MacBook Air :: Not Displaying On Through VGA To All Projectors
Mar 22, 2012
Tried 1 (newer model) at the office that worked fine but my older one at home doesn't display. I still get the blue flash screen though. Also tried a new Fujitsu monitor that didn't display either (claims no input signal). Does the xternal monitor through TB/MD port to VGA adapter only work on some models or if it works on one should it work on all? What can I try?
If I use the mini display to DVI to connect to a projector, it will work if the displays are mirrored, but if I extend the display, where the projector has a higher resolution, the projector display will have artifacts, noise, and if it has a lot of pictures or videos on the screen, the display sometimes stops working. Even if i set the display resolution to match the same as the laptop, I still get noise and artifacts unless I mirror the displays.
Then if I true to use the mini port VGA to the same projector but Windows won't recognize the projector. I've seen several reports about this. I have the latest Intel graphics driver and my bootcamp partition is running Windows 7, fully updated and patched.
Lastly, this seems to only happen with my MBA with the Intel HD 3000 graphics. I have another MBA with the Nvidia 300M and the mini port to DVI works fine.
I was having problems before the battery sign desided to display an 'X'earlier in the day the system was not regestering the trackpad's 'click'I spoke to an apple support guy and it was sorted in about a half after a few tries of some restarting and command holding about a couple of hours later the same 'click' problem thought it'd bloody come back! and so i tried to repeat the restarting and command holding to see if i could get my book going by myself...but then the moment i restarted the book the fan sound (a sound i had never heard my macbook make before) was there, loud, and i knew somthing was not right. Â
I've had my White Macbook for the best part of about a year now, and I'm really pleased with it. Recently though it's been getting a little sluggish, I checked the specs out and I have 1GB of RAM on board, I though fair play, and got a 4GB Kit. I've just plugged it in and it's only displaying 2GB on board.
I could understand if it maxed at 3 as I am only running a 32bit OS and it wouldn't be able to index the extra gig. I'm now looking closer at the RAM Modules and its saying that they are 1GB each. It seems as if one of my DIMM Slots isn't working, any ideas what I can do or is it back to the Apple store for a hefty repair bill?
When I access the appications by HD>Users>(my user name)>applications, finder wont display any applications what so ever (in any vew or arrangement selection). However, when I went into preferences and added the applications option to my side bar in finder, it pulled them all up just fine.applications are still able to be accessed by using launch pad as well as from a folder from the dock, the only way they are blank, is by accessing them through the sequence above.

I've been having troubles with my macbook CD drive lately, and this new problem is very annoying. When watching a CD movie, no matter what I do subtitles are displayed. It's not a foreign movie either. I go to the menu and select subtitles off, but still they're displayed once I hit play.
All the movies that now have subtitles, didn't use to. I've been playing movies on here for three years and suddenly everything has subtitles turned on and I cannot turn them off.
The screen on my macbook (07 White 13" Macbook) is only displaying the top half of the screen. The bottom half is filled with colored vertical lines. On occasion it will clear up partially but mainly stays this way. I have reset the smc and pram. I have also disassebled and reseated the connection on the back of the lcd screen only.I have not reseated the connection wher it goes inside the computer body itself.
I am having more issues with my MacBook Pro and it's really starting to irrate me, because I know if I take it to the Apple Store they aren't going to do anything about it. But anyways, lately my screen has been turning all kinds of colors. For example I'll be watching a video on YouTube and all of a sudden my screen will go solid white. And the only way to fix it is the restart by holding down the power button. The second time it happened it turn black. And each time it happens a different color appears. So far I've had white, black, blue, purple, green, and red.
Just got my new Retina MacBook Pro... when I try to get videos to go full screen in anything (youtube, cnn, etc.) only the top left 1/4th displays the video, while the rest of the screen is left blank and turns white. Using google chrome canary. What can I do to make videos go full screen?

