View 3 RepliesMS Word keeps hanging up. Any options other than 'forced quit'? How do I make it stop? Can content since last auto-save be retrieved? I've enabled Tracking Changes and Auto-Save for every 10 min. No idea what cause pin wheel to start whirling. Is this something I can wait out? or must I do forced quit and lose my work?

I recently clicked Console in utilities for the heck of it. When it stopped responding, I forced quit it and tried to move to my 1st space to use safari. Suddenly, my mac kept moving around from space to space and then back to space 1 until I shut the computer. Was I hacked and am I being followed by someone right now who is stealing my information? I have restarted twice...

Q. I stopped an update installer of some Apple software and the Finder, now crashes without showing the desktop. Only the Apple logo and a spinning Beachball which never disappears. I can start up in the Unix mode and also in the Windows mode. I have an Imac with Osx 10.4. I could reinstall the system but probably I will loose a lot of unique files and poto's. In the Unix mode I have removed the Installer file from the desktop but it didn't change the startup. I have little experience with Unix.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI was deleting items of my external drive through MacBook keeper and when I went to shut down Safari (which was open) stopped the shutdown process. So in the end I force quit the computer. When it came to restarting I get the usula apple symbol and sound when start up begins but there it stops. The spoked wheel just keeps spinning below the Apple Symbol.

The forced quit dialogue box does not list it as open. What do I do?

Have Word 2004. Don't laugh; it's been working. When got new MBP, Office worked. (Well, can't recall if PPT ever worked with it.)Excel and Word definitely did work. Two weeks ago, Excel started working sporadically, then not at all.Right now(!!), Word suddenly stopped working. "Word quit unexpectedly" and "Excel quit unexpectedly." I'm having an issue with the printer and scanner preferences after an upgrade from SL to lion. It keeps quitting, after several attempts I could reset the printing preferences as described in the apple support doc here [URL] but no luck it still quits. I also reset the pram and smc.

Today, after updating to Snow Leopard, I have been noticing that when I have been working on a word document (Office 2008), when I quick (command + q), it will go to close and then suddenly crash asking me if I want to send a crash report and relaunch. Has anyone else been having this happen to them? It has happened a few times today to me. it is always when I am quitting with a document open (but saved).
View 24 Replies View Relatedso I just booted up my MBP, and I got this message that said that an application called srserviceagent, which is not in my applications, quit unexpectedly. I hit ignore, and the message just popped up again five seconds later. I did this multiple times, before just deciding to click relaunch. Well, all this does is immediately bring the message back up. So I hit report, in which it said that the report couldnt be sent. I have force quit, restarted and shut down already.

Software update popped up and I started it which restarted my Macbook as usual, but it has been loading for a couple of hours. In the meantime, I've tried turning my Macbook off and on to no avail, it stays in loading status (gray screen, small apple and the spinning gear). I've tried escaping, command shift Q, everything!Â

I keep getting "problem reports" when trying to open applications that have worked fine for years. Microsoft Word, Photopshop, Illustrator an Avery CD Sticker maker all give me the problem report window with the yellow trianlge and exclmation point when I try to open them and say:Â "____ has quit unexpectedly. Click reopen to open the application again. This report will be sent to Apple automatically." Â Clicking reopen offers the same thing again, and again, and again. It started yesterday with Photoshop and Illustrator, so I took them off my computer and tried to reinstall them. Now I get "Install Photoshop has quit unexpectedly. etc.."Â I ran the disc utility and it said my hard drive was OK.Â

I have a 2008 13" Macbook. Within the past few days, I've had to "force quit" Microsoft Word several times. I've never had to do this before. All my software is up to date. I moved the Firefox app from my Applications to the trash. Does this uninstall it? My hope is that it would and I could just reinstall it. I have yet to download it again. I have also had to Force Quit Microsoft Word several times. This is my main concern. I am entirely reliant on my laptop for income, as I am a journalist. Do I NEED to get a new Macbook?Â

Whenever I accidentally let the power drain on my aluminum macbook, which cause me to boot up from where I left off, everything works fine except all of my trackpad gestures stop working completely. Has anyone ever had this happen to them? Is my only option restarting my computer or is there some way to reset it (without losing my preferences)?
View 2 Replies View RelatedFor some reason when I save a Microsoft 2008 Word file to my desktop, as soon as I am done saving it, stuffit opens and a folder with the same name as the .docx file is created that contains the .docx info. So everytime I save one file I end up with 1 word doc and one corresponding folder. Any feedback on how to stop this or hide the folders or put the folders in their default directory?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just migrated from Lion on an old MacBook series 2007 to a MacBook Air. Yesterday, I opened up a grading file in Excel 2011, entered grades, saved the file (NOT Save As - just Save) handed back the assignments to my students - and then went to reopen the file later, and all of my changes were gone. I made more changes, Saved, just opened the file again, and they aren't there. To experiment, I opened the file just now, wrote in a silly comment on the top line, saved, reopened without quitting excel - and the changes aren't there.
A temporary work-around is that I can do a Save As every time I make changes, but that's ridiculous - I'm often updating a file and need the changes to be there. I just tried this with Word as well and I'm having the same problem - some Saved changes are there, some are not.
I have just upgraded to Lion and now can't open any of my saved Word documents.

View 4 Replies View RelatedThe program will not quit. When I force quit iTunes or quit it normally, it relaunches almost immediately. I can not shut down my MacBook properly because the program is running and cannot be quit. Anytime I shut down my computer, I have to force it by holding down the power key and iTunes once again comes up on its own after the computer is turned on. It is so frustrating! I hoped that installing the newest version, 10.6.1 would solve the problem but it hasn't. To even install the program, iTunes had to be quit so I had to force shut down my computer, and hurry and move the version of iTunes I had to the trash as soon as I turned the computer back on before the program opened on its own.Still no luck..open iTunes in safe mode but I can't open iTunes that way because I can't even close it before I would be able to open it!

View 4 Replies View RelatedI purchased a new IMac Intel version and I am having a problem with AOL. I have always had a problem with AOL and my Macs (now on number 3). In the past, if I left AOL running it would not allow the Macs to close down without Force Quitting from AOL and AOL would not quit normally. With the new Mac, if I use AOL it won't quit and when I Force Quit it disconnects the Mac from the internet and I have to restart. As I live in Antigua both Apple and AOL have been useless at trying to solve the problem.
