Some apps consistently crash on system restore

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6.8)
I'm on latest update of Snow Leopard and ever since I started working with mBOX (sound interface) and ProTools, my osx crashes frequently when quitting apps. My guess it's something to do with the sound card (the internal one). When I quit an app , the screen becomes green and it says in a couple of different languages that I have to turn off the computer by holding down the power button.
Then when I do that and then restart my computer, when booted it says 'You shut down the computer because of a problem'. In the report I always find that the problem layed with the app I quit.
It's not a particular app, I've had it with Quicktime, VLC, iTunes, LittleSnitch, SoundSource, Chrome, etc...
PS: I'm running on MacbookPro, 15" 2.4 GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, Mac OSX 10.6.2
Can you tell me how to do system restore on mac
View 4 Replies View RelatedI want to perform a full system restore from Time Machine because the last updates killed the scan ability of my Samsung SCX4500 printer. Can i do a system restore without deleting all my recent files (i mean the files i created AFTER the date chosen for the restore on TM)?

I've been reading a great deal in this forum regarding the issue in the subject line of this post. But it all has to do with 10.6.8 Snow Leopard. My 10.5.8 on my system has not been updated in any way for a while. So how is it that in the last couple of weeks all of my Power PC apps still on board, are going through this crash on start up routine. If I select 'relaunch' from the dialogue window that pops up upon the intial crash, the app will run fairly normally. This can't be about a security update like with Snow Leopard.

Time Machine starts to restore iTunes and then says I don't have sufficient privalages and quits restore. I am the sole user of this computer.

Vertical lines are displayed consistently on desktop and software apps. How do you remove them?

Leopard 10.5.8 to Snow Leopard (10.6 and 10.6.2) since then, most of the Adobe CS3 crash at launch (Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash) some others (Indesign, Flash VE) lost their SN.
Am unable to uninstall and make a new install of CS3, installer said:
System Requirements Error. This software cannot be install because the file system of the OS volume is not supported.
I download then Photoshop CS4 Trial from Adobe. It says too:
System Requirements Error. This software cannot be install because the file system of the OS volume is not supported. The OS volume should be local, writable and should have non-sensitive file system.
I am running snowleopard on my imac with version 10.6.8 My problem is as soon as I login- it kicks me straight off again back to the login screen.I have 4 other different login users and they work perfectly however my one does not.Â

I am on a brand new 3.06 GHz iMac. Installed Snow Leopard, 10.6.1. In general I don't experience any of the problems other people seem to have. But twice now my screen has turned blue while I am in the middle of something. All the open apps disappear and the Finder seems to relaunch. It only takes a few seconds. I don't have steps to reproduce it. Both times I had several apps open and had video/DVD running in the background.
Has anybody seen this?
I am a notorious file-saver which means I haven't lost much work through this but if it keeps happening I might have to go back to Leopard.
I have a 2.8ghz macbook pro running leopard and after finally downloading the latest software update bringing me to 10.5.8 I feel it's running hotter nearly all the time.when simply using garageband, my MBP never usually ran hotter than 125 F, but after the update it runs at 180 constantly in garageband. could the update have done anything to make this happen, it's the only change I can think of
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having problems with programs automatically shutting down when I try to open them. The problems are with ITunes and Skype. I know that Skype is an internet program, and this might be a problem, but I never had this happen before... EVER. iTunes only starts up half way, then it brings up an error box.
I had no problems until I updated in Feburary. Can I uninstall the last update and restore to the old one?

My older model MacBook Pro has been crashing quite frequently (2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo runming OS X 10.6.8).I took it into the Apple store today and they said the culprit is my failing hard drive. It's not my original hard drive as I had a larger one installed some time ago. I did not have it installed at an Apple store but rather at an authorized third party store. The Genius Bar employtee today told me that if it's within a year of purchase, that third party store will most likely replace it under warranty. Unfortunately I am not currently in the city where this store is but I will call them today to see when it was that I purchased the drive. If it's been over a year, I want to tell them that these crashes did not start today but several months ago. we can go by the date of the first crashes as opposed to today's date as perhaps that will fall within the 12 month rule. However, when I look in the CrashReporter or DiagnosticReport folders in the Library and Logs folders, I'm only finding the most recent crashes. Are older crashed saved and accessable someplace else?

I've been having a problem with Firefox crashing recently. On Mozilla's forum, someone suggested that corrupted fonts can cause apps to crash. I opened Font Book to check on this. I was able to find and disable one font that Font Book listed as corrupted. However, there's another font that I think is corrupted but can't do anything about. Just clicking on the font in the Font Book window causes Font Book itself to crash! Is there any other way to disable this font (matura management capitals)? Can I just delete it from the Font folder in finder?

