I have been scouring google for hours to this solution and cannot find a solution.
I have an Airport Express acting as the router, connected to the ethernet jack in my dorm.
Now, my NAT is OPEN.
But I cannot connect to my friends online.
DOES ANYONE have a working configuration????
I recently had Fios installed and they provide a router/modem Actiontec M1424. I have it set up so I am still able to get wifi off my airport express since it provides faster wifi speeds. I am having a problem with xbox live.
I keep getting NAT moderate instead of open. I opened ports 3074 and 88 in airport utility but no luck. Is it because it is going through two routers?
Anyone have a similar setup and have an open nat? The reason I choose not to use the actiontec is because on live the connection is terrible but I have an open nat.
ok so heres the deal.I have my airport extreme upstairs which is providing wireless through my house with a speedstream router plugged into it. downstairs is my tv with my xbox 360. I just bought a aiport express so i can plug my ethernet cable from my xbox into and that will supposedly connect wirelessly to my extreme.

My mac is sharing internet through it's ethernet connection and my ipod, blackberry, and friend's computers can connect via it's connection. However, the same does not go for my xbox 360. I keep getting a message saying "unable to connect to xbox live because my router can't assign an ip address" I have tried unplugging my internet for 30 seconds but it still doesn't work...neither does a direct ethernet connection.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to do some research on a pair of speakers that I can use around the house. Right now, I just have my iMac speakers and some headphones.
Optimally I would like to have a pair of speakers set in the living room that I can automatically wirelessly stream my iTunes music to.
Right now the only ones that I have seen (via this forum and on the web) that I can directly connect an Airport Express to are the AudioEngine A5. I believe with these you literally plug the airport express to the back of them, if I understand them correctly.
Is there a list somewhere of speakers that are Airport Express enabled or can others provide alternatives to the AudioEngine A5?
So i've been using the xbox webcam for skype chatting while connected to my 3-year-old ibook G4 running OS 10.4.9 and all is right with the world... But I'd like to be able to use it with my (much faster) desktop G4 running OS 10.5.6, but no dice. the 'puter won't even recognize it. I browed around to see if it's just not compatible with Leopard but some folks out there seem to think it is.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhenever I'm playing an online game on my Xbox 360 and my telephone rings, I am automatically disconnected from Xbox Live. My router and everything are downstairs, almost directly below my 360 which is using the wifi.
Would buying an Airport Express fix this? I'm thinking maybe it'll boost the wifi strength? I don't know, I'm not very skilled when it comes to internet stuff and I'm not quite sure why I'd be disconnected every time the phone rings. Anyone?
Just moved back to school and got our internet set up. Our internet service came with a simple cable modem and no router. I set up my airport express to give my apartment wifi, but the problem is, xbox doesn't have wireless built in (i refuse to purchase the wireless dongle). So my roommates and i purchased an ethernet network hub. We made one connection to my airport express, and one connection directly into the xbox. Now here's what we can't figure out. We can only configure one or the other to work at a time. We can't get them both to work at the same time. We configure the xbox, and the airport express won't work. We then reconfigure the airport, and we get kicked off of xbox live. Does anyone know a way to get both of these to work simultaneously?

My 360 is in another room.. and while I have a long enough ethernet cable to hardwire it to the router, that's pretty inconvenient and doesn't really look that good. So my question is... how would the connection quality be if I connect it to the airport express? Is it like hardwiring it?

So I am interested in getting an airport express so I can capture the wireless from my netgear router and then connect my xbox 360 to the ethernet port to use the internet... I would also like to connect my desktop PC to the ethernet port to use the internet because I use my Macbook Pro for internet use. Since my desktop doesn't have a wireless card I won't have to buy an adapter for it if i use the airport express. I also want to use the airport express to connect to my AV receiver.
Basically in my room I have a desktop PC, xbox 360, AV receiver, and a tv. The reason I ask about the requirement to have an airport extreme base station was because it seemed like most of the posts on this topic said you need to enable "Allow this network to be extended" and i don't think my netgear router has this option, but i dont see why it would need it...
In my mind I would expect the airport express to be able to connect to my wireless network after i enter in the password, and then be able to connect my xbox or pc to the ethernet port...
So here is my deal. I have an airport express base station which i use as my router. It works just fine when i have it as my wireless router for my macbook and my pc when i have it locked using a WPA password. When i have it locked though it will not work with my xbox 360 and linksys wireless gaming adapter [URL:..] which i have. When i unlock the WPA and leave the airport express unlocked it will work with my macbook and my xbox 360, but it then wont work with my pc. I do not personally care about the pc, but my wife does. I also would like to have it locked and WORK with all three devices. Anyone have any suggestions for this lost soul?

I'm currently in an apartment with a single wired connection running to my Macbook Pro, i haven't got time to buy a switch or router right now and i've been trying to connect my 360 to the internet using Airport. All of the how-to's i've found so far concern connecting the 360 and Macbook via Ethernet rather than Airport, and while i've tried to follow the steps as best as i can i haven't been able to connect to xbox live.

