MacBook Air :: Are There Consistently Good Screen Rev Bs
Feb 25, 2009
I am planning to order the air so I won't be able to check out the screen as I ll be having it shipped to me, so I was wandering, is it worth the risk due to the screen problems or should I play it safe with a mbp? Have apple started releasing screens with marked improvements or are we still seeing the problems with lines of the earlier batches.
I am starting to wonder if Apple will ever 'fix' or upgrade the screen(s) in Rev B to the same level as rev A or if this screen is something we have to accept when we buy a MBA?
Cant make up my mind whether to buy the Rev B or not due to the screen. a last gen MBP glossy has a better screen as far as I have seen.
some times the screen goes black unexpectedly and if I move the screen it goes back to its noramal condition ! I went to the apple store and they said that it is for the connector of LCD what can I fix this problem ? do you know anything about the technology of this macbook's LCDs ?! can I fix it by myself ?!
I have a 2.8ghz macbook pro running leopard and after finally downloading the latest software update bringing me to 10.5.8 I feel it's running hotter nearly all the time.when simply using garageband, my MBP never usually ran hotter than 125 F, but after the update it runs at 180 constantly in garageband. could the update have done anything to make this happen, it's the only change I can think of
My MacBook had the trackpad clicks-not-registering problem that was cleared up by the Trackpad Firmware Update in November. Unfortunately, a variant of that problem seems to have surfaced. When waking from sleep or on boot, roughly half of the trackpad's clicks won't register, forcing me to click two or more times to start an app or read mail. After five or ten minutes, the problem seems to abate. I still "lose" clicks now and then, but not as often. Note that other trackpad functions seem unaffected when this happens.
I've tried resetting the SMC (no effect) and PRAM. Resetting PRAM cleared up the problem but only briefly, and now it's recurring.
I took the MacBook to the Genius Bar and the Genius suggested I use "tap to click" instead, but while that works, I'm a sloppy clicker and found that setting irritating.
I am running an approx 2 year old Macbook on my wifi network and have noticed that the download speeds are very slow all of a sudden.Testing with speedtest.net I am only getting 0.5MB/s compared to normal speeds of 2.5MB/s.I don't think it's the router because my iPhone is consistently showing 2-2.5MB/s.I have run software update to ensure everything is up to date.
I am a home theatre enthusiast, and I have setup Plex, Boxee, Netflix, Hulu, Front Row and Etc. The menus and interfaces are absolutely stunning and the customization of them are endless. So now I have this 27in LED iMac with greater than 1080p Resolution and these Apps look great but I want the content to look as good as the menus. Aside from the iTunes pseudo (low frame rate) HD, does anyone have any suggestions of a resource for "stunning" video content to match my beautiful 27in screen. It sure would have been nice to have a Blu Ray option. Hopefully the "bag of hurt" will soon be sitting on my desk killing me with pain.
when I connect my macbook unibody with dvi to my dell monitor the quality of the screen is not as "good" as when I connect my windows pc to it. Is this only a problem on macbook, or is the mac mini the same?
Ever since installing Leopard, I've noticed it is having problems consistently mounting discs, specifically my external USB drive (for Time Machine). Sometimes I plug it in and it shows up as a disc on my desktop (and viewable within Finder and by Time Machine); other times I'll plug it in an it doesn't show up any where (even after restarting OSX).
Not sure this is related, but I also noticed that a .dmg file I downloaded failed to mount (just got an error message). This time, when I restarted OSX when I tried launching it again, it worked.
For some reason, I keep getting logged out of websites. I logged into a website today and clicked the "Remember me" option and the next time I went to the website (a few minutes later), I was logged out. This is happening on all websites, including this one, almost on a daily basis.
Safari 5.0.5. MacOS 10.6.8..I am developping complex HTML+JavaScript. I notice that after a while (~30 mn) Safari does not clear its cache and re-uses old JS scripts. I have caches disabled in the development menu. Clearing cache or reinitialize Safari from the Safari menu is of no help.Only way is to delete the cache.db file in Libray/cache/com.apple.safari, exit Safari, empty trash, then relaunch !
I have a iMac and a Macbook (unibody before they became "pro"). Both are 2.4Ghz models with 4Gb of RAM. I think the iMac has a slower system bus, but they are pretty close otherwise.
I can rip DVDs and convert videos on the Macbook all day long without problems. But Handbrake always quits unexpectedly on the iMac. I have downloaded the latest version of Handbrake, uninstalled several times, and totally leave it alone while running Handbrake. Nothing prevents this from happening.
Does anyone know what could be causing this problem or another (free) program that will do what Handbrake does as easily? I officiate basketball and I have a lot of friends who are asking me about pulling clips from game DVDs. With Handbrake it is easy to rip the DVD and trim the clip using Quicktime.
I have an Early 13" MacBook Pro It seems that for some reason the Disk Utility is the root cause and I'm guessing that System Information queries Disk Utility for it's information while Finder does its own query. Maybe? At any rate I'd really like to resolve this issue if at all possible.
Info: MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.3), 500 GB hard drive.
A rule I use to try to remove a set of emails from a yahoo group into their own mailbox - NOT a smart mailbox as I want them OUT of Inbox - seems to be hit n miss. Some - the majority of messages - are moved as required but most days some (more or less) don't get caught.
Info: MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2), & iPhone 5/5c, iPad-mini/iP-m 2
I have been receiving the shut down signal continually every ~6 minutes now for two weeks. Apple care is unable to fix the problem....did the OS reload, and other permissions fixes without success.
Ever since installing Yosemite, I've been bugged by a design choice somebody made for dialog boxes. The trouble is that it doesn't seem to have rhyme or reason. (I know there probably is a reason; I just can't figure it out.) Many dialog boxes are just fine; easy to read, with black on white or white on blue action buttons.
Black on blue for an "OK" or "Choose" button.Especially for those of us who are about half to fully color blind, there is almost no way to distinguish between the two. Does Apple have no color blind people to act as the conscience of the folks who actually make these kinds of design choices?
I've tried changing system colors to no avail. Is there some way to complain about this other than a bug report? this is of course not a bug, as the program is functioning the way it was designed. It's just a very poor design.
Info: MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014), OS X Yosemite (10.10.1)
I am upgrading my MBP first gen unibody to an SSD drive. I just read that we should not clone an existing HDD to a SSD. The author did not give a reason why. So, my question is: will cloning my current HDD to a new SSD (using Super Duper) adversely affect the SSD performance? My initial plan for upgrading before reading this article was to clone my HDD to a new SSD in an enclosure (using Super Duper), then install the SSD. I thought this would save me a lot of effort restoring everything from scratch.
Installed a few software up dates in Parallels/Windows XP and saw the processor hit 176 degrees. Can anyone recommend a decent fan/cooling mat that will fit the AIR? I have one for my MacBook Pro that's unfortunately a little too large.
I want to calibrate my battery -- is there a recommended app for just chewing away to make the process faster? Do people just play movies over and over again?
