Mar 20, 2012
I can't get around this error:Â None of the selected updates could be saved. Software Update can't connect to the update server. Make sure you're connected to the Internet, and then try again. Connection reset by peer.

It has been almost one month since my MBP (mid 2010) getting a strange issue, that the Software Update always say NO UPDATES, even if there are many updates available. I guess this began since I updated my MBP to Mac OSX Lion Update 1.7.3 (Client Combo). FYI, the App Store can run (download new app or updates) without problem, and I can browse or send/receive mails without problem.Â
Our software update service is not downloading the 10.7.3 updates. I have updated the server to 10.7.3 but it made no difference. I have start/stopped the service a few times - it as downloaded a load of multilingual voices post date 7th Feb 2012 and the Security updates for Snow Leopard post date 2//2/2012 just not the 10.7.3 updates. Do Apple put a delay in the server to try to spread the demand on bandwidth?
Clients are updating fine from the server all other services working normally.
I recently purchased Lion and was excited to install from the app store. Purchased and it appears to be downloading but stops about 3/4 of the way through and I get an "NSPortTimeoutException" error. I tried downloading a simple free app and same situation. I ran disk utility and hard drive is fine. I had no issues with running software update until recently. I thought this may be the problem so I ran software update again. I gives details regarding several updates. When I attempt to install the updates, I immediately get a prompt to restart my computer. I run software update again and the same list of updates come up. The updates are not being downloaded or installed. My Internet connection is fast and reliable.Â
I'm running Lion Server 10.7.3. I have a number of 10.7.1 clients on my network that are directed to get their updates from the server. When I run software update from the clients, I get the response that no updates are available.
I was double checking software updates to see if the Java patch for the flashback virus and noticed it's not showing any Java updates. I tried several times and it just says that my software is up to date. Further, the security update history of my Mac was compared to Apple's update history and noticed that there have never been Java updates installed?
When I try to update my IMAC with software updates a box appears saying:  none of the selected updates could be saved. You don't have permission. How can I fix this.
after installing the latest itunes update march 8th 2012 an error started to show that said error saving itunes library cannot be saved error (-54) or something like that.im using OSX Lion
I am running Lion Server 10.7.4, with Software Update Server running. My clients are all configured to hit that server as I have them pointed to it via a preference modification (I've also used Workgroup Manager with the same results). What's happening is this:
Client runs SW update locally, it goes to my server and either:
1. It finds no updates (although this is false). If I run same update to Apple's servers ot finds updates
or
2.It finds updates but not all of them. This is what's happening more of the time.
I can verify in the access logs on the server that clients are in fact hitting the server. Is there some sort of cache that needs to be cleared? I was reading something about an Apache issue, or perhaps DNS? I have tried both local IP address as well as name of server.
when i updated my lion 10.7.2 to 10.7.3 a couldn't connect any network (both of ethernet & wi-fi)i did everything about this problem on internet forums. i love my macbook pro but i hate lion!how can i fix that error?
I updated my iMac with the 10.7.4...but after the download was completed, an error popped out -- 'UPDATE CAN'T BE SAVED'...when i again ran the software update, the download again started from 0%.
Im having problems with software update im trying to update two machines one is running 10.6 and one is 10.7 and i was downloading the update and got the same error message at the end of each download that itunes file was corrupted and would redownload when i reran software update but each time i re run it I get the same error message. I want to know if there is a way to reset the downloadÂ
I just tried downloading OS 10.6.5 and partially into the download, it disconnected and failed to complete. I was wondering if the partial download is saved somewhere. The last time this happened to me, it caused a big issue when I tried to finish downloading and install later and I ended up having to reinstall OS X. So... I would like to delete any partial downloads if they exist so that the next download is a fresh copy.
Update 2012-002 on macbook pro. When rebooting, after 'successful' install, I now see a repeating cycle of Error = 19, unable to mount root. From my *nix perspective I fear the worst - that the boot sector (at a minimum) is hosed. I tried (running Lion 10.7.x) booting with the command key down - no joy. do not currently have my install disk (sadly, it's in storage, somewhere). I'm concerned about this. this is VERY unusual for an update. This is a relatively new drive (750GB drive installed about 8 months ago). At no point have I seen errors, and believe me, I look. Assuming the worst case is repartitioning? (ah for hte days of 'fdisk /mbr')

I recently purchased a new ipod touch. When I plug it into itunes, it says I need to update my itunes version to 10.6. If I update to this, will all my songs, playlists, etc. still be saved in itunes?
Ever since I upgraded to snow leopard since it came out, I have been having problems with updates, such as iPhoto, iTunes everything and anything. Whenever there is a new update released by apple and I open up for example iTunes it tells me there is an update available, so I click on update. It downloads when it is done I click install, when it is installing I get an error saying: The Update "Compressor Update" can't be saved. The update could not be expanded and verified. It may have been corrupted or tampered with during downloading. The update will be downloaded and checked again the next time that Software Update runs.
When I check for software updates only itunes and random other updates show up but not security updates or safari update. When i check installed updates I realized my last security update was 2011-004 and I still have safari 5.0.6.