I reinstalled Snow Leopard onto my mini and it has AirPort Utility 5.4.2. When I try to connect to the AEBS, I get a pop-up stating that a newer version of AirPort Utility is needed, but I can't find anything newer than 5.4.2 on the Apple download site. Does anyone know if Apple has the AirPort Utility software that works with this hardware/software available somewhere?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought my MacBook Pro and a brand new Airport Extreme to go with it about 4 months ago. I have the MacBook and my wife's iMac hooked up wirelessly to the Airport Extreme with no problems. My son't Wii also hooks up with no problems wirelessly. My Xbox 360 hooks up sometimes, and sometimes it doesn't. It's not wireless, it's hooked directly to the Airport Extreme via Ethernet cable. When I first got the Airport Extreme, the Xbox had no problem hooking up to it and the internet. But lately it sometimes hooks up, and sometimes it doesn't...with no explanation as to why other than maybe the position of the planets or something. Restarting the Airport Extreme helps sometimes, sometimes it doesn't. I'll just leave it be for a few days...change nothing...and then try the Xbox again and automagically it seems to work...for a few days. Then for no reason will just stop again. It can't connect through anything then, not even hook up to one of the Mac's using Connect360. It's as if the 360 is not even hooked to any network then. Also, the Xbox 360 had zero network problems when I was using a DLink router, which was the set-up to hook to the internet and the hub of the home network for the past year. The 360 could hook to the Macs and access the Internet. But the Dlink wasn't wireless, which is why I went with the Airport Extreme when I got my Macbook Pro.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is driving me crazy. I bought a Belkin F5D9050 802.11g compatible usb wireless card, and it will not recognize my airport express!
I have changed the settings in windows, and know the drivers are correct, it just won't find it as a online router/hub.
It says the network is unavailable, and there was an issue setting up wireless, it is like the windows wireless setup and the card are competing, so I cancelled the windows g setup and still nothing.
I am running SP 3 for XP, and tried chatting Belkin support and no one knows.
I installed Airport Utility, and etc and still doesn't connect.
The only flicker I had was when I went into my mac and tried creating another network, and then it signaled a device, but would not connect.
I try to accomplish to use Airport Express, connected to my stereo, to use to play the songs from my iTunes collection from a PC (Windows Vista).
I have a Belkin N Wireless router which I use for a HP laptop which works fine.
My Airport Base Station Agent does not detect any AirPort Express, wirelessly.
When I connect with a wire from the Router to AIE it is detected, so I think that AIE itself works.
But whatever I do, it does not seem to want to find the AIE without wire.
I'm looking into buying a wireless router, I have a macbook pro and wanted to ask how the Airport express is. Is it a good router? Ill be living in a 2 bedroom apartment so the range I'm assuming should be good. Can I connect a printer or my external hdd to it?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a standard wireless network for the Internet, and have just bought an airport express to make my printer wireless -- thinking I could use it to create a second, separate network (with no internet connection) that just connected to the printer.
I realize that I'd have to switch networks from the Internet to the Printer if I wanted to print, and vice versa. No big deal.
But it didn't work so far. Maybe my theory is faulty.
I'm wondering if I need to also connect it via an ethernet cable to the wireless router.
Or I've just bungled the setup.
I have a MacBook with an 802.11G airport card. The express (and router) can do N as well as G.
I have a problem with my Airport Express. I plug it in to the plug and connect the ethernet. When i go to search for the base station on Airport Utility it doesn't show it and it tells me to rescan to see if I can find it but it never does. Any ideas on how to fix ?

After trying again and again and failing to connect to my home wireless network which has a password, I tried again after disabling the password, and it worked fine, I'm playing music via iTunes through it right now.
Problem is, I'd obviously prefer a secured network, why can't I connect to a secured network? I'm using a Linkseys WRT160N Router as a base.
I have an airport express to pump music to my speakers, but use an airport extreme as my primary network - I had a problem with the extreme and had to reset it to factory settings - when it came back online I gave it a new name etc. and set it up - internet works great, but the airport express is now offline...I've tried resetting it by holding down the reset button for 10 seconds and also holding down the reset button as I plug it in...neither does anything and I cannot get the airport express software to recognize it...it only lists my airport extreme.

I have an AX and it has worked flawlessly until about an hour ago. The power in my barracks went out, (im a Marine by the way) and all of a sudden i can't connect. I've tried resetting everything (i.e. the AX, the internet, and my mac) many times and nothing has worked. I've restarted my computer, the light is green on the AX, and my mac says im connected, but i can't get to the internet.

View 24 Replies View RelatedI currently have 3 AXs on my home network--2 extending with one creating a network. Currently I have 11 clients attatched to one Airport and none attatched to the others! Thus that airport is getting hammered with traffic and bottlenecking and slowing down etc.
Is there a way to distribute clients more evenly and/or choose which one to connect to?
