Dec 23, 2009Which apple cinema display would be best (past and present) for web designers. I previously owned a 17" MBP with the 1920 display but that resolution was just too high on that much screen real estate and I found myself always having to be super zoomed in while doing photoshop design work, etc.. And found that all my work was coming out too large for people on regular resolution screens.
I was thinking of moving to the 1680 20" ACD display but of course I can only buy one used and see it after I bought it, so i'm hoping to get some feedback from people on the forum.

Feb 4, 2012I am trying to make a script that allows me to call a number in Address Book in my Avaya Softphone app. Everything works great except that all numbers need to have "9-1" or "91" before the phone number. This is needed to access the outside line and all calling requires the country code. how to add the 91 to the script so that all phone numbers in the script have this added.

Mar 16, 2010I have a Stardom Decktank filled with two WD 1.5tb drives formatted as concatenated (JBOD). Raid version is AppleRaid 2.0.
I chose to format the disks as ntfs the first time but when I had to defragment the disks waaaaaay to often to get full speed with torrents and usenet I figured HFS+ would work better.
The only problem is now that I can't get the JBOD disk to work in Windows 7 via Boot Camp. Is there any drivers i need to install to get it to work? I have googled but found nothing.

Jun 12, 2010Now I have to ask what is the best way to get all my stuff on the new machine. I keep a backup on an external hd using Carbon Copy. I would like to do a clean install but I think that will be a night mere. I made a mistake when I made the boot camp windows partition by making it Fat 32.. Anyone know if I can make a new partition for windows on the new machine NFST and then copy my windows folder to it. I have it backed up using Winclone which works very well by the way.

Jun 14, 2008I have an iBook G4 with 768mb RAM (a 1 GB chip is in the mail ) it's the 12" 1.2ghz model. I've been having great fun with iMovie for years now, but not with this machine because I just got it. Anyways, when trying to make a project of 243 pictures from a vacation, it took about 2 1/2 hours to export directly to iDVD and then took 5+ hours to burn it! Is this normal?
I do realize I'm running low on RAM (especially being I'm running Leopard, which I forgot to mention above). What are the best ways to increase the speed without losing the quality. I don't need a whole lot more speed because I usually just let it run overnight. I am also running these projects from an external FW 120gb HD.

Jul 15, 2008As many of you may or may not have realized, iTunes has an annoying habit of not letting one import any video files not in "iTunes friendly" formats. This confounded me as iTunes presumably used Quicktime for playing... so if Quicktime+Perian/Flip4Mac can play them, why can't iTunes? Sick and tired of having to convert AVIs and other downloaded video types for the sake of having them in iTunes, I sought out a way of fooling iTunes via tweaking the File Type / Creator settings on files so that iTunes would accept them.
Start out by choosing the app/utility of your choice. I use FileBuddy (search here for it) but any number of utilities are capable of doing the job.
I then open up File Buddy, drag the video file/s into the main window and then click "Get Info". In the resulting window, near the bottom right is a pull-down menu labelled "Type". Whatever it is currently set to (in my AVI case, it was "VfW"), change it to "MooV" and click "Save" (or "Change All" if you are dealing with multiple files). Voila! Drag the old files into iTunes and there you go!

Jul 3, 2012I'm able to make DVDs from iPhoto or IMovie & I've mastered IDVD's Menus pretty well. The DVDs play ok in DVD players to that's a plus. Now, what I want to do is somehow put folders of photos .... mainly those I've used in the slideshows...... if possible, on the same DVD. The idea is I can gift a DVD with a video/slideshow & if the recipient wants the photos they can insert DVD disc into their own computer (not necessarily Apple) & download the photos.
