I use the computer for music production
How big do you think the difference is between the high-end 11.6'' C2D 1.6 mHz and the low end 13.3'' C2D 1.86 mHz...?
1. There is obviously a difference of 286 mHz clock speed
2. But how big is the impact of lower FSB and half L2 cache in the 11.6 compared to 13.3?
I have a powermac g4 AGP (single 450mhz processor). will this computer support dual processors, such as a dual 500mhz? If so, which processors from which computer model(s) can i use? like can i put a dual 500 from a Gigabit Ethernet mac in the AGP mac?

I recently purchased a Mac Pro and it's awesome. BUT I wanted to know is it possible to swap out the processors for maybe 2 quad cores or even 2 3.0 GHz processors and if so, how would you do it? Is this possible? (pictures of the motherboard are attached)

With the Introduction of Civilization V for the Mac and its huge need for power. Now i'm not gonna attempt to try to play this game. But I downloaded Ship Simulator Extreme on my windows partition. Now on Steam it has the system requirements.
OS: Windows XP (Min. service pack 2), Windows Vista or Windows 7. 32 and 64 bits OS supported
Processor: 3 Ghz P4 Intel or AMD equivalent processor
Memory: 2GB (Windows XP) or 3GB (Vista or Windows 7)

Video Card: Geforce 8800GT or ATI Radeon 4850 with 256MB ram (At least Shader model 3.0)
Sound: DirectX compatible
DirectX: 9.0c
I have a MacBook Aluminium, Intel Core 2 Due 2.0GHz with 2GB Ram and NVIDIA 9400M. The game plays incredibly slowly and keeps jumping, like the refresh rate is so slow. I have downloaded the latest driver from NVIDIA but still it plays slow. Is my problem here the lack of RAM and I have a dual core processor which is above the requirements? I thought the good video card and processor would be enough? A lot of games seem to have minimum requirements much more than my mac, its not ever that old and seems outdated already.
I wanted to do some research on this processor, do you guys know what is the processor model code for the iMac's processor?
Is it a mobile processor or a desktop processor?
What is the difference between this one and this one?
I'm looking at second hand 2009 quad mac pros. I'm not sure if 2.66 has a massive disadvantage over the 2.93. The thing is, I'm buying this for quite a long run (I work with audio/ Logic pro). I'm thinking that the 2.93 will be more future proof? Does anyone have any experience with the two?

I need a word processor for Snow Leopard that will read and write to the .doc and .rtf formats. I had NeoOffice but it is basically far from ready for prime time. It will not format picture inserts properly and dropped two out of three pages of my document when I saved it. Yes, I did have the Snow Leopard upgrade for it.

Are there any web browser experts out there, who have formed any opinions about the new browser yet ?
I'm going to eventually buy a reburb white Macbook and I am contemplating between the 2.1GHz and the 2.4. As far as the ram and hdd are concerned, I plan on putting a bigger drive in and upping the ram to 4gb, so the only difference left is the .3Ghz.
The money saved by going with a 2.1 would just about cover the 4gb and a good 320GB HDD.
My plans for this laptop are: surfing, some work in Windows (thus the ram), itunes, iweb, iphoto... no gaming planned, I'm just not a gamer.
I plan on purchasing an iMac in the next couple days and was wondering is USB 3.0 really important? Will there be some type of way us current 2.0 users get 3.0?
View 19 Replies View RelatedI understand that some of the early core 2 duo's are different than the current core 2 duo's being used in the current 13" MBP's. I understand that some are T8000 series or T9000 series (I think??).
My question really is what is the difference between the earleir C2D's used and the current ones. Some of the earlier ones seem to have more L2 cache, do the newer ones run on a lower voltage? Have a different chip? Are quicker/slower?
Has anyone tried to upgrade their old iMac G5 with a new Intel core Duo processor? If so how do I go about installing one?
View 6 Replies View RelatedWould there be any problems cloning the SSD of a 13" MacBook Pro over to the SSD of an 11" MacBook Air?
The SSD is a 240GB OWC (only 80GB used) and I'm getting the 128GB MBA.
Are there issues cloning and transferring between different systems?
So I still haven't decided on which air I want yet.
If I go for the 11.6in, is the upgrade from 1.4GHz to 1.6GHz worth $100?
It seems very minimal to me but I'd like some thoughts.
I was just curious what the main differences were between the applications Deeper and Onyx? Onyx seems to be the same thing, with a few more features. Is there something that Deeper can do, that Onyx can't?
Also one more random question.. does Transparent Dock work on OS X 10.4.9, and does it allow you to change the color like Cleardock?
Voodoo:
2 USB, 1 Express Slot, Wireless Hub Power Brick
Removable Battery
Instant-On OS
MacBook Air:
Runs OS X
I really can't think of much more than that for the Air. I love OS X and thats why I haven't bought either. Mind you this is ignoring that Apple may release an update soon for the MBA cause if they do then I have my answer. But if they don't I don't know which I want! I love aluminum, but I am not a fan of the rounded corners apple put on the MBA.
The only difference I see is Dreamweaver edits your site locally and Contribute edits off the server.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just have a quick question. I'm ordering a Macbook Pro this weekend and saw that one had a little beefier 512 MB of RAM instead of 256 dedicated for the graphics card.
I really hope Starcraft 2 isn't too graphic intensive and that the 256 would be enough to handle it. That's really the only game I plan on buying to play on here.
I listened to a few U2 songs encoded with AAC and Apple Lossless. Listening through the standard ipod ear buds, I honestly could not tell the difference.
Has anyone been able to notice a discernible improvement with Lossless? If so, what type of music/speakers were you using?
I plan on purchasing the new Mac mini, I'm wondering if it's worth my money to get a 2.66GHz processor?
Also, in checkout I'm able to upgrade to 4GB of RAM for only $90, is there anywhere cheaper? Or that's about as low as it goes?
I've got a G5 DP with the infamous white noise problem coming through my speakers that was only fixed after downloading the chud tools and disabling the NAP settings - does anyone know if I'll have the same issues if I install Leopard? Want to upgrade but don't want to waste my money if the noise comes back and I can't get it to work. Also, I'm using an m-audio firewire 410 that doesn't have drivers yet; has anyone used the Tiger drivers with success on Leopard?
So I recently went to best buy and I noticed that the macbook with a core 2 duo processor had 2.4 ghz and my 13 inch macbook pro i5 processor has 2.3 ghz. How come the macbook is faster then my 2011 macbook pro? Is there something different about the processors that makes my mac's processor better even though it says 2.4?
