I have a powermac g4 AGP (single 450mhz processor). will this computer support dual processors, such as a dual 500mhz? If so, which processors from which computer model(s) can i use? like can i put a dual 500 from a Gigabit Ethernet mac in the AGP mac?
I've been looking around for an additional gigabit ethernet card for my single 1.8 G5 processor. I've read many of the postings but they relate to the 1.8 dual processor with pci-x. I only have pci slots (4 ram slot model - late 2004 revision) and am stumped.
The DGE-528T looked like it may work, then I read it hasnt been confirmed as working for the G5 sinle processor as of yet.
The next card that may work is the Intel PRO/1000MT.
Information: Single processor G5 Mac OS X (10.3.9)
Is it possible to update my Dual 2GHz PowerPC G5 to an Intel or other processor? Of course, I'm finding that my machine is not being supported by software developers anymore?I'm running 10.5.8 on my Power Mac (June 2004).
I recently purchased a Mac Pro and it's awesome. BUT I wanted to know is it possible to swap out the processors for maybe 2 quad cores or even 2 3.0 GHz processors and if so, how would you do it? Is this possible? (pictures of the motherboard are attached)
With the Introduction of Civilization V for the Mac and its huge need for power. Now i'm not gonna attempt to try to play this game. But I downloaded Ship Simulator Extreme on my windows partition. Now on Steam it has the system requirements.
OS: Windows XP (Min. service pack 2), Windows Vista or Windows 7. 32 and 64 bits OS supported Processor: 3 Ghz P4 Intel or AMD equivalent processor Memory: 2GB (Windows XP) or 3GB (Vista or Windows 7) Hard Disk Space: 3.5 GB Video Card: Geforce 8800GT or ATI Radeon 4850 with 256MB ram (At least Shader model 3.0) Sound: DirectX compatible DirectX: 9.0c
I have a MacBook Aluminium, Intel Core 2 Due 2.0GHz with 2GB Ram and NVIDIA 9400M. The game plays incredibly slowly and keeps jumping, like the refresh rate is so slow. I have downloaded the latest driver from NVIDIA but still it plays slow. Is my problem here the lack of RAM and I have a dual core processor which is above the requirements? I thought the good video card and processor would be enough? A lot of games seem to have minimum requirements much more than my mac, its not ever that old and seems outdated already.
i have a blue and white g3. it has a slow 400mhz processor and 640mb ram. i would like to upgrade this machine to something i can use for daily tasks. websurfing, music, videos, etc.i was thinking motherboard and processor from a g4 or g5?
I just recently switched to Mac and was given a Power Mac G4 (CPU type PowerPC G4 - 2.9). I would like to upgrade and replace the processor. Is this a possibility or would it make more sense to buy a new computer?
The 2011 macbook pro with i7 processor will not power up or charge at all. The problem started after my battery ran out and the computer shut down. Since then, when I plug in the charger only the green light turns on. In addition the light on the base (in front of the keyboard) flashes. Nothing happens when I hit the power button. The charger still works on other laptops. To emphasize, the screen will not even light up. It sounds as if the computer is starting (for less than a second) before stopping, only to start again but that is purely speculative.
I recently obtained a (free) Power Mac G4 (Dual 500Mhz, AGP, Gigabit Ethernet) I am looking to upgrade the processor and video. Can anyone advise on what video card would work on this machine? Do I have to go with a Mac edition AGP card (ATI Radeon X800 Pro Mac Edition) or can I use any (PC) AGP card, for example the Radeon HD 4000 or Geforce 7 series?
I am perfectly happy with my MBA, but I must admit that I like to always have the "latest and greatest". The new MacBooks look great, although I haven't seen one "live" or had the opportunity to get hands on with one yet. If I buy a new MacBook, I give up the form factor, but gain the processor power, features, etc. Also, it will really feel like a new computer because of the different appearance. Since I like the MBA form factor, I was thinking of just upgrading to that. The problem is that it won't even feel like I got a new laptop, because visually it would be identical to the one I have now. In fact, the reduced battery life may not offset the benefit of larger HD and improved graphics. Dying for a new laptop though... what are you other MBA owners thinking?
ive got a macbook aluminum but my mums pc has crashed so since my switch over to apple i have been over impressed with the stability of mac computers.to cut a long story short i have had some great feedback from this site so wondering if you guys can help.ive seen a 17inch imac g5 1.8ghz ppc processor..and is it possible to run most streaming internet sites like youtube!! bbc iplayer. etc etc..and also can it run windows 7 so she can play some chinese games via flash...??

I have a Power Mac G5 2.0 GHZ 1 TB and 250GB Hard Drive, 4 GB of Ram Running 10.5.8 Leopard. Now i bougth this mac on ebay to EDIT VIDEOS AND PICTURES. BUT, i cant do either because all the editing software requires snow leopard or higher. the Mac doesnt even have I Movie, Garage Band. To get any sort of editing software i need snow leopard. To get snow leopard i have to have an Intel Based Processor MINE ISN'T INTEL. So pretty much i have NO WAYS to edit or create videos.
Info: PowerMac, Mac OS X (10.5.8), 2.0 GHZ, 1.2 TB.
I've got a G5 DP with the infamous white noise problem coming through my speakers that was only fixed after downloading the chud tools and disabling the NAP settings - does anyone know if I'll have the same issues if I install Leopard? Want to upgrade but don't want to waste my money if the noise comes back and I can't get it to work. Also, I'm using an m-audio firewire 410 that doesn't have drivers yet; has anyone used the Tiger drivers with success on Leopard?
I have a PowerMac G5 single processor. I went out to the Apple store and they sold me this new graphics card.(PCI x) They insured me that it would work on my g5 and will work with dual monitors. Well thats not the case today. it didnt fit in my computer and was wondering how would i get a dual monitor on a powermac G5
I have a question as I am about to buy a MAC PRO. If I choose to go with single 2.8 quad will I be able to add another processor or the MB with MP will need to be updated aswell? I just don't have enough $$ for it all as the 8800GT is a must for me at this point.
