Loose Internet connection every time IMac goes to sleep or restarts. It started when I upgraded to Lion and now is worse in Mountain Lion

Each and everytime I put my Macbook Air 11 to sleep, it loses internet connection and I have to go into the Wi-Fi panel to rejoin my home network. Â It's quite annoying because I like to close my MacBook and hide it in the television cabinet when it's not in use. The first time I encountered this problem was when I left the MBA for an hour to download some big files, only to open it back up and find the download had not moved at all since I closed it. Â

I installed my Pioneer Bluray drive in the second optical bay on my Mac Pro 2010. It works fine but when computer has been on for a little while it has lost connection with the drive entirely. I'm not sure when exactly. I mostly notice it when I try to open the tray and get no response. When i check in Toast, the app freezes due to the faulty connection and when checking for it on the computer info it's not there anymore. Anyone know why this is? One possibility I can imagine is a sleep/wake issue where this connection is somehow lost, but I never put the computer to sleep so this can't be it. I would hate to remove the Bluray drive entirely, but maybe I can switch places?
View 1 Replies View RelatedEver since I updated from 10.5.6 to 10.5.7, I'm now loosing my Apple wireless keyboard and mighty mouse bluetooth connection with my MacBook Pro. At least once a day, my keyboard and mouse both loose connection. There is no lag going on before it happens, it just happens suddenly. I can get connection back to both my mouse and keyboard by simply using the trackpad to turn bluetooth off then on again from the menu bar. Up until last week this was happening on my 17"/2.6GHz/4GB previous gen MacBook Pro. I have now sold that and as I'm sitting here setting up my new 17" uMBP, I just lost keyboard and mouse connection. Grrr. Obviously it's not my machine and obviously it's not my keyboard or mouse as they both loose connection at the same time - it's 10.5.7 I'm using airport wireless 'n' 5GHz only. I also have bluetooth enabled on my iPhone, but always have - and never had issues when running 10.5.6 (or earlier). I have searched here but haven't found anyone else mention this exact problem. Strange. I would have thought that it would be common now that I've experienced it with two MacBook Pro's running 10.5.7. Can I go back to 10.5.6 somehow without having to rebuild?

I'm on holiday using my mobile phone (Nokia N80) to connect to the Internet over GPRS / EDGE / UMTS. Everything works like a charm, but often the Internet Connect applet drops the connection and just hangs disconnecting.
I'm running OS X 10.4.7 on a 17" Macbook pro, but I have the same result on a iBook G4, same OS X version, and even trying with a different mobile phone (Nokia 6600) and different network service provider.
Can't get internet connection

I know there are a lot of similar threads all around different forums, but nothing really helped and I was hoping some of you smart ladies/guys can help solve this issue once and for all.
Here's the deal:
My main desktop computer (Compaq windows XP computer) is set-up upstairs where the cable router and linksys wireless router are placed (which is right next to the desktop on the desk). My Macbook (running Tiger and is 3 years old) and iMac (running Leopard and is not even 1 year old yet) are set-up downstairs in my new office. This room is in the basement, however the room is almost directly above the main office where the wired desktop computer resides.
Prior to setting up my office downstairs, my sister lived with my family in the basement and had her windows Vista laptop set-up without any internet connection issues. Her internet never dropped on her laptop, and neither did the connection on her wireless all-in-one printer/scanner/copier. Cell phone reception/internet connection in the basement is also great.
When I set up my iMac and Macbook however a few weeks ago, the internet keeps dropping connection! I do not understand this when my sister had no problems at all with her laptop getting internet connection, when she was living with us. The internet connection will stay good for either 10-30 minutes and then drop, or it could be good for up to an hour and then drop.
I've had my MBP 13 inch (base model) for less than 4 months and I've been experiencing crazy dropped internet connection, both at my house and at my dorm. At my home, I have a 2WIRE portal modem and it drops at least 10-12 times a day and the only way I can reconnect is if I turn Airport Off and On. Same situation at my dorm , only thing is that I connect via wirelessly. Anyone have a solution to make this annoying dropping go away? My roommate has a Windows Vista Laptop (Gateway) and He has perfect connection and can play WoW and COD4 without lag or disconnection. My Windows XP Desktop (eMachine) and My Windows Vista PC (Dell Inspirion) are running on the same portal at home and they both are connected perfectly.
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy wireless internet connection is "shotty". The desktop that it is connected to works fine, however, for the last few days my MacBook has been having trouble. The connection will just hang. I can click on the "wireless icon" in the upper right, click "Open Network Preferences" and then click "Assist Me" then "Diagnostics..." and run that. It will pick it back up and say it is connected. It will work for a good 10 minutes, then I have to repeat the process. I have restarted my MacBook as well as restarted the "box". Any ideas? My TV runs via the internet (U-Verse) and it never hangs or freezes when my MacBook does, also the desktop was working fine at the same time as the TV was working fine but my MacBook was hanging. Also my old Compaq hangs as well. I think the TV is wireless too? The box is in a different room, but like I said it never freezes.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought my first mac in February 2012. Ever since the beginning the Internet connection is always dropped. I have to click the wifi logo in the upper right hand corner and click turn wifi-off. I can immediately turn it back on and immediately the connection is fine again.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy notebook is about to arrive and I'm trying to learn how to connect two macs to a single internet connection. I'm starting from scratch, really -- I'm learning what a router / switch / ethernet are! Ideally, it would be nice if I could keep my existing cable connection to my Imac and install a wireless connection to my notebook. But I don't know if it is possible and how to do that. I've not found clear advices on such installation, yet. Also, since I'll move in June, I searching for the cheapest solution.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've been having issues with my wireless. I use my home wireless network as my primary internet connection. I've noticed that I'll be using it without any problems, and then suddenly I notice pages arent loading (or if i'm playing WoW, huge lag spike.) The only way to get it going normal again is to turn the airport off and back on, and let it reconnect. Sometimes that fixes it for the rest of the day, other times I have to do that every 30 minutes. It just depends. I found [URL] but that doesn't seem to be the issue at hand, because my signal never drops, the connection just dies. Anyway of a fix? It's a pain in the ass to have to always turn my wifi on and off.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am sharing the wifi connection from my MBP to my desktop since I haven't run a wire or set up wireless yet. It works, but every minute or two the Limited or No Connectivity icon appears, and for a few seconds, the desktop is offline. After a few seconds, it works again. This has happened with the desktop running both XP and Linux, so I don't think it's an OS issue. The wifi connection on my MBP is rock solid, and it always works just fine whether or not the desktop can connect.

