MacBook Air :: Rev B Will Get As Good A Screen As Rev A?
Jan 24, 2009
I am starting to wonder if Apple will ever 'fix' or upgrade the screen(s) in Rev B to the same level as rev A or if this screen is something we have to accept when we buy a MBA?
Cant make up my mind whether to buy the Rev B or not due to the screen. a last gen MBP glossy has a better screen as far as I have seen.
I am planning to order the air so I won't be able to check out the screen as I ll be having it shipped to me, so I was wandering, is it worth the risk due to the screen problems or should I play it safe with a mbp? Have apple started releasing screens with marked improvements or are we still seeing the problems with lines of the earlier batches.
some times the screen goes black unexpectedly and if I move the screen it goes back to its noramal condition ! I went to the apple store and they said that it is for the connector of LCD what can I fix this problem ? do you know anything about the technology of this macbook's LCDs ?! can I fix it by myself ?!
I am a home theatre enthusiast, and I have setup Plex, Boxee, Netflix, Hulu, Front Row and Etc. The menus and interfaces are absolutely stunning and the customization of them are endless. So now I have this 27in LED iMac with greater than 1080p Resolution and these Apps look great but I want the content to look as good as the menus. Aside from the iTunes pseudo (low frame rate) HD, does anyone have any suggestions of a resource for "stunning" video content to match my beautiful 27in screen. It sure would have been nice to have a Blu Ray option. Hopefully the "bag of hurt" will soon be sitting on my desk killing me with pain.
when I connect my macbook unibody with dvi to my dell monitor the quality of the screen is not as "good" as when I connect my windows pc to it. Is this only a problem on macbook, or is the mac mini the same?
I am upgrading my MBP first gen unibody to an SSD drive. I just read that we should not clone an existing HDD to a SSD. The author did not give a reason why. So, my question is: will cloning my current HDD to a new SSD (using Super Duper) adversely affect the SSD performance? My initial plan for upgrading before reading this article was to clone my HDD to a new SSD in an enclosure (using Super Duper), then install the SSD. I thought this would save me a lot of effort restoring everything from scratch.
Installed a few software up dates in Parallels/Windows XP and saw the processor hit 176 degrees. Can anyone recommend a decent fan/cooling mat that will fit the AIR? I have one for my MacBook Pro that's unfortunately a little too large.
I want to calibrate my battery -- is there a recommended app for just chewing away to make the process faster? Do people just play movies over and over again?
I have a new Bamboo Capture Wacom tablet. I also have a Macbook Pro 13". What I want to do is find an app to take notes in. I know there are apps that change handwriting to editible text, I don't want that. I just want to be able to write and be able to save my notes (in my handwriting). I repeat, I DO NOT want to use a handwriting recognition software.
Info: MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.3), Bamboo Capture Wacom Tablet
I want to pair my MBP (high res antiglare) with a 24" monitor. The colour levels on the MBP are really good and I'm a little worried about buying a monitor and setting them up side by side and not having the two match in terms of quality.
Can anyone recommend a good monitor that is of equal quality to the MBP antiglare screens? I've read good things about the Dell ST2410 which is within my budget.... if really pushed I could go for the U2410 but would really rather not spend that much. Are there any other monitors that are cheaper than the U2410 that have 'mac mode'?
I am looking for a good quality replacement battery for my MBP. Battery model is a1281. There are literally hundreds available, but which ones are a good quality piece? Any info or links to the one you guys bought would be awesome. Also, is the original battery a 4600mAh or a 5200mAh? Ive seen both listed as the same a1281 battery.
Im a little confused, is the Air Battery life that good? I've taken the following claims from the Apple website. MacBook Air - Get up to 5 hours of battery life on a single charge on the 11-inch model and up to 7 hours on the 13-inch model. 13" MacBook Pro - The new energy-efficient architecture in the 13-inch MacBook Pro gives you up to 10 hours of battery life on a single charge. I understand that Steve Jobs advised that they were using a better way to measure battery life for the Air that reflect real world usage better (WiFi Browsing I think?) so how does this compare to the MBP range? I guess the MBP battery claims were made using another older method, so any thoughts on how the Air's battery life compares to other PC's and Mac's?
I'm looking to get a good form-fitting padded sleeve for the New MacBook Air 13". I care little about space on the bag for other items, but more for something that doesn't add much size to the machine itself when carried. Some good suggestions for the 11" here, but anybody have opinions on 13" designs?
What temperature is good for your macbook to run at. I'm usually always around 135-145 degrees. I have smc fan control, and i am running my fan at 3600rpm's please let me know what you think about the subject.
I just bought a Macbook last week. I realized after i put alot of stuff on the macbook 120GB isn't enough space. I want some suggestions for a good HD up to probally 200-300GB with 7200RPM. I Prefer less noise, heat, and less suction of battery life.
I have been looking for a good case for my 13" Uni. I was thinking incase. I would like a case I could put in a bag or carry around. Any suggestions? If not incase how is Swiss Army stuff?
SSD drives in Macbook: are they good, or low end and/or slow? Like, how do they compare to say the Corsair P128/P256? Are they worth it in the refurb models of the 13" Macbooks?
I recently had my MBP replaced due to screen flickering. The new hardware is exactly the same as the previous hardware (3.06, 4GB, 7200RPM 500GB). My question is - is it ok just to swap the hard drive from the old machine and put it into the new machine? I'm not sure how things like color profiles, permissions will be affected. I know it will work, but not sure if it is recommended... Thoughts?
I'm still debating whether I should get a 27" iMac or an external monitor for my Macbook Pro. I would get this external screen : [URL]. Any thoughts on that? It's an IPS screen so colours should be very good. Alternative is an Apple Cinema Display which costs about double but I'm not sure it's worth the price premium over the NEC display.
I love the iMac 27" but all the screen problems really scare me away, since I mainly do photo work on my Macbook Pro which is why I need a good, high res screen.
I'm a dutch photographer (don't mind my english) considering switching from pc to mac. What is holding me is I think its quite an investment buying a MBP and a Mac Pro at the same time. I was wondering.........because I also need a notebook......would an MBP also do the job doing all the processing of Photoshop? (It still needs to go very smooth like on a desktop so no hicks during any actions.) If so...then I could first buy a MBP and later on a Mac Pro. I definately need the notebook on location.
Last week I ordered my Macbook Pro with the 2.4 Ghz cpu and I was quite sure the cpu will do the application. But now I've read some threads about Logic Studio, where people say that Logic supports Hyperthreading and therefore I doubt that my macbook will last for the next years. Maybe a better cpu will last longer.
The problem is that I cannot cancel my order anymore .
What do you think about the cpu's in reference to Logic and what would you do?
