Mar 17, 2012I worked out this bugger mostly by chance, some people online are offering some out date info on this topic. Which involves pressing a pencil icon in the advanced area of network to pull up the hidden password, but that is not available. I found it in KeyChain that is easy to find in the Utilities. Its pretty easy to work it out from there.

Sep 12, 2014I originally logged in at the free and slow level, entering my room number and last name to confirm. Then I found out that by joining the hotel's loyalty program I can get the fastest speed for free, but I can't get back to the login screen. I've gone into Network Prefs > Wifi Network > Advanced, to delete the network name off the list, but even after a restart, my MBP just logs right in at the slow level.Â
I've deleted all networks from the list and saved it, yet it just logs right back into the slow level. I looked all over Keychain and don't see anything relating to this network anywhere. Everything I try, my computer just keeps logging back into the slow level. The hotel has even deleted my login on their end, and somehow I just get right back into the slow level without entering my room number again. Where is this password and network info stored so I can delete it?

Jun 1, 2014I've had the same internet connection for 5 years. Same wifi. Same password.Â
My previous mbp / os had no problems connecting and *staying* connected.Â
Now, with my 8-month-old MBP / OS10.8.5, I regularly get bounced off wifi and when I try to reconnect, I see my wifi in the networks list, but I get "a connection timeout occurred" fail.Â
Incidentally, my iPhones (4 and 5) over five years have *never* encountered this issue. They are on the exact same wifi / password / network as my MBP.

Sep 1, 2014I have a Brother MFC-9340CDW WIFI printer which my iMac says it can't find sometimes when I want to print. I think I have narrowed the problem down to when my MacBook Air is on at the same time and using WIFI on the same network If I turn off WIFI on the MacBook I can print from my IMac. I am not sure if it is a router problem or what but we use the iMac and MacBook Air at the same time quite often. Checked on the Brother website - nothing.Â

By using the built in screensharing service of Mountain Lion (not Apple Remote Login), can I use "Back to my Mac" to remotely log in iMac(A) from Macbook Air(C) when outside of my home network? In particular, can I "log in" iMac(A) when it's not already logged in on my iMac or iMac(B) is using the machine?

MacBook :: Won't Work With Wifi Network / Drops Wifi
Jan 10, 2011MacBook. 2Ghz Intel Core Duo. OS Snow Leopard 10.6.6. I'm running a 2006 MacBook with Snow Leopard. A few months back it started dropping wifi connection. Airport would show no connection but would list my network along with others in my building. If I tried to connect with my WPA password it would just time out. At this time I was running Leopard.
Since then I've done a few things.Tried running the Netgear router with no encryption at all (same thing happens). Will lose connection and then time out trying to connect
I've tried the MacBook in a coffee shop with wifi access and at my parents (same NetGear router) and at my new apartment with a horrible Orange Livebox.
Taken the MacBook in to see the genius bar at Glasgow Apple store. Worked fine for them, but I explained it was intermittent but we could not force it to fail. I'm sure if it ran for an hour it would.
At present if I have the MacBook in the living room (where the Livebox router is situated) its fine and wont drop connection. If I walk some 5m to my bedroom it will work for approximately half and hour and then lose it. A few days ago I bought the Snow Leopard upgrade and installed it last night. MacBook runs a hell of a lot faster (yay!) but moving it away from the router and its dead as disco in half an hour.
So to clarify, the MacBook has been tested on 4 wifi networks/ locus with same issue. iPhone, Xbox 360 and PS3 all have no issues with dropping connection no matter where they are in the apartment.
Apartment is a new build and its walls are not made out of lead or kryptonite. Is this a hardware issue rather than software? When updating to Snow Leopard it was an update to the existing OS of Leopard not a clean install.
AIRPORT says the following in System Profiler.

Jun 21, 2014Every time I try to log into my webmail from my computers or iPhone, I get an incorrect user name or password error message and haven't been able to receive my mail in my inbox. The server (Cox Communications) is telling me I need malware or spyware or whatever the heck one uses for this type of thing. I've never had to worry about that before but have recently posted items on Ebay, Craigslist and also a resume online which is about the time I seemed to start having problems with my server connection.Â

I don't believe I did anything to cause what it does now but I don't like it: If I move something to to trash, I am prompted to enter my password (which I really don't like) and no items are held in the trash (what I used to call the recycling bin--which I kind of liked having).Â
As for troubleshooting, I have changed the preference settings under "Finder" and nothing changes.

Aug 27, 2014My MacBook's default fonts for viewing content in the Malayalam script/language seem to be Malayalam MN and Malayalam Sangam MN -- not surprisingly, since those are the default Malayalam fonts that come with the OS. However, both of those fonts are missing a lot of conjuncts/ligatures. There are some free fonts that do have the missing characters, so I'd like to put them at the top of whatever preference list the OS is using to decide which fonts to choose.

As I have recently replaced an old modem router (D link) with a new fancy one (wireless gateway), I am wondering if this is somehow still attached to my computer. The D link wifi unsecured network has a different IP address than my newly formed secure wifi network's IP address.Also - if I turn my wifi off (regardless of if I am on the dlink or my new secured wifi) I can still watch netflix etc. on my tv from living room which tells me the the wifi is still on. Why is this so?Does my Mac have two IP addresses or is that D link someone elses?
