MacBook :: Dual 24" Monitors - Displaying Same Image
May 13, 2009
I have a white macbook that i recieved a few years back it works great and plan on using it for a few years foward. However i recently purchased two samsung 24 inch monitors to plug in. i have it hooked up with a cable spliter and all is well except that the two monitors both display the same image and i cant find a way to change that. What are my options for both screens to be different. hopefully options on the less expensive side considering i spent all my money on these monitors

Is it possible to run two monitors independently via a hardware device with the macbook air? I would like to do it with a device that works well but doesn't cost a fortune.

I went for flashed Sapphire 4870 512 off eBay for my Mac Pro 1,1 running SL 10.6.2, with two Viewsonic VP2030b. The guy selling the card had sold flashed cards before and had 100% feedback, said the card worked with dual monitors and supported SL. Got the card, installed it without a problem, but could not get it to work with both monitors. Second monitor said no signal on both DVI channels. Checked all the wires, reinstalled, rebooted, no luck. Plugged both into my 7300GT, no issues at all. At one point, I got the left monitor to boot as the extended desktop, showing the dock but not showing the HDD or icons (which should be on the right screen), but the right screen still showed no signal and was black. Used the gather windows botton in the display preferences to see if adjusting settings helped, still nothing. Detect displays button was no help either. Is this a compatibility problem on my end or a flashing problem on his? Contacted him and he said he had no issues with his MP 1,1 and two 20" Apple displays.

I have a macbook 2006 model with the mini-dvi connector. It has snow leopoard installed. I plugged in 1 external monitor and it displays 1680x1050 resolution on that monitor which is perfect. What can I expect if I split that DVI output with a DVI splitter to two monitors?

I was wondering if it was possible to utilize dual external monitors with the Macbook pro's. With my thinkpad and a port rep I can use dual monitors as long as I keep the lid closed on the laptop. Is this possible with the new macbook's that were released today?

I am looking to hook up two ~20" monitors to my macbook pro. My office is a PC environment, so I need to boot into PC mode (any advice as to the best software to use? VMWare?), log into my company's remote access, and then use a PC peripheral keyboard and mouse and work in excel and powerpoint.Any advice as to the following: 1) how I hook up the two monitors (i.e. what cables / extra peripherals i might need, any tips on dealing with remote access) 2) any recommendations on PC keyboard and mouse, any tips you might have there. 3) what the best low-cost monitors are.

One simple question, do exist the possibility to connect 2 DVI Monitors, both HD, to a MacBook Pro 15" in order to "extend" the screen? No need to keep the MacBook pro LCD on. What is needed to succeed?

What device can I use to use 2 x 24" monitors for my 13" macbook aluminum unibody? I tried the DualHead2Go but that was poorly designed and could not handle max resolution of my monitors. Does anybody have a solution to this?

I have a new 2010 MBP and I'd like to hook up two external monitors to it, more specifically, two ASUS VW246H 24-Inch Widescreen LCD Monitors. Either via HDMI or DVI connections. I've found various usb monitor adapters, but i've read that many can't quite 'keep up' and I really can't seem to find a solid solution out there.
So does anyone have a dual monitor setup they currently use, if so, what are you using to connect the mini display port to both external monitors.

Searched and only found info on using a single external monitor, is it possible to run two off of a macbook (not pro) with some sort of external graphics card? It would be outputting to two 1680x1050 monitors. Currently have it with the single one and don't wanna just let my other monitor go to waste (use it for 360 so its off most of the time).

I'm considering purchasing a 15" MacBook Pro when the upgraded models are released. I do a lot of coding so I'd like to have at least one external monitor, maybe two. Can an external monitor be configured to portrait mode? That would let me see as much code as possible. Do the MBPs support dual external monitors? What resolution max? I realize that the new models haven't been released yet so it's hard to know for sure. I might just get a 27" iMac for now, then get a 13" MBP later. I'm switching from a 15" Dell.

I can't see any images when do an image search in google, yahoo etc. All I see is blank thumbnails! I'm using firefox, but its the same on safari too. I've tried playing around with the settings in preference but I've had no luck. I'm using an iMac with leopard which I just updated to snow leopard 3 weeks ago, I'm not sure if that is the cause or not. also google map doesn't display the image of the map. I've checked the box "Load images automatically" in content.

So I was using my second monitor to run my G5 while transferring files to my new 3.2 octo, and then the past week I was using it to transfer my old PC files to my new PC. Now I finally just went to hook it up as my second monitor on my Mac Pro, and found out that I CAN'T FIT BOTH DVI CABLES TO THE PORTS!!!
They're too close together so I can fit one monitor into either port, but not both simultaneously. My monitors are the aluminum 23" ACD's w/ DVI.

I was wondering if in anyway possible on a mac I can make my two monitors at the moment act as one virtual monitor? Know what I mean? So I want like one extra wide resolution which would cover both screens, not a separate resolution for each. Hope this is possible, much be in some way.

Does anyone know how to get hot corners to work on dual displays? I had a monitor plugged into my MBP 2.5ghz and after changing the relative location of the monitor in display settings, left of main screen to top of main screen, the lower left corner would allow me to access Expose for the applications in the current monitor, instead of exposing all application windows on both screens. This feature is very helpful though I cannot repeat it. Is there a certain orientation of the monitors that will allow each screen to have it's own hot corners functioning for that screen of was this just a fluke?
it would be nice to be working on one screen and watching a movie on the other without the movie expose ing when I only want to expose the applications/windows on the monitor who's corner I accessed.

I have an intel imac and would like to set up a second monitor to allow for more simultaneous side-by-side space when I do programming/editing. As I'm not interested in paying $1000+ for an apple monitor, I'd like to use a third party one. Thus far, I think I need a VGA to MiniDVI adapter [url], but then can I use ANY monitor that has a VGA port? And then will it be as simple as plugging in the second monitor and detecting it? Will the iMac screen remain unchanged? Will the computer just "know" when I scroll across one screen to the other

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

I have the setup in my sig and I'm running one Dell 24" at 1920x1200. The thing is that I'm considering getting another monitor exactly the same so I can run dual monitors, but I've read that some people have had some lock-up issues while attempting this. My question is who wide spread is this before I go and drop $600 on another monitor?

I am a web developer, and we are a Windows shop, but many of us are moving to Macs since we can run both OS X and Windows on the same machine. Well my work is purchasing a Macbook Pro for me, and I'll be hooking up an external monitor to it to replicate the dual monitor setup I have now.
As I learned in the OS X forum, I'm able to specify which programs I would like to launch in which "Space" upon boot. My question is, is VM Fusionware compatible with a dual monitor setup? As an example, could Space "1" contain my OS X desktop on both monitors, and then if I switch over to Space "2" which has VM Fusionware running with Windows, will the windows desktop span both screens as well?