I have a white macbook that i recieved a few years back it works great and plan on using it for a few years foward. However i recently purchased two samsung 24 inch monitors to plug in. i have it hooked up with a cable spliter and all is well except that the two monitors both display the same image and i cant find a way to change that. What are my options for both screens to be different. hopefully options on the less expensive side considering i spent all my money on these monitors
I am trying to connect my 13" unibody Macbook to my brand new LCD Samsung TV with the following situation:
-Cables: Apple's Mini display to DVI and DVI to HDMI cable.
-TV: 32" Samsung LCD HD 2mp - 1920 x 1080 @ 60HZ.
The only settings that does work:
Anything else shows this:
Could it be a faulty DVI to HDMI cable? even though the lowest resolution works?
UPDATE::
I got the DVI to HDMI cable replaced and now my macbook does display on the big screen, however i am having a problem with colors and fonts looking weird..
Beside playing with the settings on the monitor, is there anything that I can do on the Mac itself? or any apps to modify these settings?
So I searched the forums and couldn't find a thread on this. My finder is no longer displaying my free space correctly. Whenever I remove files, it is stuck at 5.85 GB, even after dumping several gigs of files. I have an Early 2008 MacBook running Snow Leopard and my disk has been repaired and verrfied.
The screen on my Macbook Air just recently started to periodically display flickering lines. They are multicolored and stretch across the entire screen. Hardware test was ok, and console not reported any issues. MBA is "late 2010". Warranty ended January!
I have a kanex thunderbolt to HDMI cable that I use to connect to my TV. I recently updated my Mac OS X to 10.7.4. I am not sure if that is the reason, but I can no longer seem to connect. It is being detected by my TV, but the screen isn't showing up.Â
When I connect, the laptop screen goes blue and then returns to normal and the TV goes from no input signal to a black screen, but that's it. I have tried restarting, shutting down and resetting the PRAM/NVRAM. I called Apple support and they have set me up with an appointment at an Apple Store later this week.

Mac MAIL not displaying all messages downloaded from server.Â
My MAIL isn't showing all the messages that are downloaded from the mail server (Virgin media). I just found out, because friends have asked about their e-mails and my answers. I've never seen those e-mails, but they are no longer on the server (i.e. Virgin media). No RULES etc. have been applied in MAIL and this is a very serious and frustrating issue.
It's been a while since I've hooked up my MacBook (late 2008 aluminium) to my TV (Samsung LE40M87BD), to use the latter as an external display for watching a film. Tonight I did it once again, and to my dismay the TV was displaying only thousands of colors. Maybe even only 256, I don't know. It's not a changed setting in my TV, as I've looked through its menu and couldn't find any option that would force it to display the millions it's certainly capable of.
After seeing this weird issue, I opened System Preferences. I looked in the Displays preference pane, but since some years Apple allows no manual control over the color depth anymore. So no luck there. I tried restarting, but that changed nothing. It outputs a correct 1080p 50Hz (PAL) signal, but the colors are just all wrong.
How can it be that my MacBook always used to perfectly display millions of colors on my TV, but now suddenly doesn't? I'm using Apple's own Mini Display Port to DVI adapter, and then a DVI to HDMI cable, which always worked problem free. So it's not the cables, I think. It has to be something in the hardware or software. I'm hoping it's software, otherwise it will be a more serious problem. I haven't tried BootCamp yet, but will do so tonight, just to see if Vista will output millions of colors.
I've been having this weird problem with Safari for almost two months now even before the 5.1.4 update. I even went to Apple Genius with my macbook pro and they said the problem is minor and should be fixed with the new update (5.1.4), but the problem still persists!Â
Basically, whenever I go on YouTube for EVERY/any video and click on the "more info" button to look at the information spread on videos, all the remaining texts and links are "invisible." I have to literally highlight everything in the information spread in order to permanently display the texts, links, etc after enlarging the information tab. I've tried updating everything (Safari--both 5.1.3 and 5.1.4, OSX, repairing disk permissions, etc) to NO AVAIL! It's so frustrating and annoying. I'm not that tech savvy, so I don't quite understand what kind of problem this applies to whether CSS, JAVA, Flash, or whatever else. A genius bar representative said it's not Flash (which I also updated and reinstalled a few times), since I can load and watch videos perfectly fine. He was able to reproduce the problem on one of the macbook airs at the store and that's when he said the problem should be fixed with the newest update. Obviously not. Please help me resolve this issue or at least, understand it. It's really frustrating. Chrome and other browsers work perfectly fine with YouTube on my MacBook as well. Â Â

I previously installed lion os x on my macbook which was a snow leopard. When I then turn it on, it shows the grey screen and stays there forever nothing happens.
After uploading my photo to use in these forums, and saving said photo, the little box on the left of each post, keeps using my avatar. I don't want or need an avatar (do I?) and would rather use my photo. I see other posters using photos, so why doesn't my profile photo show up? I don't see anywhere under Profile Settings where I can either disable the avatar altogether, or, at the very least, enable the photo. I clicked saved after uploading my photo but how do I get it to show up with each post?