I have my drive partitioned between Tiger and Snow Leopard. I am trying to move myself over to Snow Leopard so I don't have to keep switching. The problem is that my old apps that alledgedly will work in SL, give me an error box when I launch them. It happens with Appleworks 6 and Quicken 2007. I've installed Rosetta but don't know what else to do.When I launch either application, it says it unexpectedly quit and gives this info:Â Process: [code]

View 2 Replies View RelatedCan't figure out whats going wrong here. Installed SL when i came out, been fine up until a couple of days ago when I tried to resize my Bootcamp partition in disk utility. Not sure if I personally did something wrong or if it just failed while I was resizing, but it never finished. I was done with school and therefore Bootcamp so I've left it alone but ever since then I've been having weird problems with all of my other apps. When I click on the menu bar, whichever app is running crashes and I get the crash report. I popped in the SL disk and repaired the drive via disk utility but its still the same. It did say that one folder was modified and would not be repaired. I can run it again to find out if you think its important. So any ideas of what might be causing my menu bar to be bezerk? The only thread I was able to find was back with someone using Tiger who ultimately had to reinstall the OS.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe hard drive in my MacBook died, and I replaced it with a new one. I'm trying to restore everything from Time Machine. First thing I did after installing the hard drive was boot from the OSX DVD and format the drive GUID and Mac OS X Journalized. I then selected to restore from Time Machine from the Utilities menu. It detected my backup, but it did not detect the new empty hard drive to allow me to restore it to (It did however, detect the other partition I have on my external drive).
I thought it wouldn't let me restore directly from the Time Machine backup because the drive did not have OSX on it. So I clean installed OSX onto the drive, and now the migration assistant is restoring from my Time Machine backup. Why was it not allowing me to restore from the backup? Is this how it's supposed to be done?
I suspect that this migration assistant restore isn't the same as restoring from the Time Machine backup after booting from the DVD. Would I have to reinstall OSX updates again?
It's also taking an extremely long time to transfer; it estimated about 35 GB to copy and it says about 14 hours remaining. It might be because it's a first gen MacBook that only supports SATA, and I'm using a SATAII hard drive, but I don't really think that should matter. I want to cancel this and try restoring from the Time Machine backup directly if that would make it go faster, but there is no cancel button. If I manually shut it down, would it cause damage?
I really need to now how can I uninstall apps on mac

While using Adobe CC (Photoshop or Lightroom so far) all the applications freeze for a second, and then crash AT ONCE (Finder, adobe, skype - everything), then grey screen, then everything starts loading up from scratch (drivers, apps, Finder etc.)
It happened three times in two days. Â
I checked the console after the crash and got A LOT (about 4000) errors like this (all have the same time-stamp):Â Â

Originally I had directly cloned my black mb running 10.5 to my new 13 inch unibody MBP that had a new blank internal HD put in. I thought it worked perfectly, but I guess because of driver issues, it would freeze up a lot so everyone told me I needed a fresh install.
Before I got rid of the old macbook, I made a time machine backup to a WD external, as well as a carbon copy backup (saved a spareimage).
Restarting my mac after a crash in Lion (of which there are many) takes an extemely long time. This is most likely due to restoring all applications/docs/etc after a crash to the state just prior to crashing- a new feature in Lion. Is there any way to disable this feature?

Up until a recent update, software update was working. Now it just crashes. I've tried deleting the Pref's and downloading updates directly, but that hasn't helped.

Is this going to be a problem when up grading?
Anyone know of any?
I thought this deserves a new thread as the other thread is getting a bit of a mess.
I found this great site that shows your apps compatibility with snow leopard:
[URL]
Last night I installed the new Snow Leopard hoping to see an improvement in some of the programs I use (Photoshop, LR, Flash, AE etc) but I dont think any of these programs other than Safari, Finder and all those built-in applications in OSX benefited from this new 64-bit code, at least I havent seen any improvements in fact I went and checked the Activity Monitor and I dont see the 64-bit in any of these programs.
Was this supposed to benefit all programs speed wise or the program itself should be 64-bit compatible?
Today I have had a ton of apps crash randomly in SL. Safari, Firefox, preview, mindmanager, pages have all crashed numerous times. Is it just me or are other people having reliability problems. I know apps crash but I have never really had a problem with it on other versions of osx...
