmicron controllers etc.)
I take a T7200 board and put it in a penryn T8300 machine? I know little things like the battery connector and the inverter board connector change from removing so many of these boards, but I never kept good documentation of the connector types between the different boards.
I am totally fine with this not being the same specs as it was before, it will still be a nice machine, but I don't feel like spending $500 on a logic board for it.
Alu 24" 2.4ghz when they first came out with aluminum, got it at the store. since august 07 My imac had a small yellow tint, i noticed, when i got it and it was not worth anyhting screaming about, i also noticed it had bleeding issues ath the bottom and sides. I wanted to return it or trade but i was convinced out of it.
Now i noticed that from left to right their is a prominent yellow tint streaking it's way across and fading around the half way point. It is irritating and sad to see this display on this mac was ok, at first but it is geting slightly worse.I have apple care, can i trade this/replace it at an applestore, or would they need to fix it?
I have a White MacBook (13-inch Early 2008 model A1181) Penryn 2.4Ghz. The current logic board in there is Apple part# 820-2279-A. Is a late 2007 Santa Rosa 2.2Ghz board (with the same part number 820-2279-A) a direct swap for the Penryn board?
View 2 Replies View RelatedAll the screens I have seen have at least a stripe of bleeding on top and some screens have more bleeding on the bottom in addition to that!I just opened my machine today with week5 production and it has a very thin (thinner than others) stripe of bleeding on top and kind of two blobs on the bottom corners. As for the lines (for the curious ones) they are there but this is the best screen I have ever seen since it is way harder to notice them compared to the rest. It is a model 9C90.
Would I return it you might ask, well, I am kind of sick of waiting more for a MBA since this is my second machine since the release of revB so I am kind of 50-50 now on keeping it.BTW, I bought this from Amazon so I was wondering if any of your returned a MBA due to the lines/bleeding issue and got a full refund from them.
How can I tell what my MBP is? 2007 2.4 model.
Am I right in thinking Penryn is a newer better motherboard?
so I'm thinking of upgrading to 4GB RAM for my Penryn MBP....and I'm wondering if i can swap my current two 1GB sticks in a 1.25GHz Powerbook G4 that my friend has? I double-checked and found out that the Powerbook G4 could take in 2GB of RAM max.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've got an 27" i7 which has got a significan amount of light bleedthrough from the LED backlight in the upper right side of the screen, about 5 inches from the far right. I don't have access to the display currently, but will take a photo when I get home.
It's not an annoyance when the screen is displaying bright colours, but when the screen is supposed to be black, the amount of bleed is quite visible (this is bleed down into the screen, not through the joins/seams of the unit).
Very much similar to the examples shown in this thread:

Specifically like [URL] except for being on the top right side of the display.
Does anyone else have these issues? I realise that it is impossible to get it perfect, but this could turn into an annoyance for me, and just want to know if anyone else has a similar issue.
I also dont' want to run against Murphy if I have to send it back, as the one I have isn't suffering from anything else...
So I got my 24" Cinema Display 2 weeks ago and just noticed this backlight bleeding on the bottom right and its really pissing me off when I watch movies or use frontrow.Does anyone know the best way to go about with an exchange or something?
View 9 Replies View RelatedHow common is this? I prefer darker backgrounds and this may be an issue.I'm over the yellow and the buzzing, but this too? Don't take me the wrong way - I love my Macs but I can't say I'm crazy about this..See attachment. Ignore the image noise, the big spot that bothers me is on the top to the right.
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy Macbook Pro is fairly new, and the hinge on both side is already making squeaking noise when I open my screen. It gets a bit annoying, I open it from the center top of the screen, not by the side. Is this a problem that I should be taking to the Apple Store? Or this can be fixed easily?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI tried to use some software to test the display. I found when the screen goes to completely dark with the backlight on, the bottom side of my screen is brighter than other parts.... have u guys met any problem like that, or is this some problem with my MBA?
I have 3 problems with my aluminum macbook and I think that they are all related and are caused by each other.1) The hinge creeks sometimes when I slowly close the screen and I'm afraid it will only get worse as this just started happening.) When the macbook is closed, the screen is uneven. The right side does not completely close and there is a gap between the base of the computer and the screen. However, the left side is just fine unless I push down on the right side then the left side just goes up and becomes uneven.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I have a DYNEX 21 inch HD TV conected up to my MBP via the VGA connection route. My problem is that when I want a program (or more specifically in this case a game) to go into fullscreen mode it automatically goes to my primary monitor and turns the other screen black. I know I can switch the primary monitor from my actual laptop screen to the TV however I just want the game to be full screen on the TV while still having access to my dock and everything on my laptop.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a 15" MacBook Pro with a 20" ACD. Whenever I full screen view something, like say with VLC or even a web browser video, I lose functionality on the other screen. It never really bothered me until I realized I needed the multi-tasking. Is there anyway to keep functionality on either screen when the other is in fullscreen mode?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with my screen - when there is something black on, I can see a faint mark of a lighter colour. I have tried to take a picture, please excuse the poor quality. There is nothing visible when the screen is off, even under close examination. Is it less visible when lighter things are on the screen, and invisible when the screen is white.
No drops or liquid spills. Will this go away on it's own? Any fixes?
I recently upgraded to a Macbook Pro 15" with a mini displayport, and I decided I would share my LCD monitor with my windows box. The desktop box is connected with DVI and I have connected my Macbook through an HDMI adaptor from Moshi. Everything works very well, and I'm pleased with the quality of the output, but I'm having trouble with a screen flicker in full screen games.
When I select full 1080p (1900x1080) in any full screen game, the screen "shudders." It does not occur on the OS X desktop, and I can only explain it as a shudder. Lines and text shift perceptively left and right, and the game is unplayable. I have experienced this problem in Starcraft 2, World of Warcraft, and Half Life: Episode 2 so far.
Could the problem be with my monitor and the way it handles an HDMI signal? The Macbook is flawless otherwise, with no other issues of any kind. The "shudder" only occurs during full screen games set to 1900x1080. Lower resolutions are not effected and work fine...
I'm stumped.
Edit: I should add that I have no other 1080p capable devices to test the output with.
I've got my MacBook attached to my 40" Sony Bravia HDTV (KDL40W4500), and when I mirror the display or use the HDTV as the primary screen it cuts off portions of the screen like the main toolbar on top, as well as some of the dock. I tried to change the Screen Format on my TV but that doesn't seem to work, does anyone know how to fix this?
