MacBook :: OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5) Correct Login Password Not Being Accepted
Nov 30, 2014
My son is using my old macbook pro 13-inch and he went to login using the correct security info but keeps getting denied. and clicking the question mark only leads to the computer recommending the very same password that he is using with no other options to request a change password option. the computer may still be running mountain lion, though possibly mavericks. definitely not yosemite.

Technically this isn't my problem but my cousin's problem. He has a Macbook Pro and recently had to reinstall Mac OS X, from what I understand he used time machine to restore his files, settings, account, etc. And apparently now on login his password to his account is not accepted. He stated that he did not change the password from what it was before the reinstall of his OS.
My macbook ran out of battery two days ago. When I restarted it had all my data and files, but the settings had been reset (i.e. my screen saver, dock, expose, etc had all been reset to the original settings). A day later, the macbook froze and I tried to restart it. It now goes to the login page with my user ID but does not accept my correct password. Instead, the rainbow pinwheel spins for a few minutes before the login window shakes and then clears my entered password, as if it does not accept the password. After a few repeated tries, it offered me my password hint. I know my password is the same one I've always used. Â

Gave my old G4 iBook, running Tiger, to a friend. Situation is:
1) She brings the iBook over, saying she can't install a new driver because it's stopped recognizing the password.
2) I confirmed this, and using the install disk, I successfully re-set the password for that machine's one and only account.
3) Now she says that the machine asks for her keychain password "every time I try to do anything, in any application" - and she says that neither the current password, nor the old one is accepted.
I've read similar threads, and I know I have to re-set one or more keychains. Which one(s)? How can I do this?
I'm unable to login into the App store. Here's what I've tried:Â
1. Tried to login with the same apple ID into iTunes (OK), appleid.apple.com (OK);Â
2. Restarted application and the whole macbook;Â
3. Did everything from this page: OS X: "Cannot connect" or "Cannot connect to the App Store. An internet connection is required"Â
4. Created another Apple ID from within the App Store. After this it started saying "Welcome Vladimir", on the main page, but any useful action (like <View profile>) reveals authentication popup, which I cannot pass, as before...Â
I type Apple ID and Password, then click <Sign In> -- nothing really happens (at least, visually). <Sign In> button stops "blinking" for a second or two, and then starts blinking again, just like I were not trying to login at all.. I want to update to newer Mac OS X, but seem to need to login into App Store.
Is there a way to have a different mail password instead of using the one that you use to login to Lion directly? Currently the two are the same login password = mail password.I'd like to have a different password for the two.Is this possible whether via command line or otherwise?

I couldn't log into my iMessage account in the Messages application on Mac OS 10.8.5 on my Macbook Pro. At first it would try to log in, then I get a window saying that I couldn't log in and to contact support, . And this was the "validation code" - 2759-9329-5430Â
I called support, they said that there was probably just a glitch and it'd be fixed in an hour... it's been about 4 days. Still can't log in. After I received that first message that took me to this page, then is just started saying "can't log in." .I'm back to getting that "validation code" page link again... Who spilled a beer on the iCloud server again?Â
I forgot my login password to my macbookpro laptop and I'm trying to retrieve the old password or make a new password so I can login and use my computer

I need to restore the original software on an imac and macbook but it wont let me do this without entering my apple id (app store log in) anyway around this? as I want the macs to appear new to the next user and without any of my info left on them .
Since last night ,I cannot watch videos on Facebook or you tube or play face book games and cannot log into paypal but can log into forums and such like ?
I can't use my MacBook air because that writing me that password is incorrect, but I'm sure that I'm typing a right password. I got many information that I need on that!
Every time I try to log into my webmail from my computers or iPhone, I get an incorrect user name or password error message and haven't been able to receive my mail in my inbox. The server (Cox Communications) is telling me I need malware or spyware or whatever the heck one uses for this type of thing. I've never had to worry about that before but have recently posted items on Ebay, Craigslist and also a resume online which is about the time I seemed to start having problems with my server connection.Â
I have a 5s iPhone, an OSX Mountain Lion and a Lion and it is happening on all three devices
Initially, the trash container worked as expected: Items would go directly to the trash and stay there until I emptied it.Â
I don't believe I did anything to cause what it does now but I don't like it: If I move something to to trash, I am prompted to enter my password (which I really don't like) and no items are held in the trash (what I used to call the recycling bin--which I kind of liked having).Â
As for troubleshooting, I have changed the preference settings under "Finder" and nothing changes.

I have purchased a Bose Wave SoundTouch music system and am having major problems connecting to my Apple Time Machine WiFi facility. This WIFi works with various other domestic items. The problem appears to be associated with the Apple WiFi password. I have been using this password for several years before buying my Apple iMac without any problem. procedure for changing the WiFi password.
I re-installed lion on my new mini to get to Setup Assistant to transfer files from my older iMac. The transfer went well, I think. However, I cannot login. I have tried no password (the way the old iMac was set up). I have tried every password that I can think of including my Apple ID password. I did not set up any password for the new computer, but it did offer a hint for a password that it wiil not accept. How in the world did it come up with a password with out my consent? and how can I access my new computer?
My mail has been working fine on my mail app on my macbook pro... until recently. Its repeatedly prompting me for my password and then says it is incorrect and to try again. Upon going on the actual mail website and doing an online sign in I have realised that the password is infact correct. How can i resolve this. Additionally, its also happening on my iphone which is why I know its something I need to alter with my apple products.Â
I am trying to access websites like facebook, gmail and other websites that need a login and password. I think it is a problem with my Wifi configuration, is there a way that I can reset my configuration?
I cant figure out how to make my network require a password when u log in. For example i have a i-phone i would like it when i log in to my mac, that it asks for a password. so how do i do that?
My father who is 91 purchased an iMac in January used it once. He is now just setting it up again after he has recently moved and this will be his only computer… finally getting rid of the PC world of Bill Gates and into a real computer. However, he has forgotten the login password at start-up which was set-up at the Apple Store. Can I reboot the machine with a CD (have one for Snow Leopard) and change administration details this way even though is running OS X Lion?Â
Is there a way to reset the login password without the installation disk? Or is there a way to get a disk sent to me? I don't have mine anymore. I'm using OS X Lion v10.7

My password to a certain site changed, and Safari wouldn't remember the new password; it maintained the old one. So I went in to Safari preferences and removed the site from the list. Now, I can't get Safari to remember the username or the password. I exited Safari and went back to the site again, but the login boxes were empty. How to correct this?
