when I connect my macbook unibody with dvi to my dell monitor the quality of the screen is not as "good" as when I connect my windows pc to it. Is this only a problem on macbook, or is the mac mini the same?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just have ordered a new Mac Pro. But I'm not sure which display I should go for. The monitor should have the following strenghts:
1. Accurate colours (I love DSLR photography), really good overall picture quality
2. It should also be a good gaming monitor
I've already narrowed down my selection to the Dell U2410, Apple LED cinema 24", Dell U2711 or Apple LED cinemea 27" display.
I'm not sure if it's supposed to be like this, but whenever I try to make a DVD from a pre-recorded movie (either something from my HD camera or downloaded off the net), it literally takes 3 hours or more per DVD for it to finish burning. This is for something that is only 30 minutes in length. The picture is also sometimes out of sync with the sound and occasionally pixelates. Using a Mac Core 8, 3.0ghz, 10GB

With that said I listen to hip hop almost exclusively and love loud booming bass. I know ill get crap for saying this but I actually like the sound of Beats by Dre and I can get the studio model but those things leak sound like crazy, but as far as I've heard their bass is the strongest.

maybe its because I've been up until 3 in the morning the last couple days playing with Leopard. But I swear somewhere I saw a way to capture a screen as video.
I want to post a demo of the mosaic screen saver on my Livejournal.
And if there isn't anything built in. Anyone know any good, pref free, apps. I say free because I'll probably use this once.
Does anyone know of a good firefox add on that will capture a web page? Like page capture?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have been looking for a screen capture program for a little bit and i knew i saw a thread on this forum but i couldn't find it, so I'm gonna ask... Does any one know any free Screen Capturing software that saves the files with mp4, quicktime files.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIn Snow Leopard (and in Leopard before it), when you use the screen capture (to clipboard) key combination: SHIFT+(apple key)+Control+4 to capture part of the screen to the clipboard, it doesn't paste into many applications.
For example, using an OpenOffice document, the Edit...Paste menu is not highlighted (after doing a screen capture to clipboard), yet, I can paste the copied clipboard screen shot to Text Edit.
Since OpenOffice and other programs I've tried (including Thunderbird) do display graphics in their programs, why don't they accept the clipboard contents from the Mac screen capture program?
Thunderbird also will NOT accept a Mac screen shot clipboard "Paste".
What's going on here?
This lack of functionality breaks the idea of "cut and paste", which always works as expected in, gulp, Windows.
Snagit, for Windows, was wonderful, but I can't find anything to even come close for the Mac. (Of course, I'd be happy with just cut and paste working as expected for simple screen shots.)
I've been having a remarkably difficult time finding a "quick and easy" method of doing precise and/or easy screen captures from a DVD.
Things I've tried:
VLC: Works, but recent builds have been crashing like crazy when playing DVDs, so are nearly unusable for that. (Anybody else been experiencing this?) Also lacks the ability to capture a precise frame, since there are no "step forward/back" controls.
MPlayer OSX Extended: Left to its own devices, can't handle playback of many commercial DVDs--it stops playing at the first title change, so is useless. If I use FairMount to unprotect the DVD I can play the .VOB files directly with it, which is semi-functional, but it also lacks precision--no single-frame step commands, and if you do a screencap when it's paused you actually get a frame or two later. Also, this leaves you guessing what part is in what .VOB file, and it chokes badly on multi-angle video.
DVD Player + screencap app: This also works, but I really just want the DVD frame, so I end up having to manually crop out the window border, which is time consuming.
My goal is to come up with a smooth enough workflow I can do, say, a half-dozen screencaps from a bunch of titles quickly, so my primary goal is efficiency. (It's for movie reviews, so it's even completely legal under fair use, if probably anti-DMCA due to the stupid encryption loophole). Secondary is to include deinterlacing and being able to more precisely select a frame.
As I use the web I often use shift + apple + 3 or 4 to take screen captures of things I like and want to remember.
This saves the file to the desktop. Is there a way to change the save location?
Also I've been then adding the clippings to a PS file but this is getting to time consuming and dull to manage.
Is there a better option?
I do really like the way I dont have to use another application to take the screen shot but there is no management...
Does the new Quicktime capture on screen video with sound? If not is there a way to do it? Other good reliable programs out there that do what I am looking for?
I am trying to find an updated screen capture program (not video recording, just stills) that works well in Snow Leopard and will run OK in 64bit mode too. One of my favorite old programs from Windows was called "Hypersnap" and I would like to find something that good or better for the Mac. In that program you could do things like add highlights to the image, draw arrows or place clip art on the image too. After looking at Google, I just could not find anything like that, at least current for Snow Leopard use.
View 3 Replies View RelatedStarted archiving all my old photos and creating dvds. started off using iphoto which is great for compiling a quick slideshow to a couple of music tracks. i then imported these to idvd and created my first dvd project which i was pretty pleased with for a first attempt. The only thing i found annoying was that i could not link all the slideshows together in idvd so that they played one after another, instead you had to come back to the menu and start the next one...so i thought i would import these slideshow movies into imovie and create a complete movie with chapters, titles etc. but when i did this i noticed that the quality of the slideshow in imovie was very noticeably worse.
being new to mac i wasnt sure what was up so i thought about importing the photos directly into imovie and working with them there. but once again the quality was really poor compared to the iphoto and idvd slideshows. after this i though maybe its just a preview problem and all will be well when i burn them to dvd and watch them on tv...so i burnt a dvd with one slideshow created in iphoto and imported into idvd and also put on a movie of the same slide show that id imported into imovie and back.
anyway long story short quality still better in slide show created in iphoto.
is there any way to export the movie as high as my project quality everytime i export the quality goes down.

View 5 Replies View RelatedThis is unnerving. At random intervals, my screen flashes. It more like "winks" - as though a screen capture was being made. Actually, when you make a real screen capture, the screen doesn't wink, but that's the impression I get. The screen doesn't flicker or flash like it's a hardware bad connection, but goes through a fast, but continuous normal-white-normal cycle. I'm looking at my activity monitor to see if something is unusual, but I can't tell. Everything I look up seems to be real.