I work in the oil and gas industry in Alberta and stay at camps often..When I connect the same laptop there my torrent download speed is terrible (10-15kb's/sec) even though downloads are permitted and many of the pc laptop users don't have a problem with the speeds. Primarily use vuze but have tried a few other torrent downloaders..Is there something within my computer settings or downloader settings that slowing me down and if so could you provide any advice on how to over come this.

I am using a MacBook Air 11" (mid-2012) running OS X Mavericks (10.9.3). I'm connecting to my home LAN via WiFi connection to a TP-Link 300M Wireless router that is setup as a switch (per instructions here [URL] ...., which in turn is connected via wire (ethernet-over-power) to a Technicolor cable modem/router provided by my ISP (UPC in the Netherlands; I can look up the model number of the router if needed, but it's two floors down right now and doesn't strike me that this is the cause of the problem).Â
I have a problem that my MacBook Air intermittently loses connectivity to the internet for extended periods (minutes) even though (a) the MacBook Air maintains full connectivity to my LAN at the same time through WiFi and (b) other computers connected to the cable modem/router maintain their connection to the internet while my MacBook Air has lost its connection. Â
My test to see where the breakdown is occurring is to have four terminal windows up and running ping processes:Â
1) ping to 192.168.0.1 (my router) - this always stays live, with essentially no lost packets
2) ping to an external address (I'm using 74.125.136.94, a google.nl address) - this is my main test for access to the internet and where I see ping failures (I'm also testing with pings to other sites when the problem is occurring to ensure it's not something on the remote end).
3) ping to 192.168.0.13, which is a Synology NAS attached via ethernet cable to my main cable modem/router - this always stays live, with essentially no lost packets.
4) a login to the Synology NAS, where I am also running a continual ping to 74.125.136.94, and this external ping does NOT fail when the one from my MacBook Air does, it stays live with essentially no lost packets.Â
The problem will usually correct itself after 1-3 minutes (though the time is not consistent), and also gets corrected if I turn the MacBook Air's WiFi off and on again.Â

I am connected to the office network via a router (WiFi). My internet connection has been working fine for the past 8 months and now all of a sudden, I can't stay connected for more than 3 minutes. I have tried deleted the network name and re-connecting it but still no joy.

I have a mid 2010 macbook pro. I recently had to get a new hard drive and the guys at the Apple store went ahead and updates my software to mavericks. I hadmt had any problems for over a month. However, I've started having a problem with connecting wirelessly. Whenever I first open my laptop, it starts to connect to wifi, but comes up with the ! symbol. I know it's not the wifi because all my other devices haven't had a problem and it's been happening on my home and college wifi. At school, I'm able to just turn off airport and turn it back on to get a connection. However, if I do this at home, it initially connects (it shows signal and I'm able to load pages) but drops within a couple minutes. If I turn my router off and on, it connects.

Just got a new MacBook Pro a few months ago. Migrated everything successfully from my old MBPro. Now, however, when I wake my computer each morning, it can't connect to the internet. It shows that my wifi is connected, but when I try to get mail or use Safari/Firefox/Chrome, it just spins until it tells me I have no internet connection. I then have to restart the computer and it works fine after that.Â
The fact that it works fine after restarting tells me it's something other than my wifi or my cable modem.Â
I'm running 10.9.3. Using 'Automatic' location.Â
I'm having a problem maintaining my internet connection. Every so often (~15mins) my computer loses its connection without warning. I have an old MacBook running OS X 10.6.8.Â
The problem started yesterday when I lost connection. Going into network diagnostics everything was green as far as ISP - Internet and Server were the only ones failing. Restarting the router/laptop did nothing, and no-one else using the router had any connection problems. Eventually, the problem was "solved" by renewing the DHCP Lease, except that now the connection drops. It can be restored by going through the Diagnostics and is usually fixed when I reselect my network, whereupon it works fine for a while before being lost, which I usually discover when trying to load a page.Â
I have tried restarting the router and laptop, I have tried renewing the DHCP Lease again. Once again I'm the only one on the router experiencing connection issues.Â
