View 3 RepliesI was wondering if anyone knows if the sims 3 will work on the first release of the macbook air? I have the 1.6 80gb version.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm reloading my computer to clean it up. I also got a lot of good apps on my comp that I want to preserve. After downloading apps, I delete the installation files to preserve memory. After putting my apps on a USB drive, will they work on my reloaded MAC without the installation? Some apps have been payed for and registered also, will they now work?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have the new MBP. I'm running OS 10.5.6 2.53 ghz intro core 2 duo 4 gigs of ram. I have enough to run it. I had issues installing it. It told me I needed 1 mb to run it. so I drug the folder into the mac HD. When the base game works perfectly. I have all the expansion games. Which works on my IMac running the same thing & my old MBP. When I install the first expansion pack & launch it the error reads. The application the sims 2 quit unexpectedly & it says the same thing when I want to relaunch.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to reinstall Leopard on my MacBook Pro 15" 2ghz 667mhz but I don't have the discs for this model and I am using discs from a early 2008 MacBook pro 17" 2.6ghz 800mhz but it they don't work. I loaded the discs with the C button pressed and a pop up window says that they will not work on this hardware.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI went to do a system update which froze on "Configuring The Install" (or something similar). So I gave my quad Mac Pro a cold reboo and I get a prohibited sign, or whatever. (You know, the ghostbusters symbol without the ghost.) I know, I deserve that though, shame on me for turning it off during a system update. I waited a LONG time. I don't think that's the root problem though. Anyway, I boot up via the system CD, load up Disk Utility, which (takes forever) and after trying to Verify, I get an "Invalid B-Node Size" error. I try to click "OK" but Disk Utility continues to be unresponsive for a long time. I wait it out, reboot back into Windows and here I am.
The hard drive is super old. Like probably 7 years. It's a Maxtor 6Y120, 114 gig SATA drive. So I think it's probably just failing. Disk Utility couldn't unmount it or verify it. So what I want to do is just reinstall Leopard, but I have a LOT of work stuff on my Windows drive. (A separate physical SATA drive, not a partition.) Obviously I will back it all up, but I would definitely like to avoid reinstalling Windows, all my apps, and restoring my work files.
So I have a couple of questions - 1) Will re-installing Leopard "orphan" my Windows bootcamp drive, so I can no longer boot into it? I would want to erase my Mac HD or possibly buy a new one to replace it. Which brings me to my 2nd question - 2) If I buy a completely new hard drive and install Leopard there, will my bootcamp partition still be bootable/intact? Or will they hate eachother?
So I just installed the new 200GB OWC Mercury Extreme SSD (SandForce Chip) in my 2008 Penryn (non-Uni) MacBook-Pro.
Seems pretty fast and all, but iStat is displaying a temperature of 263 degrees?#!#$%@@#
I know this thing can't be operating at 263 degrees, though I placed the temp monitor at the exact same location it resided on my prior 5400 RPM hard drive. Not sure what the problem could be.
I am thinking of sending in my Mac Mini to OWC because I'm not good with the insides of computers. I am wondering how the Service works. So am I suppose to add the Service, the RAM, and the Hard Drive to my basket and it knows what to do? When I get the box, do I go to a local FedEx facility to send it back? Is there anything else I need to know? I need advice from people who have sent in there Macs to OWC. Sorry if I sound like a noob, I am new to Macs and just wondering how the service works.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded my OS with the free installation for Yosemite. When trying installing Yosemite my Macbook Pro running Mavericks asked me for the user password, which I provided.Yosemite installed fine, no problems.Â
Now, however, I am needing to install some software on my Macbook Pro after installing Yosemite. Like before, it asked me for my password, but this time it came back as incorrect. I tried several more times and it's still registering as incorrect.
I followed the directions shown here: OS X Yosemite: Reset a login passwordÂ
However, I can't follow the instructions past step 4:
4. Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Users & Groups.
5. Log in to your account....
When I click on Users & Groups, I don't see anything that allows me to log in to my account (I'm assuming it's because I'm already logged into it?). I only see options to Change the Password, open the Contacts Card, Login Options, and change Parental Controls. When I select "Change the Password", it asks me to enter the old password, which I can't do for obvious reasons.
So what can I do to recover my existing password?

After I installed maverick on my imac, my time machine backups don't work anymore!!!! I have a normal portable HDD attached to my Imac with time capsule backup from before mavericks was installed.I also has a Buffalo NAS as a second Time Machine Backup. Â
Time capsule does not recognise my Buffalo NAS and tells me that it is not available. It has previous backups from Mountain Lion for sure!My portable HDD keeps saying "Preparing for backup" for eternity. I can connect to my portable HDD and Buffalo NAS as a drive.  What I have been doing is to copy and paste the important stuff into the drives. But it really defeats the purpose of time machine.
After installing 4GB of RAM on my unibody macbook pro, I get a kernel panic error. Am I right that the problem is about CPU? Is that mean that it is dying or broken?

View 13 Replies View RelatedI'm in possession of a mac pro 2x 2.8ghz intel quad core running leopard. I have a main hardrive and a secondary harddrive. I was attempting to reformat the first hd and reinstall leopard. I pop in the cd as I have with many other systems, click the install startup and reboot, after about 4 minutes of waiting I see the black screen drop and it asks me to restart my comp, presumably a kernel panic error. I've done this with two different hd's to rule out it being an hd problem. I've also procured a friend's copy of leopard and the same problem occurs. The system was acquired from a local business that closed recently and sold off it's stuff which is how I came into possession of the system. It has no 3d party hardware that I can see. I find myself wondering if it is a problem with the motherboard and since the system used to be for business purposes perhaps there is some sort of block or lockout on the mobo that's preventing an installation.

My question is, to anyone who has this game, have you found the write settings where the game runs 100% smooth? I'll sacrifice graphics for smoothness. Wanted to know what the general consensus is for to game to get running really smooth. Didnt want to just bring all my sliders down to a minimum without knowing what I am doing. I have Sims Medieval on DVD disc. Yesterday, when I inserted it into my Mac, it said the disc was blank. I have played the game on my Mac before, though I do not think I have tried to play it since I upgraded to Mavericks in March this year. I last had Snow Leopard, and it worked fine.Â
I did put the disc into a Windows machine today and it recognised that it was a Sims game (dual OS disc) and showed me the files.Â
I have never run into this type of problem before, and I don't own any other software on disc that runs on only Mac or both Mac and Windows so I can see if it is just this program.Â
I have found one thread on a website where people have had the same problem, but no one has a solution and they're all moaning about EA not fixing it, when the game came out in 2011 and so I think the problem is with Mavericks, not EA.
